you know how they say "everyone is the main character of their own story"?
that's a complete lie. it's not true for me, and unfortunately, it's not true for YOU either. i know this for a fact because i've already met life's main character
when i was 19 i went to study abroad, and while i was there i met this guy who became my closest friend despite the fact that we are literally opposite people in every conceivable aspect
naturally, that means he's also straight up the nicest person i've ever met; if someone needs something, he will drop everything and fully commit to helping them with no hesitation
anyway, one day we had agreed to eat lunch together, so i was waiting by the door to the cafeteria, and these two girls i'd never seen before walked up but didn't go in. i thought maybe i was blocking the doorway, so i was like, "oh you can go ahead of me i'm just waiting for [friend]"
they looked at each other, and one of them said "actually, we're also waiting for him, i mentioned i lost my glasses and he went to search all the classrooms, he just texted me to say he found them"
then two more people none of us knew showed up. and we were like "oh you can go ahead of us, we're just waiting for [protagonist]".
and they were like "uh, we're also waiting for him, there are these three books i need from the local library and he offered to find them for me".
then a group of three walked up. and i half-jokingly said "let me guess, you're waiting for [hero]??"
and they stared at me like i'd turned into a dolphin and were like "oh, uh...yeah. he's printing off flyers for us. do you guys like... know each other??"
over time, four more people we'd never met came over to wait with us. eventually we stopped asking what they were there for.
instead, we all just stood there in complete silence for fifteen minutes because we had absolutely nothing to say to each other. just twelve dickheads in a doorway with "!" exclamation marks above our heads waiting for the player to trigger our NPC dialogue and turn in our sidequests. 3/3 books collected, 20/20 flyers printed
