this should go without saying but please let jewish voices speak first. there's a lot to break down about the use of the six pointed star AND the history of occult imagery in correlation with antisemitic history in europe is complicated. as a jewish person, i would not immediately leap to the assumption that them using the six pointed star to show moon phases is inherently antisemitic in design, just more or less not a well thought-out choice of "occult imagery".

you can criticize something and be concerned about how it's presenting, but using distinct claims can minimize the impact of the word.

i saw that post come up and i actually want non-jewish people to put jewish voices first. i'm deeply uncomfortable with the reactionary nature, and i still dont believe it had antisemitic intentions, but rather a poor design choice by hot topic. there's historic antisemitic ties, but history has bastardized the symbol to modern views (unless they know harmful history) and without understanding the history it's so easily appropriated and something we should acknowledge in the context of removal.

be critical, but don't speak before jewish people. rate it poorly, acknowledge it's a poorly thought out design, but it puts jews in an uncomfortable position to speak. your concern is appreciated, but as a jewish person, i recognize how often this happens and it's better to deal with it by asking for hot topic's removal and better research.

if you're also jewish person, your anger is valid and if you react in such that's totally your own reaction and i validate that. this post simply states how i feel.
