I have an absolutist stance on the phrase "man up". If you tell someone to "man up", I discard your opinion. If you are a self-proclaimed feminist and you tell someone to "man up", you should know better, and therefore I consider your personal credibility suspect. And if you say "man up" because you heard a transmasculine person say anything along the lines of "I dislike the way others treat me for being transmasc", then every transmasc person you know is justified in verbally ripping you to shreds. Not to put too fine a point on it, but there is no good reason to use this phrase in earnest, and I will not pretend that it doesn't make my blood boil. Put the toxic masculinity down. I'm no longer asking.

like this is not discourse. this is a carousel. it is a self-sustaining feedback loop for people who wish desperately to feed their own persecution complexes. no matter how many disclaimers or written out essays or olive branches offered. this crowd does not care about transgender liberation, only to use their own oppression as an excuse to take everyone else down with them.
I never understood the notion among non trans men that trans men have an easier time passing as cis men, because there are just no standards for how men should look compared to women
Have these people ever spoken to a cis man in their lives? There are people making bank off of cis men’s need to look visually masculine and appealing. There are embittered cis men who feel like they lost the genetic lottery because they don’t look like conventionally attractive men. There are cis male actors dehydrating themselves and living very unhealthy lives to get absurdly shredded for movies and TV shows
Not to mention how trans men have just as much toxic passing police issues as trans women. These guys are ruthless. Do we not remember Kalvin Garrah bullying non passing, neurodivergent, young transgender men? Do we not have any idea of what online trans men passing tips are, which are basically discard your interests and sense of self to pretend to be a frat boy?
These people literally think trans men throw on flannel and just call it a day, as if any trans man doesn’t know that flannel just makes you look like a baby dyke that just came out as a lesbian
Reminded that “socialization” theory, or whichever name you want to call it by, is the way the modern feminist movement managed to argue (for the first time in human history) that the oppression of women was not rooted in nature but in nurture in a misogynisitic culture.
Like I cannot stress enough how being asked to drop the idea that being assigned and raised female socializes you in a certain way is not just to ask people to close an eye and say a small white lie in order to spare people’s feelings, it is to drop a bomb that has the power to undo all of feminism on a molecular level.
if a trans man needs to hide the fact that he's trans in order to access any form of male privilege, i simply do not believe that is real privilege. i will, and never will, accept that the closet is a privilege. any queer person can go into the closet to access "privilege," and it's dumb when you all try to argue that bs too. are you not tired of making the exact same arguments about recycled queer groups every 5-10 years? nothing is ever new except the New Queer Enemy really IS privileged and evil this time, we promise!

I’m more than a little concerned at seeing recommended tumblr communities with names like “queer teens” or “nonbinary teens” and advertising themselves as a space for teenagers as young as 13 to make friends with each other. I don’t wanna sound like anyone’s dad here, but this is… not safe. Anyone can join those communities, they’re not private unless you make it private. You can’t trust that everyone in there is actually a teenager, so please don’t advertise your age or other people’s ages like that in online spaces. You can absolutely make private communities or discord servers with trusted friends, but not public communities that anyone can join, especially if those communities are specifically targeted at marginalised— and therefore vulnerable— teenagers.
