How dreadful did Good Friday seem. Jesus’ disciples and friends were crestfallen and bewildered as they stood at the foot of the ‘Old Rugged Cross’. Their hopes for the redemption and salvation of Israel were crushed and crucified.✝️ But on the third day their hopes revived. They discovered their Redeemer and Savior, the eternal King of Israel, was alive. His followers rejoiced with exuberant, irrepressible, spiritual joy because Christ had risen indeed, had trounced Satan and had buried their sins forever. Amen.

Passion Week reminds me of how fickle and capricious the hearts of people are. Exalted songs of “Hosanna, hosanna!” days later became angry chants: “Give us Barabbas, give us Barabbas!” So Pontius Pilate consented to the will of the hostile multitude and Jesus was crucified although He was sinless and had done no wrong.✝️ But it was meant to be! You remember the words that Jesus spoke to the two saddened travellers on the road to Emmaus (Luke 24:24-27).
