Hello all!

This account is for disabled transgender people (binary or nonbinary), but of course all are welcome. I aim to uplift and represent the trans disabled community with reposts, my own thoughts, and anything you would like to share. I will try to be as accomodating as possible (ex: inserting TWs/CWs when needed, no flashing lights), but please let me know if anything needs to be changed.

I do not tolerate racism, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, bigotry, or any sort hatefulness. I will block you if you try to spread anything harmful. People from all backgrounds and religions are welcome of course, but please do not force your beliefs onto others. One, it's bad in the first place. Two, this isn't really the place for that.

My name is Aspen, and I am a transgender man who has ADHD, chronic depression and anxiety (along with suspected bipolar 2). These disorders disable me and affect my everyday life. I'm very much punk, and reflect that in all sorts of ways. I'd prefer to be somewhat anonymous, but I don't mind non-invasive personal questions. I am a minor, so take that into consideration when interacting with me.

GOROM CAMP UPDATE:

It is 42C+ here every day. Our plastic shelters are ovens.

No shade. No fans. Water queues in the sun.

Sick, dehydrated, and food spoiling fast.

LGBTIQ refugees are suffering most because we are inside, hiding.

Being transgender means my gender doesn’t match what people assumed when I was born. That truth cost me my home in Uganda in 2021. Homophobes made sure of it. I thought Kakuma refugee camp would be safer. It wasn’t.

In Gorom now, I’m still fighting for a place where I can exist without fear.My sexual orientation is part of me too — but first, I just want the right to live.

To other trans refugees: I see you. We deserve more than survival.

Right now we are facing a health crisis

Many of us are sick due to poor sanitation, overcrowding and lack of clean drinking water.We are asking for urgent help like clean water for drinking , medical care, sanitation and safe housing.

We fled persecution hoping to find safety.

Please dont let us get sick because 9fvthe condition here.

In my experience, feeling both trans joy and sadness is similar to disabled joy and sadness.

Being trans is a wonderfully unique experience. Thinking about how I'm a self made man makes me feel euphoric, and I take pride in my gender expression. At the same time, I've struggled a lot with issues related to my gender.

I feel similar-ish about my disability. I love how uplifting the disabled. community can be. On the other hand, being disabled kinda really SUCKS. Aside from the already existing struggles and limitations, feeling valid without being visibly disabled is really hard.

At the end of the day, your individuality is so beautiful. Even with the hardships of being queer and disabled, there is nobody who will ever be YOU.

if your disability came from something you did voluntarily, like driving a car, or having sex, or doing BMX stunts, then guess what???

When you tell someone about being mistreated because of your disability, there is a common response that goes something along the lines of, "But did you explain to them properly why you can't do x thing?" "Did you make sure they understood why you need x accomodation?" "Maybe they just didn't understand?"

For example: "Did you properly explain that the reason you don't do hugs is because of your autism?" or "Maybe they don't really understand how bad fibro fatigue is and that's why they got upset at you for concelling plans."

I hate these kind of responses. They give me the same vibe as being asked, "Yeah, but what were you wearing when you got catcalled?" They put the responsability for the problem onto the person who was discriminated against, instead of the one doing the discriminating. Disabled people should not be expected to go through grueling explanations or justify their needs before those needs are respected.

I'm a trans man and my wife recently came out as a trans woman! She is so beautiful and she's starting to like who she sees in the mirror. I'm so so proud of her.
