What would you change about tsc if you could??

omg i have so many

- simon staying a vampire and instead of tales of shadowhunter academy we get a downworlder centric collection of stories, i think the downworlders r rlly interesting but we don’t see much about them, i haven’t read most of the tales of shadowhunter academy stories bc they sounded boring

- tessa using her magic more

- grace killing tatiana instead of cordelia

- matthew and cordelia being endgame (i was rooting for them so hard and i really thought they were going to end up together) overall i thought they were just more interesting to read together

- more gideon in tlh (he is one of my top tsc characters so i am incredibly bias towards him), i felt like everything going on had a lot to do w him but he was nowhere to be seen, would have loved to see him interact w grace and jesse

- idk how to explain it well but i think magnus should’ve been madder at alec for almost making a deal w camille, like it felt like he forgave him v easily. i also think that magnus and alec weren’t developed v well in tmi bc most of their relationship was off page so i think they should’ve been developed more on page or in their side series

- more raphael he was so so so cool and i miss him v badly

- mark and helen mark and helen mark and helen mark and helen like i felt like we only got two seconds of them mark wanted to see his sister so bad and i wanted to see them reconnect again after being separated for so long

- no luciejesse, not a fan of this couple at all (i also thought the him not being fully dead was a dumb reason for his resurrection to not be bad)

- lowkey didn’t like anna so i would change most of the things about her character

- ok this one might sound crazy but when i first read tmi (nearly ten years ago) i was so convinced ty was a changling (similar to tessa’s mom) bc of how they kept saying he looked more elfish or faerie like than mark and helen and i kinda wouldn’t hate it if he was i think that would be rlly interesting

- no mark cristina and kieran, didn’t like them as a couple

- umm the giant julian and emma thing idk what id change it to but i didn’t love it

- christopher not dying or if he did die, just in a different manner i felt like it wasn’t handled great

- matthew becoming a werewolf, i remember this was a popular theory when tlh came out and man it would’ve been so cool

- i don’t like the thule or janus storylines at all, it’s rather boring to me and i hope it’s not that big in twp tbh but w the recent snippet i think it might be

- make magnus, alec, and izzy bigger characters in tmi, felt like they were kinda underutilized

- MORE HELEN AND ALINE!! PLEASE!!!!!!!! PLEASEEEE!!!!

- MORE ALASTAIR!! most interesting tlh character, carried every scene he was in so hard

- this one is rlly specific but when thomas told his family he was in love w alastair, eugenia was disappointed in how her parents reacted (not disowning thomas) and i hated that soooo much it felt so unnecessary to add like y would she be disappointed so i would just remove that

additionally, while not necessarily to do with the lore, i think the better in black stories shouldve been about different couples rather than the main couples, i would’ve rlly loved to see characters we didn’t get as much of like maia and bat, helen and aline, johnny and rosemary, sophie and gideon

now i’ll b honest idk how faerie magic works that much in tsc specifically but i think it would be sick as fuck if kit’s fighting style was similar to the breathing techniques in demon slayer, i was thinking like rengoku or giyuu’s, where like the water or flames run off the sword (idk if that’s the best way to describe it but it looks so cool) since kit has a (faerie?) sword in the newest art and magic

my favorite scene in tsc will forever and always be when gideon announces that he intends to marry sophie at the breakfast table in clockwork princess, i love it so much it’s just so fun, magnus’s introduction in city of bones is a close second tho bc he’s just so cunty in that scene

when jem told raphael lily was in love w him i honestly didn’t believe it bc i never got that vibe from lily so like that just doesn’t exist to me like lily clearly loves him but i don’t think she was ever in love w him romantically

the way kit describes tessa’s outfit when she asks him to come live with her and jem is exactly how i imagine her dressing in modern times, cute dresses with headbands like she is so cute omg

just realized kit has never met lily before. this is criminal. they would get along so well. he would find lily’s nicknames for jem hilarious.

genuinely one of my favorite things in tsc ever is kit going to live w jem and tessa. i think even if kit and ty didn’t have a falling out, kit still should’ve gone to live with jem and tessa. jem took to being kit’s father figure immediately and you can tell he loves kit so much. he listened to kit go on and on about things jem already knows. and jem can train him one on one. jem also understands kit’s loneliness. tessa was able to let kit really see his mother and share stories about her and how much she loved kit and how she did everything for him. you can tell they both care about him so much. and kit loves being a big brother so much and his bond with mina is so adorable. kit finally knows what it like to be part of a loving family and that’s beautiful. everything about it is just so perfect. i love the little carstairs family so much. i think kit should pull a jace and go by christopher jonathan herondale carstairs.

idk if this is a dumb question but if the unseelie king is dead, emma and julian killed the riders, kieran is the new king (i can’t remember if he knows kit is the first heir but either way i don’t think he would hurt kit), so like who is hunting kit? like who r they protecting him from? is it the seelie queen? i don’t rlly remember her caring much about him either and i don’t think it’s janus bc all he seems to care about is clary so idk

i’m rereading tda and i’m just constantly reminded why ty is my favorite character, he’s so cool. he threw himself over his sister to protect her, loves mysteries especially sherlock holmes, has an elegant incomprehensible handwriting that looks like cat footprints dancing across a page, slept in front kit’s door bc he has a crush on him, goes into battles despite hating them to protect his family, puts pudding on his toast, loves setting the table, sneaks animals into the institute, loves his twin sister so much he committed a crime against nature to bring her back and never be separated again, gets annoyed when others try to protect him, has an interest in photography, has hands that flutter like butterflies, stays up late reading even after julian told him to go to bed, notices everything, is liked at the shadowmarket bc he’s kind and unthreatening, loves sharing facts about animals, cried when kit said he wished he never met him, doesnt have time for superheroes, gave kit his first rune and witchlight, would rather read books than watch movies, enjoys eavesdropping on others’ conversations, freed the caged pixies at the shadowmarket, wears his headphones less around kit, writes detective manuals, doesnt do anything for no reason, got excited at the thought of bears at the scholomance, stays up late laughing with kit, loves classical music, doesn’t mind if kit knows he failed, says words to make his mind quieter, likes watching the ceiling fan, blushed when kit said he’d miss him if he left, rescued an injured lynx, likes throwing knives, lets kit take food from his plate, punishes himself for a mistake he made when he was grieving, loves kit but is waiting for kit to forgive him before he tells him. he’s just so great, i can’t wait to read his perspective in the wicked powers

i hope dru and thais r parabatai or have agreed to be parabatai in twp bc i wanna see more female parabatais. has cc released any information on this? will dru have a parabatai? does thais play a big role in twp? all i know is that they r friends at the academy but maybe i missed an update about it, idk!

just got to the sophideon proposal scene in clockwork princess and wow. gideon's declaration beforehand, henry asking which one of benedict's friends gideon was going to marry, gabrily eavesdropping, gideon's apology and sophie correcting him that he hadn't proposed, gabriel's happiness when sophie corrects him, gideon's proposal, sophie asking him if he had practiced it and gideon using the word extemporaneous, their kiss being broken up by bridget singing about a couple who got married and died two days later, sophie saying she's going to murder her and correcting herself to call him gideon instead of mr lightwood. nobody did it like them.
