Had a solid continuous 28 minutes of energy and motivation to do something, but I couldn't choose what to pick up that I could work on, so I spent the whole 28 minutes trying to decide, and then it wore off. Back to eepy.
New York City ballet production of Midsummer Nights Dream
The fact this isn't a painting is a testament to one of the greatest feats of set design and production I've ever seen.
My god just look at this! The lighting, set design, photography... I've just never seen anything like it.
This is from 1966 and you can see over a hundred photos on the NYPL digital collections website. It is absolutely gorgeous. These are just a few of my favourites.

John Oliver starring in Days of Our Lives this week
John's character is Devlin St. John, a Salem water sanitation engineer... with a sewage plant named after him.
Art imitates life.

Ways to spark your writing again!!
✧ Write a character who becomes the person they swore they'd never turn into, and the moment they finally notice
✧ let a sibling rivalry outlive the reason it started, so neither of them remembers what they're actually still fighting about
✧ have a character keep a dead person's number in their phone, and text it on the bad nights
✧ a character finally gets everything they wanted, years too late for it to fix anything
✧ write two people who fall in love at the wrong time, and choose the timing over each other
✧ let a character realize the "strong one" in the family was never given permission to fall apart
✧ someone spends a lifetime becoming impressive enough to earn a parent's approval that was never coming
✧ write a character who confuses being needed for being loved, and the year it finally breaks them
✧ a friendship survives everything except the two of them simply growing into different people
✧ let a character say "I'm fine" so many times that even they start to believe it, right up until they don't
✧ write someone who finally leaves, and instead of relief, just feels the size of the life they gave up
✧ a character keeps a promise to someone who's no longer alive to know they kept it
✧ write two people who love each other but never learned how to say sorry first
✧ a character becomes a parent and finally understands, and can't decide if that makes it better or worse
✧ write someone who gets the apology they always wanted, and finds out it doesn't undo anything
Look I don't think Supergirl (2026) is secretly a perfect masterpiece or anything (I personally thought it was like. a 6/10 fun time) but I do think it's wild that Tumblr isn't going crazy for it because this Kara is one coattailed suit away from being a Tumblr sexyman. she is the flawed messy female character people have supposedly been clamouring for. she's the popular archetype of a gruff self-destructive alcoholic middle-aged man begrudgingly having to look after a kid and growing fond of them but genderswapped and also 23. she's allowed to be visibly messy and kind of gross and her hair is constantly all over the place and she literally cries, screams, throws up, and pisses onscreen. she's caustic and mean and puts up an act of carelessness but has a heart of gold. she's heavily traumatised and coping with it terribly. if anything happens to her dog she will kill everyone in this room and then herself. she spends most of the movie in a trench coat and baggy band T-shirt. she gets into bar brawls and breaks a guy's hand. she is Going Through It 24/7 and looks the part. she stabs a guy in the throat. how is everyone else not obsessed with her.

I think I promised to post this about a month ago but neglected to because he was serving too much cunt and it was scaring me. Anyway, behold: medieval Snape in two mostly finished versions
The most impressive thing about Starkid is it's ability to make me invested in straight relationships.
once I snorted a fat line of nuance and everything started depending. watch out
Don't come at me for saying this but I do believe that the reason, the actual main reason why people usually see Will as the more feminine and submissive part of byler and usually put him as bottom is because he's gay. That's it. Will is canonically gay so he has to be "the girl". It's all homophobia. Like it comes from homophobia and gay stereotypes. Will is gay in canon so he has to be "the woman" and feminine in a way that feels derogatory and insulting to him and relies on disrespectful gay stereotypes and misogyny (because according to misogyny the woman has to be submissive to the man). Mike is not canonically confirmed to be gay and so in the fandom that makes him "less gay" than the confirmed gay character and therefor less feminine too. Cause he's only "technically gay". So he is "the man" of the relationship and has to be the dom top because heteronormative misogyny.
People also never let Mike enjoy gay or overall queer experiences. He doesn't get to wear crop tops or makeup or want to feel pretty or sit on Will's lap or be a little girly and fuck around with his gender. Mike doesn't get to be feminine, he doesn't get to be gay because he's straight in textual canon and so he has to be the man who never shows any genuine emotions and never has any desires other than to fuck this other guy who is actually gay. Mike isn't allowed to be involved in gay culture, he doesn't do gay culture. Mike doesn't get wanting to be taken care of or wanting to submit or wanting to bottom because that's Gay and Mike Isn't Gay. Will is gay though so he Has to do all those things!!!! That's what people sound like when they get pressed about bylers who like or prefer bottom Mike btw. They think making him bottom is emsaculating for Mike and therefor that's bad because he isn't gay enough to be emasculated or whatever.
I've seen many explanations as to why this specific dynamic for byler has become so much the norm and is being so agressively pushed on everyone, when, if you actually watch the show, you'll see that Mike is much more of a caretaker (stereotypically feminine trait) and behaves more "submissive" around Will, literally physically putting himself below Will multiple times, and both of them show signs of experimenting with gender and being more gender non conforming. But I do think that, out of all the reasons this could have, it all boils down to the fact that in textual canon Will is gay and Mike isn't. And gay men are always more feminine than straight men, according to homophobes. And I'm not saying bylers are homophobes, but I do think that that is the underlying issue we need to work on here, the reason for why this intense need for Will to be sub bottom and Mike to be dom top exists in this fandom.
The show tells you that Will had to deal with period typical homophobia, being called sensitive and queer and literal slurs, being called girly things and weak just because they think he's gay. That's how he's being introduced to viewers. And fans just go along with it (even though not too long before that they saw a whole scene of Will being very brave and strong, knowing how to use a literal gun!! but whatever that doesn't count I guess). They—likely unconsciously—use this exact thing to justify why Will has to be submissive, why he has to be bottom. And then what they're actually doing is using the homophobia that Will has faced for so long against him, to police his sex life and act like their view of it should be only correct one, when queer sex is so much more than lazy heteronormative dynamics.
I just wrote 8 pages when I haven't written in months and was beginning to think I'd never be able to again. Idk what it is, but I am sharing and manifesting this energy for every writer who sees this. May you write 8 quality pages effortlessly and find joy writing once more
8 pages you say
One of the guys I worked with told us a story about how, when they were doing archaeology surveys in the woods they ran into a bigfoot hunter. Bigfoot guy asked if they had seen signs of bigfoot, and he was like "Sorry, nothing like that. We're archaeologists, so we're looking for human stuff." and the bigfoot guy was like "Oh! I saw some Native American cairns on my way out here. I can give you a general location." and when he was like "Yeah dude, that'd be sick. We're actually looking to document those." the bigfoot guy was like "Yeah, they looked pretty cool. I didn't touch them though, because Native Americans built them, not bigfoot."
I have mixed thoughts on sex work. I love sex, but I hate work!
“Yeah, we hate seeing you work too!”
how does this post keep getting better
The Angel of Death
FISTS YOU
And then you Die
Context: my teacher translated the verb “to grasp with one’s hand” as “to fist” since that’s kinda what it literally means, but you can’t translate it like that into English because “to fist” means something ENTIRELY different, but she doesn’t know that.
So she was explaining how they use the verb to describe the angel of death taking your soul — he rips your soul out of you with his fist. Now that’s pretty damn metal, but she said word for word “the angel of death fists you, and then you die” which is the single most terrifying and powerful sentence to ever grace my ears
Op i appreciate the context but i was going to rb anyway no questions asked
