Youn need the sound.
me: BRING OUT THE DEATH RAY!!!
*my henchmen wheel a large glass tank containing a tiny stingray into the room*
captive hero: aww!
me: QUIET! this is the deadliest ray known to man. one milli milli milligram of poison from its sting is enough to stop a grown man's heart in under a minute! and he answers only to me! behold your DOOM!
stingray: *nudges my hand*
me, getting down on my knees in front of the tank so i can look him in the eyes: Mortimer, please. i'm trying to be intimidating here.
you will
Sometimes the rats in my brain come together and start yelling “YEARNING” and in trying to appease them I ask “FOR WHAT” but they are too small so all they can say is “YEARNING” which is a very big word for such a tiny creature, even collectively
I loved this visual so much I had to doodle it.

i can't do this anymore guys. dostoevsky never wrote this. please. can anyone hear me. if you do proper research the earliest version of this quote is from like a 2010 facebook quote with a magenta flower on it. it's gotten so bad that it's even credited to him on goodreads but nobody can source where he wrote it because he fucking didn't. i can't keep seeing this in your web weaves. dostoevsky the author of crime and punishment did not in fact write "you were destined for me. perhaps as a punishment". that is just simply not true. please nod and tell me you understand
"this quote was attributed to me. perhaps as a punishment." -dostoevsky

The (European) sun is a deadly laser, stay safe everyone
☝️🤓 it’s because the further you move toward the earth’s poles, the lower the angle of the sun is at the hottest parts of the day, meaning the radiation hits your whole body, causing it to feel 10-20 degrees warmer than the thermometer reading will tell you. People from tropical climes, aka close to the equator, are used to the sun’s radiation hitting a much smaller target- their head and shoulders.
Also the further you move toward the poles the more pronounced the difference between the length of day and night is. Worst part of a far-north (or south) heatwave is it doesn’t get dark long enough for meaningful cooling.
It’s not the heat. It very literally is the sun.
This would have had me crucified on tumblr 10 years ago but maybe we are ready for this conversation now:
If you are a socially anxious person, you have to socialize. Your panic/anxiety attacks will only get worse and trigger more frequently if you constantly avoid contact with The Public. Not saying that you need to be a social butterfly- but there is a genuine problem with not being able to order your own meal at a restaurant. And it cannot be solved by always having someone else do it for you.
This is a PSA to about 3/4s of the Portland Youth populace
everyone who reblogs this and is like "I ordered my own tea this week" or "I only barfed once when I had to give a presentation'- you are doing amazing sweetie. Have patience with yourself, you are relearning a skill so difficult that people get 4 year degrees to do it professionally.
Decades ago, as a young(TM), my first job required calling people on the phone. Prior to that, I hated the phone. I hated talking to people I wasn't able to see in front of me. I hated the machine intermediary.
The first three days on this job were awful. I was scratching my arms in anxiety. The first month required constant pep talk in front of my mirror. But there was no alternative: I needed the pay and to get paid, I had to emit and take phone calls.
5 months into the job, I could call any stranger without fear or shame. 15 years later, COVID hit and I was able to get promoted at my company at the time, ,solely because I was the master of Zoom and Teams video calls. I made sure everybody could talk and contribute and felt welcome and not too weird.
I'm not gonna lie, that phone job was hard. I probably wouldn't have push through if it wasn't for the need of money. And I wish everyone with the same anxiety to tackle it slowly with maybe phone calls to loved ones first, then billing companies or whatever and NOT having to cold call customers every 15 minutes. (And I consider myself lucky as it was only customer survey/support and not trying to sell something vile to old people.)
All that to say, push yourself sometimes.
There are a lot of people in the notes saying, basically, "Yeah, that's polyester for ya!"
but, the thing is
even polyester fabric was higher quality in the past
yes, not all of it, but, still, a noticeable amount of older polyester was...nicer.
yeah, it would still get picks and hold on to every bit of underarm odor, and that's on top of no-one knowing about microplastic shedding
but a 1950s Wash'n'Wear shirt, or 1970s double knit pantsuit, or 1980s neon sweatshirt, or a 1990s slinky knit or crushed velour mock turtleneck...so many of them would have been significantly higher quality than the fast fashion of today.
i work in historical costume. i work in a big-ass warehouse, with hundreds of thousands articles of clothing dating back over 100 years (for original pieces).
the BLINDING difference in clothing quality between even the 1990s and the mid-2000s...not even going in to the decline in quality of clothing made in natural fibers (jeans with elastane, i'm looking at you), I've got faux-leather trousers from 1980s that are in near-mint condition, even after being hired and worn repeatedly for the past 40 years. we get donations of clothing that shows and films have bought online for contemporary shows that are disintegrating after being used on one show, for like....10 days, max.
don't even get me started on the seam allowances we used to get in clothes, because the assumption was you'd alter it at some point...
they hate you. they hate the planet. they have drip fed you worse and worse quality clothing until you don't even realize you're being sold Garbage
i have a suggestion
Hey can you guys reblog Cheeseburger so he can take a sunbeam nap on lots of blogs. No other reason I just want you guys to see him.
So, Cheeseburger died on November 21st after an unfairly short battle with an unfairly rare cancer that is rarely seen in cats. I only got to spend a month with him after his diagnosis, and losing him has been the greatest heartbreak of my entire life so far. He was my best friend and my soul cat, and he was there for me when I was completely alone, for twelve long years.
I made this transparent PNG the night he died in preparation for one of the many ways I was going to memorialize him--a surface rug in his likeness that I planned on laying directly in the line of his favourite sunbeam. And I uploaded that PNG here, because this is the website where people post their cats.
I was not expecting the reception I got. Many people have pointed out that this post has more reblogs than likes, and how insane that is in 2025 when reblog culture is at an all time low. I didn't even talk about the fact that Burger passed away in the original post, it wasn't a tearjerker reblog bait or anything like that. People just loved Burger that much, in the same way I fell in love with him at first sight. He was such an ugly kitten.
Anyways, it's really special to me that so many people have reblogged my best friend. I made this PNG to memorialize him in a completely different way, and you all wound up doing just that in ways I never even imagined.
Thank you. Wherever he is, I know the sun is shining.
“you support gay rights so you must be gay”

In today's episod of "improving my life by 1%" I've cleaned one room's windows. There are 4 other rooms in the flat, but I did a little and that counts.
Thanks to Tumblr, I've discovered Darebee, a free fitness website with tons of ressources and I'm day 2 into a streak. It's not much and I'm sticking to the exercise of the day, but for me it's already a lot. Let's hope I'll keep going for as long as possible.
Day 3 is done !
Day 5 and a continuous streak.
I know it's just a small exercice but maybe i can keep the habit and then build up.
Same Man different timelines tbh...
I can't explain it but yes. It's the same character.
