Ngl body horror or the skinwalker trope could be a pretty good metaphor for attempting to heal ur trauma and becoming a new person if done right. Like just peeling your old, dirty and scarred skin with patches of eczema and potential injuries that you did with your own hand off of your body and replacing it with a new and clean skin of someone else that hasn't faced the same thing as your old skin did. Or even the same thing with your mind! Sort of just cutting the bad parts (memories) of it off with a rusty scalpel in order to just feel pure again..

Seems fascinating, right?

But what if something else happens to you that puts you in the same position? Would you have painfully peeled your skin off once more? Would you have to cut more brain bits until you physically and mentally can't function anymore? Is the blood and tissue that falls on your sweat covered forehead, body, and flesh even worth it?
