"What has you so dressed up?" You called down the hall to Asmodeus. Usually you ran into him coming home in the early morning hours, not slipping out for the night.
"Aren't you going to go spectate 'The Run'?" His eyes lit up as you approached him. "All of that pent up sexual energy always makes the Alphas that decide not to run so riled up." The Avatar of Lust winked. "Besides, Mc, you should come with me! Us Omegas need to stick together. Not only that, but I can wingman a super handsome Alpha into your bed, if your feeling naughty."
"Asmo!" You chided, blush sweeping your features.
"Willingly of course, Mc. I know you don't like it when I charm the pants off of Alphas. I just can't help myself. They are soooo cute when they are are needy and begging." A sly smirk crossing his pink lips. "Besides, The Run only happens every few centuries. You should witness it. Well, what you can anyway. Most of the action happens in the forest." Waggling his eyebrows he made sure his bedroom door was locked.
"What happens in the forest?"
"The fun stuff." Asmo pouted. "Hence why I am gonna make my own fun tonight.
"I doubt there are people fucking in the forest, Asmo." You couldn't help but giggle.
"That's where you are wrong, Mc. It's what the Run is all about."
"What?" You couldn't help but tilt your head. Yes, the Devildom had some strange customs...but this was for sure the most lewd thing you had heard of.
"We covered this in class, Mc. All of the wonderful virgin omegas that are of age get swept away, only to be chased and ultimately ravaged by a strong, horny Alpha." A deep sigh left his lips. "All this talk about it is gonna get me worked up before I find an Alpha, Mc."
"What day did we cover that?!" You almost squealed.
"Now that I think about it, I think it was one of the days you had your heat. So maybe that's why you missed it?"
"Why is it just virgins?"
"Well that's simple, like, cosmic energy just seems to flow better through them."
"Well who would just throw their virginity to some random horny Alpha, in the woods no less?" You couldn't help as your arms wrapped around yourself. "I couldn't imagine just throwing it away like that."
"Virgin omegas that exist the year of the Run have to make a choice. Either find someone and do the 'Hot and Heavy', or you agree to join in 'The Run'. Also, its not considereal just throwing 'it' away. It's an honor to be born and stay virginal until The Run for us demons."
You couldn't help but gulp. "Ya, but it's just for demons. So it's not like us exchange students are required to participate." You shrugged.
"Wrong again. Your heat picked the worst week." He shook his head. "Witches and sorcerers like Solomon participate as well. It's good luck. Speaking of, I wanna see him off before he enters the Alpha only area! He promised to give me all the dirty details after he made it back to Purgatory Hall tomorrow morning, but I wanna give him some luck."
"So if you are a virgin Omega, you just choose not to run?" You wanted to clarify.
"Nope. You are literally summoned. Hence why you need to make your choice the year of."
You could feel the air leave your lungs.
"Are you okay, Mc?" Asmodeus put his slender fingers on your forehead. "You look awful all of a sudden. Are you getting sick?"
Looking into your eyes, Asmo must have seen the fear. A small gasp and his eyes lit up. "No!" He shook his head. Hand on his hip and he began to slowly look you over. "Seriously?!" He asked excitedly, a huge smile taking over his features. "Oh my Devildom!" His voice now panicked, as quick as the smile had come, it had vanished. "Mc, are you serious?!"
"I mean... no one ever... liked me, like liked me...like THAT." You tried to explain sheepishly, staring a hole into the carpet while fumbling over your words.
Hands flying to your arm, you were being drug down the hallway before you could answer.
"LUCIFER!" Asmo all but screeched as he ran quickly to his room with you in tow.
Slamming on his door, Asmodeus had his phone out. "Answer your damn D.D.D.! What is the point of having having the damned thing if you never pick them up!" The Avatar of Lust yelled into his ringing phone. "Call Lord Diavolo right now!" He instructed you.
"And tell him what?"
"That you are going to be part of The Run, that his administration royaly fucked up. I don't know... to get you out of this!"
"Can he?" You asked hopefully.
"I have no idea. FOR FUCK SAKE SOLOMON, YOU HORNY ASSHOLE. ANSWER YOUR PHONE!" Asmodeus shouted. "Return this call ASAP!" He added, using a very cutesy voice.
Dialing Lord Diavolo with a shaky hand, you saw that Asmo was now making his third call, Satan.
"Hello?" A deep voice seemed to jump you from your stupor. "Mc, are you there?"
"They are here," Asmodeus said quickly. "We have an emergency though." He quickly held the phone to his ear, his hands wrapped around yours as he answered your phone for you. "Is there anyway Mc can leave the Devildom ASAP?"
