Some of the finisehd parts for the 20 Steve Kits,
Once again I’m running behind, I planned on shipping kits on last Monday (the 20th) but i had 3 doctors appointments pop up the week before unexpectedly. As a few of you know who watch my personal Facebook page Ive been having a bit of a health scare going on since March, Its the reason I’m soo behind on Steve and everything else I’m working on. I hoped to quickly get all this resolved and put behind me so i wouldn’t even have to mention it but going through the medical system is a surprisingly slow and incredibly frustrating process and because it keeps getting in the way of my work i thought everyone was owed an explanation.
Back at the end of march, I noticed an unusual pain in my lower abdomen, I had just moved a bunch of furniture so i assumed i pulled a muscle (possibly a hernia) so i went to see my doctor, he didn’t think it was a hernia but scheduled a CT scan just to make sure (some hernias if left untreated can be rather serious apparently) I had the CT scan done and a week later i was called into the doctors office where I was told I may have some form of late stage cancer, the scan showed lesions in my lungs, spots on my liver and spleen and all of my chest and abdominal lymph-nodes were inflamed. This came as an incredible shock to me, Aside from a very small occasional twinge in my abdomen when i lifted heavy things i felt fine, I was doing 3 miles at the track every other day!! I didn’t feel sick or weak, just an odd twinge on occasion.. Its difficult for me to fully explain how scared and depressed i was after hearing this, I just began working in the studio I worked so hard to finish for the past 5 years, my business was doing very well, I was in a new wonderful relationship (i actually had a personal life once again) and then i find out i may have a terminal condition… (Luckily between tests my friends did as much to distract me and keep me busy doing things to take my mind off it as they could, otherwise i would have probably gone off the deep end.)
My doctor set up more tests (many, many, many tests) and an appointment with an oncologist at at cancer center in Huntington. After a needle biopsy (not pleasant), another CT scan, an ultrasound of my liver and spleen,(never thought id see my own liver) a full body PET scan, a test for TB, histoplasmosis, HIV and a dozen other things that all came back negative I’m pleased to say my Oncologist and my Lung Specialist (yea i suddenly have a lung specialist now) both seem 90% sure that i DO NOT have cancer but have an uncommon inflammatory disorder called sarcoidosis, on CT scans sarcoidosis looks almost identical to late stage cancer/lymphoma but its not, sarcoidosis can be unpleasant but its not fatal and because I’m in extremely good health ( i still feel perfectly fine) in all likelyhood it will simply go away on its own in a few years BUT because sarcoidosis looks and behaves identical to some types of lymphoma I need to have a surgical biopsy done to rule out lymphoma 100%,….. sooo I’m going to have a couple more tests done this week and I’m scheduled to see a surgeon as well. For nearly 3 months I’ve been on an insane emotional roller coaster, after about $35,000 dollars worth of tests (that ill be paying on for the rest of my life) After all those tests and nearly 3 months of constant Dr visits I STILL don’t know if i actually have cancer or not, I still don’t even know what that silly little intermittent pain in my lower right side is, probably never will. Hopefully this will all be over soon once the biopsy is done and i get the results (which will probably take another 2-3 nail biting, sleepless weeks)
Once again I apologize for being behind, I just wanted everyone to know WHY its taken me sooo many more months than i thought it would to ship out the Steves, And why his ship date keeps getting delayed, My doctors at the cancer center are a 2 hour drive from where i live, its not an uncommon week for me to have hospital appointments on Monday,Wednesday and Thursday so driving back and forth and sitting in waiting rooms has been devouring all of my time.
Not to mention just damn depressing
BUT as you can see I’m VERY close to shipping Steves, trust me, I didn’t cast those 100s of parts just for giddy fun of it ;-)
Once again I’m sorry for the delay but please give me just a bit more time and I’ll be able to get everyone their kits/dolls as well as get back to using my time to make things and not being terrified of whats going on inside of me.
As always any questions can be sent to me here or emailed to bishonenhouse (at) yahoo (dot) com
