i.e. why when you or someone else gets stabbed or impaled, you should leave the object in the wound until medical help arrives.
THIS. RIGHT HERE. This is an amazing example!!
If you take the thing out, they’re going to bleed a lot more.
SO. DONT.
News Flash from the Medical Help ™ — we don’t touch it either! Unless the object they’re impaled with is literally too big to fit in the ambulance, We. Don’t. Touch. The. Thing.
The only people qualified to Take-The-Thing-Out are surgeons. End of story.
Okay, but for the love of God, please, PLEASE, if you did, if you panicked and took the thing out…. DON’T…. PUT IT BACK IN.
Or else, congratulations, you just stabbed them AGAIN. I reeeeeally shouldn’t have to say this guys, but I do.
Congratulations,
YOU JUST STABBED THEM AGAIN
i feel like that last comment should be accompanied by a bill-wurtz-style jingle

Short comic, while I work on something bigger on the side. It is nevertheless a very important topic. A lot of seabirds die because they eat plastic. They feed their chicks with the waste. It’s really tragic.
me: *scares myself to the point where I can’t even function because of the anxiety I have created over a situation*
the situation: *works out fine*
me: oh
Again and again.
A little wrapped up comfy pup to encourage everyone to stay home if possible! Stay safe and mentally healthy you all! I hope these little comics can keep things bright even when the situation is dark.

I’m anxious about being able to concentrate, so when someone interrupts or distracts me, I can get overwhelmingly frustrated and angry. If you want to support me in making comics, here is my patreon! https://patreon.com/adhd_alien I also streamed while drawing the lines for this and I’m considering doing this regularly for patreons :>
this is so sad omg please give the snail a happy ending :(
@oodlemcdoodle can.. You…give him a happy ending..
Okay, hold on bud
@garecc
Okay but this can be interpreted as a lesson about disability, illness, and mental health. It might take *you* ten seconds to draw a big old orange line, but for some people it’s an enormous accomplishment. People whose hands shake, people with executive dysfunction, people with poor hand-eye coordination. This snail.
It may be easy for you to go out for groceries. Some people barely manage to get out of bed.
It may be easy for you to express yourself. Some people were never given the tools.
My life goals VS Executive Dysfunction. Or not knowing what you want from life because if you’d want it you’d do it...right??
This one is a little sad because I don’t have the answer myself yet. (I only have this problem unmedicated though)

A very simplified overview over the 3 diagnosable types of ADHD. It’s highly likely that you have symptoms from across the spectrum and not exclusively “hyperactive” or “inattentive” - that’s why I see ADHD( and ADD) as one big family. Look up the DSM-V for the actual symptom list!
I didn’t really think about social media formatting when making this, in case the big image isn’t readable, maybe these are :)
yesterday i read this article and it just made me so happy
I particularly loved this quote:
“We are sure they would be good parents because they were so nice to their stone.”
“Everyone has to do things they don’t like!!” There is an Important difference.
Just adding that this doesn’t replace a diagnosis and if you don’t consistently show on one side doesn’t mean you don’t have ADHD! It’s more a translation for Individual struggles for ADHD-Deniers ✌🏻
For all the ADD-Aliens:
I make the comics with you in mind just as much. I’m actually more inattentive than hyperactive myself and that probably reflects in the comics.
To simplify things I simply use the new, overarching term “ADHD” that includes the 3 subtypes inattentive, combined and impulsive-hyperactive!
I think it’s incredibly important for inattentive folks to be seen and for people to understand that there is not only the hyperactive folks. I absolutely like the idea of ADHD being a spectrum (being combined type myself). I don’t think ADD is any less severe or hindering than ADHD just because the hyperactivity is internalized.
And for the non-Aliens: our ADHD doesn’t become “better” when we have inattentive phases. We might just not be interrupting you because we are lost in the fog.
