I completed my first FPP pattern! It's a gift for a friend of mine called Robin, who is moving further away with their partner.
I had a lot of fun visiting a local quilt shop and picking out nice prints for this. At the beginning I struggled a lot with right sides and turning the fabric and the paper templates, but then it suddenly clicked and it was smooth sailing from then on.
Still haven't figured out how to properly resize patterns meant for US printers to print them on European sized paper, so I had a friend print the pattern for me.
I'm super happy with how this turned out, but I think I prefer traditional piecing and will only occasionally revisit FPP.
Pattern is The European Robin by Griffin and the Bear Studios.
i'm sooooooo close to being done this quilt! I finally got all the hand appliquéd elements on last night (there's like 54 or something haha). I'm just waiting on some hand quilting thread & I need to piece the backing & then I'll be practically done.
This is my own design. I did all the math & figured out how to do my weird ratio of half-rectangle triangles. I made my own foundation paper piecing templates for sections. And I even learned the accursed pen tool in order to make vector templates for the appliqué elements.
more pics of the dinosaur quilt now that its all assembled! Happy with the bright colors and the neon green flannel backing thats super cozy and thick. I'm already picking out colors and plans for the next quilting project. Third picture shows my cat making herself a blanket fort cave and attempting to burrow into it.
I made something 🥰🎉🎉
Get from one word to another by adding, removing, or changing one letter at a time.
It has a daily mode that resets at UTC midnight. I’ve had fun with it with some friends - hopefully other people find it fun too :)
Lmk if you have any feedback
''i liked math until they added letters'' is so funny. math sucked ass until they added letters
Just so y’all know, this is what I picture whenever any of you are talking about whatever the hell Tomodachi is
I present the batta fish. It is cute and very friendly shaped.

Anyone who tells you you are only safe among people exactly like you is a fascistic liar.
My rapist was nonbinary and bi. My deeply Lutheran grandma was the first person to fully accept me as trans in my primarily liberal athiestic/agnostic family. Years ago my social life was ruined by another trans masculine person who intentionally destroyed all of my close friendships. One of my current closest friends is a cishet guy who has a friend group that is almost entirely populated of queer people because a bunch of his friends have come out around him since high school.
Fascists want you scared and isolated and alone. The way to combat that is to trust other people. And yeah. Trusting other people is vulnerable and can lead to hurt, but sometimes the people you trust blindly based on identity will be the ones who hurt you the most and the ones you dismiss blindly based on identity will be the ones who can keep you the safest.
finally finished my first quilt! entirely handsewn lionfish :^)
A sweet apple needle book I designed for a birthday recipient 🍎 The “pages” are stitched down the center, and I sewed little black buttons between the pages for 1) realism (seeds) 2) creating extra space for needles. The apple stem is old bias tape, and the ties are worms!!! 🪱
Chuckles Quilt is finished and survived the first wash! This is my first sewing project, my first quilt, and the first big creative project I have finished since 2020 so I'm super happy and proud.
Total work time was about 53 hours, the majority of that was spend on the fish blocks and figuring out how to use a sewing machine.
I really fell in love with quilting while doing this!! I feel like it's the perfect combination of jigsaw puzzle and textile art.
Pattern is Chuckles by Elizabeth Hartmann.
Spent a good part of today assembling the rows of my Old Town quilt into a quilt top!
I love how fun and colourful it turned out, but I feel like it could use a narrow border of the dark navy fabric to finish off the edges. Would love to hear what all of you think about that!
And, of course, as soon as it hit the floor Meara had to have a snuggle. After all, quilts are made for puppies!
