Looking for a fanon-centric TBB community?

The Chariot is a server run by myself that seeks to gather like-minded TBB fans in a fanon-friendly space! :D If we're we're mutuals, you're free to join!

A huge emphasis here is exploring divergent TBB topics - aus, ocs, fanworks and the like, while supporting small creators and helping people make friends. Most of us don't like how the show ended, or have alternative ideas that we discuss here :p The server is very active and supportive; we'd love to see you there!

fandom etiquette as a whole died when people who didn’t grow up on fandoms became stans during lockdown, yes, but why am i seeing people openly mocking fics on twitter. why am i seeing screenshots of fics with captions like “bro what is this 😭.” why am i seeing people mock fic writers for not knowing how sports or theater or college or any other organization operates in the real world.

“college is absolutely nothing like this” “why are we writing four people on the team scoring a hat trick in one game” “so tech work is nothing like this, hope that helps!”

if you don’t like a fic, and if you can’t suspend your belief enough to enjoy a fic that exaggerates or ignores real-world orgs, you don’t have to read it. you don’t have to screenshot it and put it on blast for twitter. you don’t have to post a link to it in the replies. the back button is literally there on your phone. it’s not giving baby’s first fandom anymore, it’s giving entitled asshole and it isn’t as cute as you think it is.

People forget that fandom isn't consumerist. It's community driven.

These fic writers don't OWE you anything. They get literally nothing but community feedback out of their work. So tell me, if they don't get any feedback on a work they pour genuine hours, days, MONTHS of their time into, what is their insentive to keep going? Right, there is none.

They aren't getting paid. They aren't getting famous. They aren't getting ANYTHING out of it, other than words of encouragement and community. You take away that encouragement and community, you take away their catalyst. Therefore, you don't get your fanworks.

Stop being selfish, and engage with your community.

My therapist just told me my problem is that I need to write more fanfiction.

This sounds fake but the logic behind it is actually really interesting? She said obsession with a new fandom triggers quick dopamine release when we consume all this related content--it's easy and addictive.

What we're NOT getting is that 'slow dopamine' that's more sustainable and engaging. That's the kind we get from DOING things that take effort but are ultimately rewarding.

So like, she suggested that writing fic and making fanart are ways to balance the quick dopamine of watching a show/reading fic with the slow dopamine of working at something that takes effort.

Moral of the story is you should engage in the process of creation around your favorite things. You'll feel better for it.

People act like being canon nowadays is the be all end all of ships meanwhile everyone writing Destiel in its prime were like this is never happening because the writers are cowards so I’m going to make them kiss and there was like 20000 fanfics a year with that principle. Like I’m sorry you got into fandom post 2020 but you don’t need the creator’s go ahead to ship things you can just ship things and have fun is that not why we are all here?