You couldn't hear anything now. "Mc is going to have to participate... I just found out, and apparently they did too." Another moment of silence e from Asmo. "I think it was the week of their heat when it was brought up..."
Lord Diavolo could feel his heart pounding. After hanging up with Asmodeus, he turned quickly to Lucifer, pulling him to a corner of the Alpha gathering area. "We need to find your brothers, now. Mc is going to participate in The Run. Somehow they weren't informed, and are indeed a virgin. Because of the cosmic energy,"
"The portals are unreliable. They couldn't leave if they wanted too." He finished Lord Diavolo's sentence, realization hitting hard.
"There is literally three minutes until the Omegas are summoned. Which means eighteen minutes until all of us single Alphas are released. Any lower demon could get their hands on Mc and do whatever they please. We have no choice but try to find Mc, before anyone else does."
"There is no choice but for one of us to find them, and try to control ourselves until it's over."
"Easier said than done, I'm afraid." Lord Diavolo began to search the crowd with his eyes. " We meet back here with whoever we can find and make a plan."
"Agreed." Lucifer answered, moving the opposite direction of Diavolo to try and locate his brothers."
"Mc, listen to me. The Etherals are going to come in a few minutes. They put you into a gentle sleep. They take you to who knows where.. They bathe the Omegas, then change them into a white gown, tying a white ribbon around the neck. From there, they deposit the sleeping Omegas into the flower patch, the one just outside of the forest.. As SOON as you wake up, you need to make your way as far, and deep, into the forest as you can. You'll have about seven, or eight minutes tops, to put distance between yourself and the Alphas."
"Asmo, what do I do? What if I get caught?"
"Then you fight. You can try to summon one of my brothers." Asmodeus was wracking his brain for anything that could help you. "Once someone you know finds you, they won't entirely be themselves. But you might be able to reason with them, or they might be able to hold themselves together long enough to get you out, or at least keep the other Alphas away from you."
"Why won't they be themselves?"
"The Alphas go into Rut while they are in the waiting area. Some Omegas go into Heat from all the smells, but if you get the distance in the beginning you'll fair a bit better." His hands were on either side of your face. Placing a quick kiss to your forehead, he just as quickly pulled you into a hug. "You'll be okay. MC." He whispered softly, petting your hair. Whether it was for your sake, or his, you weren't sure.
"You won't even realize you've fallen asleep." He whispered. Looking back to your face, a small sad smile graced his lips. Slowly sinking to the floor with your sleeping form in his arms, he closed his eyes. "Please take care of Mc." Asmodeus sighed softly as your form disappeared from his grasp. Opening his eyes again revealed that Mc had already been swept away by the Etherals.

A Miss Yuu/Mc who complains to Malleus on one of their night walks that she has nowhere to go over the summer. That’s it’s likely Crowley will have her work as groundskeeper for a room and food. It was honest venting, she didn’t expect Malleus to solve her dilemma. But lo and behold a couple weeks before school let out, Malleus offered a room at Briar Valleys castle. His grandmother had given permission, and Mc needed only to respond. Mc of course packed up all her and Grims belongs and joined the Diasmonia gang home.
Her room was spacious with a luxurious bathroom and a tower view. It was so relaxing and nice to be the one pampered and served for once. Malleus ensured she was treated like a princess. But after a couple weeks…Mc noted there wasn’t much else to do. Malleus had said he grew up rather isolated in the castle, she didn’t think she would get a taste of that. Silver and Sebek we’re often training with Lilia. Or Sebek would be home with his parents. Malleus grandmother had kept him occupied with state affairs. Mc had found herself video chatting with the rest of the first year gang more and more. She tried to play it off when asked if anything exciting was going on over there. But no one was convinced she was having any fun.
Lilia, of course, had picked up on this. Telling Mc if she was feeling antsy, she was welcome to come with him and Silver to their cottage for a few days after they finished training at the end of the week. Malleus wasn’t too keen on Mc leaving so soon after arriving, but he supposed he had neglected his child of man. Hopefully by the time she had returned, he would have caught up on everything and they could enjoy themselves. So at the end of the week, Mc joined Silver and Lilia at their house. Lilia had prepared their rather cozy guest room, and Mc enjoyed the next couple days playing games with Lilia into the wee hours and going with Silver into the woods.
Mc had not heard from Sebek until halfway through the week. Lilia had errands to do, and sent Silver, Mc, and Grim into town with the grocery list. As they walked around town, Grim noticed something interesting.
“Zigvolt Dental Clinic…isn’t that Sebeks dads buisness?”
