✧Sukuna x Reader - Beach Day✧
Fluff | Uncle!Kuna x Auntie!Reader | Modern AU | Toddler!Yuji - Kid!Choso | A day at the beach with Sukuna's nephews, turns surprisingly soft.
You're in the kitchen, preparing the last bits of snacks and drinks in the cooler for the day. Your swimsuit hidden under a large white shirt and loose shorts.
Sukuna was already on his way back from picking up the kids from his brother.
Sukuna would never admit it but he'd do anything for the "little brats" as he affectionately calls them. Hell, the beach was even his idea.
Casually dropping the comment one evening while you were lounging with him.
"There's a beach not too far..."
"...clean..."
"...perfect with the kids..." and he left it at that while changing the channel of the TV.
You take a final look at the beach bag by the door.
Sunscreen,
floaters,
beach towels,
wet wipes,
sun glasses,
water bottles,
beach toys,
your book,
hats...
The list is complete along with the cooler. You lock the door behind you as Sukuna pulls into the parking of your house.
His souped-up black Jeep ready for the nice weather.
He'd taken down the top panels earlier this morning. Proving he was actually excited about today.
The kids in the back seat in their secured seats that are permanently part of your car, wave excitedly at you.
"How are my favorite boys? Ready for the beach?" You ask them as Sukuna gets out of the car and puts the cooler in the trunk.
The kids yell excitedly.
You settle in the passenger seat, as usual.
Sukuna sitting back in the driver seat, sunglasses covering his dark red eyes. His tattoos glistening under the rays of the sun and the sunscreen you insisted on putting on him before he left to pick up the kids.
Yes, you had to wrestle the man like he was Yuji's age...
The ride filled with singing off-key,
Sukuna's hand on your thigh, his thumb tracing invisible circles on your skin.
Yuji pointing at different cars and trucks,
Choso calmly explaining what different trucks were delivering.
When the sea comes into view, Yuji's starts bouncing in his seat, his small chubby fists raised in excitement while Choso's eyes were wide, admiring the view.
You turn to them while Sukuna focused on finding parking without hitting a clueless pedestrian.
"Alright, beach day rules boys! You hold onto my hand in the parking, you go in the water with me or uncle Sukuna and no wandering off." You say, pointing a finger with each rule.
Choso nods, confident.
While Yuji glance at his big brother before nodding too.
When you turn back to the parking situation, you see Sukuna's knuckles white from the force he's gripping the wheel.
You put a gentle hand on his shoulder.
"Fucking stupid people don't know how to fucking park, fucking idiots." He mumbles under his breath, not loud enough for the kids to hear. You look ahead, some people taking two parking spots, crocked on purpose or just plain stupid. Either way, you need to find a spot before Sukuna just drives onto the beach directly.
"We can walk, Suki it's fine." You say, pointing to streets further down the road.
Sukuna sighs before turning the wheel, following your advice. Not worth putting his energy on stupid people.
Sukuna plants the sun umbrella in the sand like a flag on the moon.
While both kids hold onto your hands on each side of you.
Sukuna settles the beach towels like establishing camp while you put sunscreen on the kids.
Yuji wiggling at the sensation, scrunching his little nose in disdain.
"If I gotta wear sunscreen, you do too, brat." Sukuna says shooting a glare at his youngest nephew.
Yuji stops moving instantly, not scared. Probably surprised that even his tall uncle had to go through the same torture that is sunscreen.
Choso approaches you as you finish massaging the leftover cream in Yuji's neck. The growing kid poking your arm lightly.
"Auntie Y/N, can you tie my hair like you did last time, please?" He asks, looking up at you with hope.
You smile down at him.
There's something special about a kid who isn't related to you.
When they trust you, when they accept you, when they choose you.
It feels like they hand you the most precious diamond in the world.
With clean hands, you turn to Choso and tie his hair up in two small space buns, like you did last time they had a sleepover at your place.
Once both kids are ready and suit up for the sea, you look up at Sukuna as he puts an arm around your shoulders.
"Come on 'Kuna!!! I wanna go in the sea!!! I wanna see fish!!" Yuji yells trying to pull at Sukuna's fingers toward the beach.
But the poor child is no match for his uncle and his ridiculous strength. Sukuna keeps his eyes on you, his cap backward on his head because you insisted that he wears a hat.
"Only if your auntie comes too." A smirk grows on the side of his mouth. Mischievious bastard.
Your eyes widen at his words. You were prepared for the beach. That didn't mean you actually wanted to get wet.
