Hey so. Can we all take a moment to fucking acknowledge and do something about the fact that India is currently proposing a bill in parliament that would abrogate the previous landmark decision made in 2019 that gave trans people the right to self identify as their gender? That we’re going to need approval from a medical board headed by a chief medical officer who will then report to a fucking district magistrate who will THEN MAKE THE DECISION TO ISSUE US A FUCKING CERTIFICATE WE NEED BEFORE WE CAN IDENTIFY AS TRANS???

Plus this bill is also attempting to legislate transmasculine people out of existence given that this amendment literally changes the definition of what it means to be trans and places an emphasis on traditional socio-cultural communities such as hijra, kinner, aravani and jogta (tranditionally transfeminine communities) and intersex people. While explicitly stating it doesn’t include people of different sexual orientations ot self-perceived identities.

Like I know this fucking website is usapilled but for once can we here in India also get some fuckign attention. I am actually begging
