Where can I read your cont

I’m gonna be honest, I never actually started publishing the writing I had for it. And I don’t think I’m going to do more any time soon, because I’ve taken on a different project that caters much more to like general interests of mine which I kinda feel a lot more serious about. But that doesn’t mean I don’t actually have any writing. 

I said I’d release these when I’d finished them, but since I never did and there’s no current plans to, I don’t see the harm in posting them now. Linked below is a masterpost of “spotlight” pieces I did for major characters in TFR. I have finished the entire cast of the first part (Recon) but I only have some of the stuff for the second (Ignition Point). And yknow, misc stuff. They’re basically short character introspectives of stuff that happens to them prior to the main story taking place and for several, contain very important backstory beats.

i’ve never drawn non-tfa bots before and you know what . it’s not so bad actually! a LOVELY lad from @transformersreflections , i got to pick any of them so i of course took the chance to draw a drift for the first time, i love his little horns so FUCKING much

What’s Soundscream like in this cont? How’d they get together?

A good question! While of course, there’s a lot to be elaborated on more in actual writing and story, I can do my best to sum up what they’re like and how they started out. 

Let the record show that they are very much good for each other. They’re both workaholics with a bad habit for self-neglect and bottling up, but neither of them like to see other bots doing the same, so they keep each other in check fairly often with reminders that it’s okay to take a break and okay to talk about what’s bothering them. They aren’t burdens, and they aren’t perfect. Soundwave does also have the cassette’s, so Starscream gets a nice little taste of what it’s like to have a family and be a parent which humbles him a bit. And in turn, Soundwave gets to learn what it’s like to have someone worry after him for a change, and learn to let himself rely on someone else. 

They got together sometime after Starscream took over the Decepticons, during the events of Ignition Point specifically I believe. Shockwave used to be the one Screamer went to all the time beforehand, and with him gone Soundwave kinda took up that role just because he’s..... hyper empathetic and hated seeing Screamer struggle so much with everything. And along the way develops feelings after the stupid seeker begins letting his guard down and just being himself instead of the important dramatic boss all the time. Which in turn leads to him developing a bit of fondness back for Soundwave, just cause the guy is so gentle and nice to him in a way no one else has been, and seeing more of him about means he sees more of what makes Soundwave great! 

TLDR; They’re both tired, they both care too much, so they just wanna hold hands and take a nap together in mutual exhaustion and fondness.

What’s your favorite ship in this cont?

Oh wow, haven’t sat down to talk about or write anything for TFR in a long fucking time, huh? But hey, nothing wrong with answering a lil Q sometimes. 

It’s hard to pinpoint one as I do really like every ship (hence why I bother to include them anyway) but..... Soundwave/Starscream and Rodimus/Brainstorm might be my favorites. Entirely just because both parties are so stupidly gushy and in love that it makes me happy thinking about them, and how well they try to be pillars of support for each other that all parties involved have rarely had. They’re very.... comfortable ships, in a way. 

I am also gonna be a whore and say I really like Chromos/Quickfix.

Who is your least favorite character?

Just in general? Well, I mean all of the Senate, but if we go for anyone still relevant then the DJD. They’re supposed to be so terrible even Megatron wasn’t happy with their presence, so as much as it’s a fun character exercise to make them I don’t like them. They’re the worst. Sentinel is my choice for the Autobots (self explanatory.) Froid also makes me feral. 

Least favorite to write though? Clockblock. Their weird speech pattern can get really annoying to type out after a while, so big blocks of text with them make me cry. But I do it cause I love them.....

What canon sources did you take inspiration from?

God I almost forgot I had asks I’m such a cheesebrain

For the most part, I feel it’s probably pretty obvious that a lot of my inspiration mainly comes from IDW1, TFP, and TFA. A lot of the aspects of story and word-building took inspiration from IDW1, as originally I’d made TFR to mirror it but in a way that meant I actually understood what was fucking happening without reading a million old comics. 

As I move onto characters though, largely I source the cartoons as my inspiration! There’s a lot of really fun interpretations across the cartoons to take insp from after all.

Foresight: Where do you see yourself in the future?

RODIMUS: “Future as innnnn next Heptacycle or we talkin’ far future? ‘Cause next Heptacycle I see myself sittin’ in the same boring meetings I’m always being forced to sit through, and bitchin’ about it to Drift afterwards. Far future though? I see myself....studying under Optimus again. But also being respected and called a hero after finally bringing him home, even by that old fartbag Sentinel! Oh man, I’d rub that in his dumb face every day. I WILL rub it in his face, actually! Just you wait and see! I’ll make OP proud!”

FIRST AID: “I. What? You kind of realize that’s the opposite of my job right? Well, actually, yknow I HAVE hurt other mechs but that was in self-defense and completely warranted, I’ve never KILLED someone before! Do I....come across as someone who’s done that? I need to ask Ambulon, hold on-”

Jam:  What’s the hardest part of this AU, plotting, worldbuilding, drawing, or something else?

Honestly, it’s hard to nail down one thing! Not a lot of things are easy to do when making something as big as an OG cont. However, it IS super hard to actually draw original designs for canon bots that are actually any good. I go through a lot of ideas and still am for CERTAIN bots who are being a PAIN to draw (coughRatchetcough). Tune: give us a song you associate with this AU, a character, or a plot point!

I actually have songs for each TFR character, fun fact! So here’s one of the most random and fun ones I could think of, if you can guess who’s theme song this is then uhhhhh I dunno. You can ask one thing and I have to answer 100% honestly. Or have a cookie, your pick.

Spark: what’s the core theme or idea behind this AU? What do you want us to take away from your work?

That! Is a hard question. I suppose the big theme behind Reflections would be that It Gets Better. 

But only if you let it. It’s hard at first but you have to work every day to do a little better than you did yesterday. And everyone is capable of doing that, of doing better no matter who they are- the only thing they need to have is the desire for change and the strength to keep going. (Of course, the strength to keep going is for some the only thing they need, it’s situation dependent, yknow?)
