How many people’s most beloved childhood stuffed animals are actually teddy bears, like I feel like that’s a thing someone made up. Reblog this and put what your longest owned and/or favorite stuffed animal as a child was in the tags, inquiring minds want to know

must say… women of colour in the global south in violent and oppressive situations deserve more support and to be seen with more nuance and solidarity even if they don’t speak english / aren’t versed in contemporary identity politics.
i cannot emphasise enough that I feel no political alignment with western feminists who care about their favourite celebrity’s feminism and clothes more than listening to marginalised women. or pretend sexism is over because they can’t bear to hear about rape incidents. or care strongly about reclaiming being a doll for sexual pleasure but show no support to girls elsewhere fighting for an education. or with theorists who argue about which women based on other factors like race or sexuality or education are oppressors in a web and should thus be viewed with less sympathy. we’re all accidentally oppressing someone else, jan. isn’t it more important to approach others with empathy and attention than write them off unsympathetically or pretend they don’t exist?
i think a lot of it is noise and disingenuous. you have to have actual concern for women of the world and seek to support women who are different from you, not divide into smaller and smaller groups and fight about banal things.
if you don’t want to be an actual ally or reflect on your stupid jokes about tv show men being ‘valid, actually’ for their horrifically violent sexism or think about how you mock women for their physical features all the time then don’t pretend to care at all.

recovery horror: where the process of healing from something reveals previously unknown levels of damage
seeing a smudge on the wall and realizing it’s mildew. examining the mildew and realizing it’s black mold. peeling back the wallpaper and seeing it’s eaten the entire house. going into the basement for a flashlight and realizing it’s flooded. spending every last bit of money at your disposal on fixing all of these things, only to move the box covering the trap door that leads to the seven hundred mile obsidian tunnel that leads directly to the gates of hell.
where exactly every individual’s collapsing point is located. where they stop in that process of uncovering and why.
the conflicts that arise from knowing FULL WELL about the tunnel to the gates of hell, but you’re stuck with somebody who has only just found out about the mildew.
pretending to care about the mildew. speaking with them calmly and compassionately about how mildew is definitely a real problem that people ought to take seriously, and waiting for them to take a good hard look at what’s really crawling up the walls.
thousand and one responses of “yes this is just my life and it’s going to be horrible forever” no you fuckers, hell a relief, the worst unknowable thing finally making itself abundantly obvious is a gift, if you’re not in hell yet keep digging because there is absolutely no other way out of that house.
white people hijack every single movement they join
white feminism is inherently racist and white women are a danger to poc
trends on tiktok like the 'shut it off' one show how self trained white women are to cry on command to get things they want, this does not mean anything by itself, but in the context of historical incidents, this is not only a weapon but one that can be pulled at any moment of disagreement with a poc, most commonly men of color therefore weaponizing the security of the white woman over the "violent brown/black man".
white feminism and white politics are centered around the exclusion of the perceived enemy which targets marginalized demographics such as poc, trans folk and sex workers, and about anyone who can be seen as a threat to the white womanhood and the white man's rage.
this is encouraged to be rbed by white folk but I'm not open to discussing anything with anyone.

Dorothy Allison, from Skin: Talking About Sex, Class and Literature, 1994
[”Write your stories any way you have to frame it to get it out, any time you can get it done. Use any trick. I want to know what it was that you looked at unflinchingly, even if you did not know what you were seeing at the time. If nothing else works, start by writing that story for me. Imagine me. I was born to die. I know that. If I could have found what I needed at thirteen, I would not have lost so much of my life chasing vindication or death. Give some child, some thirteen-year-old, the hope of a remade life. Tell the truth. Write the story that you were always afraid to tell. I swear to you there is magic in it, and if you show yourself naked for me, I’ll be naked for you. It will be our covenant.”]
