Was looking through some of my old work and I found some stuff from spring last year when i was working to update my character design portfolio. I wanted to keep getting work on action adventure shows so I thought a Skyrim; the animated series project would be good fit. The art style ended up being too difficult to keep up consistently so I abandoned the idea, but I like these concepts for the argonian barkeep lady. I think she's cute

not seeing a lot of people on here talking about ICE murdering another man yesterday. His name was Lorenzo Salgado Arajou. He was a Mexican man living in Huston Texas. He was killed at age 52 and lived the past 35 years here in the USA, and was in the process of obtaining a work permit. He was shot and killed during a traffic stop that ICE claims was part of a targeted operation, and claimed he was “weaponizing his vehicle”- the same claim ICE agents made when they shot and murdered Renee Good.

During the stop, Lorenzo had 3 coworkers with him in his truck who have all been taken into ICE custody.

His family described Lorenzo as a hardworking family man who didn’t deserve to be killed. All he wanted was to provide for his wife and see his sons become great people. His eldest son recognized his father by his cries and pleas when trying to identify who the victim was.

The Salgado Araujo family has set up a gofundme to help with funeral and legal costs, and to help keep their family supported since Lorenzo was the sole provider.

her story is a beautiful trans allegory. her story is about being fat and being brown. her story (like many of sam's pcs) is about being jewish. her story is about young motherhood and conservatism. her story is about womanhood and what it means to be a woman. her story is about loving your family. her story is about resenting your family. her story is about alcoholism and overcoming addiction.

I accidentally deleted an anon ask T_T, but I wanted to reiterate it in a text post because i feel like it's a valid question many artists start out struggling with!!

Firstly, thank you so much!!

Art styles are a bit of an overrated topic imo. I genuinely believe that everyone naturally has their own 'art style' no matter how much they try to skew the way they draw. Art style isn't just something visual, it's also innate-- an amalgamation built from all your inspirations, tastes, the little lazy short cuts you take, the topics you decide to draw, etc... I wouldn't be too worried about 'finding your art style'. instead, focus on having fun with art and it WILL come out. Even if you don't see it, others will! If anything, exploring *different* art styles is absolutely a great thing! You can pick and choose your favourite parts of every 'style' you try out, learn what you like or don't like, and it forces you to go outside your comfort zone and continue learning. The mindset of committing to an 'art style' feels very limiting to me, and could stagnate your artistic progress.

To this day I also wonder if I have my own 'art style'-- but I notice it in little ways. Colours I like using, topics or compositions I repeat subconsciously, certain elements I like drawing... I know it'll always be there no matter how far I try to branch out.

Hopefully this helps out people struggling with the same question!! I love talking about art so thank you for sending this ask!

New law puts Kansas at vanguard of denying trans identities on drivers licenses, birth certificates

Kansas is set to invalidate about 1,700 driver's licenses held by transgender residents and roughly as many of their birth certificates.

Kansas has sent a letter to each of their trans residents saying they are suspending their drivers licenses, effective today (February 26th), with no grace period for updating credentials. It directs trans people to go to a DMV to surrender their old license and be issued a new one that shows their sex as the one assigned at birth. (Though they can’t drive themselves to the DMV because, y’know, their drivers licenses are suspended.)

They are doing this the extra cruel way on purpose. If they knew which people to send this letter to, then they could have just as easily just automatically mailed them replacement licenses. But forcing them to make arrangements to travel to a DMV, present themselves in person (to be potentially humiliated/deadnamed by the DMV employees to their faces), and to be unable to drive themselves to their work/school in the interim, are all just ways of making this process even harder. And because there’s a National Driver Register database that lists individual drivers’ status and history information, it’s not necessarily even as simple as just moving to a different state and get a new license issued there, because it will presumably show their previous license as being suspended.

Someone has been comparing this to the day in 1938 when the German government invalidated all German passports held by Jewish people, forcing them to surrender their old passports and instead have passports stamped with a “J” for Jewish on them.

For trans people, carrying an ID that misgenders them opens them to intrusive questions, harassment, and even violence.

There’s a nonprofit in Colorado, the Trans Continental Pipeline, that helps queer people relocate from unaccepting/unsafe states to Colorado. Colorado shares a border with Kansas, and is the closest blue state. Apparently they are getting overwhelmed with requests. If you have spare money to donate, now seems like a good time. If you’re in Colorado and have time to volunteer, their volunteer form is here.

There is some question as to whether or not they can actually enforce this as the 14th amendment is supposed to prohibit this exact kind of thing to driver’s licenses without due process, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ we’re living in clown world and they don’t care. I haven’t seen anyone with legal knowledge weigh in yet, and I’m on my lunch break and can’t go digging like I’d like to.