In fact, you'd be better in the shade, sipping on an ice drink with your book in hand.
You sigh as both kids grab onto your hands, pulling you away from Sukuna's side toward the water.
His heavy step following the three of you.
Unhurried,
calm,
not a care in the world.
The water is cold at first, sending chills up your back, your skin reacting quickly, but the higher the water rises up your legs, the warmer it gets.
The kids scream of joy at the feeling, Yuji louder than Choso who bends down to touch the water with his hands.
"Boys, follow my lead." You whisper loud enough for them to hear.
They turn to you, recognizing your tone that means: I have a plan to tease uncle Kuna.
When the kids have water up to their knees, you turn in Sukuna's direction, that was still trailing behind you, and start splashing him with water, kicking your feet.
Both boys imitating your movements. Laughing with you.
But Sukuna stops moving, looking at you three through his sun glasses. His expression unreadable, like most of the time.
But now you fear that you've woken up a beast that you weren't sure you were ready to deal with.
Even the kids by your side take a step back in the sea, bracing for their uncle's reaction.
"...Brats." Sukuna says, a full teeth grin on his face before he pounces in your direction.
The three of you take off running in the water, yelling, laughing, smiling. Trying to get as less salt water as possible in your mouth.
Sukuna easily grabbing Choso and putting him on his shoulder as he got deeper into the water.
You do the same with Yuji, the toddler being light enough for your shoulders.
The kids cheering as Sukuna and you play fight in the the water.
Your cheeks hurting from how much you're smiling.
Hoping that this moment will be locked away in the kids' minds. Hoping this becomes one of those core memories, engraved into their minds the way it's being engraved into yours.
Through his hard demeanor, you swear that Sukuna is smiling in his own way.
The way he holds his nephews, the way he scans the beach, protecting your things, the way his grip is soft when he interlocks your fingers together, the way he fakes monster noises as he keeps entertaining the kids in the sea. Tossing them in the water by their life jacket.
All ways that you know means more than he'll ever say.
You're drying under the shade of the umbrella, sitting on one of the beach chairs you brought from home. Finally doing what you wanted to do during "beach day".
Your book in hand as your hair is still damp from the beach water.
Choso and Yuji settling in the warm sand not far from your little camp, playing with the toys you brought for them.
Then—
Like a cat choosing to lay in its favorite spot for a nap—
Sukuna leans over your body on the chair.
Claiming the space without asking.
Settling in like it's routine.
He settles between your legs on the lounge chair.
His nose brushing in the crook of your neck like he choose a pillow.
You don't flinch nor are you surprised.
You wait until he's settled in comfortably before your hand lands on his back, using his shoulder like a reading table.
Sukuna breathes out a deep sigh. Like something releasing in his chest.
You don't say a word,
you don't ask question,
the silence is comfortable,
like a quiet pocket of heaven that you don't want to disturb.
Your hand moving from his back to massage the back of his head. Your nails gently grazing his scalp of his undercut.
"You're lethal, woman." He mumbles, his warm breath caressing the sensitive skin of your neck.
You smile, "You can sleep you know, I got it." You say softly, knowing full well the man can't let himself be soft. Always on guard duty around his nephews, around you.
But for once, you just want him to actually relax,
to be peaceful,
like he makes you feel when you're with him.
He groans in protest at your suggestion but he doesn't move from his spot on your body.
His arms circling tighter around you as you keep massaging at his nape.
You smile, content, fulfilled.
You turn a page of your book and leave a kiss at Sukuna's hair line. The hat and his sunglasses discarded under the shade.
His breathing steady, a slight tilt of his head as a sign of acknowledgment for your affection.
"Uncle Kuna!! The water is flooding the fort!" Yuji yells out from their spot in the sand. Building something with Choso.
You move your hand away from Sukuna, already expecting him to join his nephews in the sand.
Sukuna raises himself from your body, taking his body heat with him, leaving the cold breeze caress your skin from where he was lying.
He leans inches from your face, "Helpless." He whispers against your lips.
You take the opportunity to land a kiss to his lips. Tasting slightly of salt from the sea.
You take the opportunity and put his hat back onto his head, wanting to protect him from things he didn't think he needed protecting from.
When Sukuna pulls away from the kiss, he looks into your eyes.
He smirks, raising one of his brow, gosh he looks cocky.
"Stubborn." You say without missing a beat.
He grins wider before leaving your side, joining the kids in the sand. Kneeling between both brothers taking the small toys in his large hands, using it like tools. Listening to their ideas, because he cares, more than he'll ever say with words.
