Introducing triedkiss
Who is triedkiss?
triedkiss is a projection of my best artistic self. I view my art account as an extension of me, but definitely as a separate entity too; I’ve become less bothered by numbers on social media thanks to this way of thinking. If I were to give my account a short blurb, I would say I’m inspired by fashion, horror and music so I hope everyone who shares the things I enjoy also like what I make
The use of severe red color, synthetic lighting, and hyper-saturated textures creates a kind of emotional overstimulation. Are you trying to amplify feeling, or simulate the numbness that comes from too much visual input?
This is an interesting question. Even during our last interview, red was my favourite colour. I like it because it’s so bold, eye-catching, and complements my other favourite colours to work with (black and turquoise) really well. Obviously I create horror art, and it’s the colour of blood and death and all that, so red would show up a lot. But yeah, I just really like the colour and it’s definitely to stimulate the senses rather than to dull them.
About the boundary between human and constructed identity, especially through distorted faces and artificial expressions. What does a “real” face mean to you in an era where everything is filtered, edited, and performed?
I really enjoy when artists draw faces with strong facial features. Though I don’t think I’m entirely there, I try not to make faces look too perfect. This way the characters feel like they could actually exist. For artists who have fictional characters, I’d say it’s hard not to make something that’s 100% authentic. But in the essence of someone’s art you can tell when something is made insincerely and complying to some gimmick, and that’s what I try to avoid.
There’s a theatrical violence in your work. Do you see your work as controlling chaos, or aestheticizing it?
I think that art has always craved drama. I don’t deny that my art can get violent, but I see it as recording an interesting subject rather than making it an aesthetic. I believe that in every instance I’ve depicted violence in my personal art it was for a narrative or symbolic purpose, because if there wasn’t a point it would just be meaningless gore, and that’s something I don’t want in my art. I’ve definitely also made pieces where I went back to look at and thought “what kinda edgy kid made this?”, and learned lessons from there. Because if you don’t respect your own art, who will?

For your modern genderbend Au:
What jobs do you think Javier, John, and even Arthur would have in this?
in my mind they would be posted up in trailer parks (like how they have wagons in the original) doing ad hoc jobs for money
id like to explore a more musical side too, with javier and his guitar
not sure about the others tho
Hi I really love your blog and artworks! If you don’t mind me asking is there a rule you follow when choosing colors?
thank you! my main rule rn is choosing complementary hues for shadows and highlights
why u only draw skinny figures?🤔
my artworks are mostly personal and i like to draw my own body type because it’s what i’m most familiar with… such an unserious question
