“I live my life based on two principles. One, I live as if today was my last day on earth. Two, I live today as if I am going to live forever.”

It's been a while since I've posted something of meaning to me, so here it goes:
I've always struggled with happiness. I've never been a happy person, its always been a struggle to stay afloat mentally, and keep a positive attitude.
I've always seen myself as a realist, never looking at the glass half empty, or half full. It's just a glass with water in it.
Happiness is something that can't be attained though objects, people, or places. It's something that you, have to create on your own.
I don't know how long I've had PTSD but honestly, I'm pretty sure that it has been for a while, before I was diagnosed with it. This is a hard subject for me to talk about, due to the fact that I am a private person.
Happiness is created by memories, moments, that you share with a person, place, an animal, or something of value to you. It is the connection that makes it special. People get caught up in looks, and charm when really, they need to be focusing on them selves as a person, growing, improving to be the best that they could ever obtain to be.
I've noticed with the times, people are glued to their cell phones, I understand that its a break from reality, but if you spend your whole life looking down, you're going to forget how to look forward.
There are moments in life where everyone is truly beautiful, it comes in segments, rather that be a persons' crooked smile, how their hair shines in the sun, the way they look at the world around them.
If you spend the majority of your time caught up in materialistic possessions, you're going to miss those moments, and once their gone, their gone, you've missed that moment. Life is fleeting, the older you get, the more you begin to realize this.
So to all of you who are struggling, remember to live in the moment, remember to look up, keep moving forward, and never forget who you are.

I am…. very queer.
The thing I love about cats is that they’re basically born ready to throw down. There’s something strangely life-affirming about seeing a ball of fuzz that could fit in the palm of your hand with room to spare react to an unfamiliar creature literally a hundred times its size by going “I roll Intimidation”.
#the really life affirming part is that sometimes it works
Noir Princesses by Ástor Alexander
Hazel Scott playing two pianos at the same damn time with ease
Hazel Scott was a musical sorcerer and a civil rights hero. She:
was admitted to Julliard at 8.
was performing in top venues by 16.
pioneered “swinging the classics” and made the equivalent of a million dollars a year doing it.
was the first person of color to have their own national TV show.
went to Hollywood but refused to be cast as a “singing maid.” Demanded and got control over her casting, her wardrobe, and how footage featuring her was cut.
refused to perform in segregated venues and led charges for integration in several northern cities, notably Spokane.
She was brought down by the House Committee on Unamerican Activities, and has been largely forgotten. But she was a sorcerer, and a hero.

Let’s un-forget her.
reblog if you think sign language should be taught as a language in schools.
Envy and jealousy can sneak up on people and it can cause some serious damage emotionally and even physically! Stop comparing yourself to others, because no life is exactly the same - we each have our own obstacles and challenges to accomplish. So when you start to think the grass is greener on the other side, think about your own goals, nurture and take care of your side of the yard, because the more blessings you count in your life, the more beautiful flowers will flourish!!
This is probably the most inspiring thing I’ve seen in a while. :)
LITERALLY the BEST advice for any artist, ever! Heck, anyone, ever, but especially creatives, because in the world of subjectivity, art reigns supreme. But what someone likes and considers successful, someone else might not! They might think YOU are successful instead, and want to further your art growth! Artists compare each others’ work a lot, and I mean golly I’m a victim of compare/contrast every day, but what’s important is to find others who inspire you, and when you are inspired, you will be surprised at who you inspire in return! Surround yourself with people who wish to work with you, to make your work better (and of course, people you are comfortable with returning the favor)! Having that extra positivity can work wonders!
So don’t compare! Everyone is different, unique, and learns at a different pace! Work together and share knowledge, and you’ll be amazed at how quickly you grow and others grow around you.
This is SO IMPORTANT
