adhd eda headcanons because that's what's on my brain rn
specifically, she has adhd-ph (predominantly hyperactive/impulsive), but there are definitely some inattentive traits as well, which especially show as she gets older
was definitely one of those adhd kids whose neurodivergent traits were always labelled as "disruptive"
it's the main reason why she always pulled so many pranks and caused so much mischief, natch. she just wasn't being stimulated enough and when she'd try to do it in harmless ways, it was "disruptive" anyway so...
all of her elaborate pranks would always be results of stuff she daydreamed about in class
gwen realized early on that eda would chill out if she had something to do with her hands so she'd constantly buy her building sets (like the boiling isles equivalent of lego) and fidget toys
she'd bring the fidget toys to class and dumbass teachers kept taking them away until gwendolyn came storming into the school in Mama Bear Mode
when she didn't have anything to do with her hands, she'd often stim by picking at her fingernails until they broke off
she doodled the most random junk in boring classes just so she could have some stimulation and ended up actually becoming a great artist (not that she ever draws anymore)
the secret room of shortcuts was definitely created while in Hyperfixation Mode
she made the whole thing in one day and was surprised when she left the school to find that it was nighttime and lilith was standing outside the school crying thinking something bad had happened
her report card would consist of nothing but As in classes she really loved and Ds and Fs in ones she hated. no in between
she'd usually switch which kind of magic she'd study in the shortcut room on the fly once she learned a spell she specifically wanted to learn, but not long after she befriended/fell for rayne, she totally hyperfixated on bard magic for about two weeks
until the curse started to wear her energy down, this girl was Insomniac with a capital I. like, lilith was lucky that she was actually sleeping the night she cursed her because she was almost always doodling or watching something on the crystal ball because she was too amped up to sleep
falling asleep in class definitely wasn't a problem tho. she'd have done that even if she *wasn't* running on 2- hours of sleep every day
gifted kid burnout was strong with this one and later in her school years, she envied lilith's good grades and good work ethic even if she pretended not to care
the whole "used to be able to read entire novels in one sitting but now can't sit still or pay attention long enough to even read a full page" adhd trope is strong with her as well. see all those books on the bookshelf in her room? half of them she hasn't read since she was like ten at the oldest and the other half, she intended to read but never could get the drive to
and that is the reason why the audiobook is her favorite human invention
the curse sucking her energy was absolutely miserable for a while because she'd still have so much Brain Energy with no way to release it
the human realm as a whole was her longest lasting hyperfixation
luz, having been diagnosed with adhd for a long ass time, was the first to actually suggest that perhaps all of the above is adhd