“That it is.” Silver replied. “Come to think of it, I think Sebek mentioned something about having to help his mom at the front desk…” All Grim and Mc heard was ‘lets go bother Sebek.’
So they walk into the clinic, and sure enough there was their friend behind the desk organizing files. The silent horror that crossed their Sebeks face as his mother greeted them “Hello! Do you…Silver! Sweetie, what are you doing here?”
“Hello Mrs.Zigvolt, we were only stopping by to say hi.”
“Aw how sweet. Sebek, your friends are here! Oh i’m so sorry, honey, I didnt get your name.”
“It’s Yuu. Nice to meet you ma’am. This is Grim.”
“So You’re Yuu and Grim! Sebek, you never told me they were in the valley. If I had known we could have invited them to dinner or something.”
“Mother,please. Yuu has been staying in the castle, I doubt she would have had time to-”
Mrs. Zigvolt interrupted her son with a thought. “Oh! If you three aren’t busy, you should join us for lunch so we can catch up. We were about to head out. Sebek, be a dear and get my purse.” Then she added. “Besides Silver, knowing your father it’s safer to send you off on a full stomach.”
“You’re right as always , ma'am.” Silver didn’t argue, and neither do Mc or Grim.
Sebeks mother made Mc feel very welcome to the valley. Even inviting her to dinner with the rest of the family like she had originally wanted. She was so loving and nurturing that Yuu wanted to be swallowed up by all the motherly affection she had gone so long without. She was a bit sad when the mini trip to the cottage was over. But Mrs.Zigvolt promised to treat her to a girls day with her and Sebeks sister next time she went to visit her son.
They went back to the castle, and Malleus had welcomed her back with open arms. He had finally gotten some free time and was able hang out more. Malleus had shown her the rose garden, the library, every gargoyle in the castle. It was nice to finally spend more time with him.
What Mc didn’t know was that someone else had some free time as well. One day she returned to her room to find a beautiful dress laid out for her, along with an invitation to tea tomorrow. It was from the Briar Queen, Malleus’ grandmother.

like to me there's so much charm in these weird little games that crop up every once in a while even if they're kinda unoriginal i feel a lot of indie games now are Super ambitious but like. sometimes all you need is an engine and a fun story
i am not joking we need to force teach cooking in schools. like. it is an essential thing for survival. do you know how easy it is to make things if you know even the bare bones shit about how cooking works. we need to teach teenagers how far you can take an onion and some other veggies it’’s sad that people grow up not knowing how to prepare literally anything. and i’m not talking about oh this home ed class taught me how to make chicken nuggets at home i’m talking about learning the balancing of sweetness and acidity and saltiness and bitterness and shit like that and techniques and oil temperatures and how meats cook. it needs to be taught because it’s literally not even that difficult and it matters so much
i truly believe that knowing how to cook is a basic survival concept and the fact that so many people can’t even make simple dishes is depressing as hell this is the sorta thing that should be taught at a young age. being able to take the ingredients you have around your home and turn them into a meal is like, essential and will make life so much better. you don’t need to be a high end chef you just need to understand some things that can be easily taught… but then again maybe the education system is playing a roll against this and ultimately they want you to grow up to rely on mcdonalds for dinner. i don’t know. please learn how to cook for yourself if you’re able. i’m not asking you to hunt for specific ingredients to make some expensive youtuber’s “best” recipe but if you know the basics of cooking you can do a lot with cheap canned ingredients. cooking can be affordable i promise you just need to learn how to make do with what you can get

I honestly recommend cookbooks for beginner cooks (they cost more than internet recipes, but you can get them used without too much agony.
Internet recipes are great, but they vary widely in explanation quality, which is fine if you know most of the techniques, but less so if you’re still learning. There’s an extra level of overall organization in edited cookbooks that I take for granted but that can be a lot of help if you’re starting out.
There’s a whole genre of cookbooks that are “for teens” or “for college students” which are specifically focused on new cooks without too many tools. Don’t be embarrassed to get one even if you are no longer a teen or a student. They’re just really useful.
My favourite is “Clueless in the Kitchen” by Evelyn Raab. It leads with a whole section on cooking and kitchen maintenence and it gives the recipes with minimal spices but with instructions about how to add or alter spices in a recipe, so you don’t get pummelled with huge numbers of herbs and spices to buy all at once. This copy is $4.
I once won a giveaway for a digital copy of Cooking Is Terrible by Mischa Fletcher, so I feel kind of obliged to try and convince people to buy a copy, but honestly it’s fun to read even if you’re not using it for its intended purpose: learning how to make a decently nutritious meal for not a lot of time, energy, or money.
