Every year, I see people posting about wearing sweaters during the summer heat, prepping to die during the summer. Well, dont worry, I got chu <3
As someone that's been a $h-er since I was 10-11yo, here are some tips to surviving the summer heat 🩷
#1: Please buy urself some Arm sleeves, Gloves, Tights.
These are a life savers during those hot summer days. You can buy them at any Party city / Spencers / Hot topic / Amazon/ Aliexpress / etc...
(( They have so many more options, textures, fabrics, lengths- Spencers has some fishnet BODY suits which cover ur whole body <3, + so many different colors!!!))
((( First two pics r from a Party City website, the next two r from a Hot Topic website.)))
OR u can make ur own out of some old tights, cheap ones from the dollar store, etc... This way, u can control the lengths, rips, add accessories, do whatever <3
OR You can even get those cheap compression socks from the dollar store and cut them to the length of what ur tryna cover.
((( I find these good for swimming. They dont move and are so thin and breathable that I dont itch after swimming in them, they just feel like another layer of my skin lol.)))
Tights, even the mesh ones, help make ur leg/thigh scars a LOTTT less noticeable, with plain tights ur scars will look like normal snags in the fabric. With Mesh tights, ur scars will blend in with the designs.
((I've worn lace, mesh, ripped, thick tights, fur tights, etc... Even my thick scars dont show underneath the patterns, some of them even hid my tattoos lolz!!!))
#2: KEEP HYDRATED!!! Make sure u keep up with ur electrolytes!!!
Even if ur taking a break from $h 4 the summer, ur body is still healing. Make sure u keep hydrated, especially if ur wearing thick / layered clothing!!! Passing out is not fun!!!
Keep a Gatorade, or other electrolyte drink with u. Keep hydrated while drinking these!!! 3L water everyday!!!
(( ^^^ For some people 3L is too much, please take a min to understand ur body and find out how much water YOU should be getting in a day!!! <3)
#3: A great investment is some cooling rags / ice packs / things like that.
Your scars may be affected when ur body gets too hot. It hurts when ur scars start to burn or itch. THATS when the ice packs will come in handy!!!
One pack on the scars that are hurting and another on the back of ur neck to help keep ur body cool!!!
Yes, if ur body gets too hot- it can affect ur scars- ESPECIALLY if u have nerve damage!!! The pain is not worth it. Please get urself some cooling pads!!!
#4: COTTON / SPANDEX / NYLON clothing!!!
Spandex clothing is amazing for scarred skin!!! Very breathable and some clothing will have a cooling effect- GET THEM!!!
sometimes the tightness of wearing gloves and sleeves get too much, especially on those very hot days, a baggy spandex long sleeve/other clothing is amazing!!! They sell cooling undergarments at Sports Check, Canadian tire, and other Outdoorsy Stores.
Baggy shirts + boyshorts r my go-to summer fit. That way I can layer it with gloves/arm sleeves + tights. ((Honestly the only fit ppl will see me in during the summer!))
((( I have a spandex and polyester pullover That I wear during the summer *+30° / +80°f* Cuz the spandex in the sweater has this cooling effect. It literally savesss my arm during those hot days!!!)))
#5: Keep up with ur fiber!!! AVOID SCURVY AT ALL COST!!!
What's scurvy?: Scurvy is a disease caused by a serious vitamin C deficiency. (typically 2-3 months deficiency of vitamin C.)
Severe scurvy can RE-OPEN OLD SCARS. This is why Fibre is incredibly important!!! ((Scar tissue is made up of collagen, in a vitamin C deficiency it will break down the collagen in the old scars. causing them to reopen / including: stretch marks.))
They sell fiber supplements at Walmart / London Drugs / Pharmacies / etc... It can be in many different forms: pills, dissolve powder, gummies, etc...
That's all i can think about rn, but if anyone has any more tips, please include them!!! Being a SH-er during the summer is hard aff, even in R3c0v34y, even if ur just taking a break. Summer is a bitch to all lolz.
