being a queer german person and seeing the news fail to verbalise that the CSD attack in berlin was motivated by homophobia feels really crazy. i don't give a fuck where this person is from, the person who did this was homophobic and wanted us dead, and that is what we should be talking about. extremism has become far too normalised in this country and beyond. for one fucking second, talk about how normalised homophobia and is, talk about what a sad day it is for queer folks, about how we deserve to feel safe and that homophobia has no place in this country. can you actually care about us for once stop using us to fuel your islamophobia or hatred of immigrants.

i have been struggling how to say this since it happened. when my mom heard it on the news this morning her first move was to complain about how “that guy will be celebrated in his islamist circle for being a fighter for god now.” and it’s just so terrible to hear your own mother who claims to be fairly leftist (though not nearly as much as she thinks) immediately jump to islamophobia instead of recognizing that this was a homophobic attack and that blaming muslims for everything terrible that happens here just makes it worse for all of us. of course the radio spent all day emphasizing this guy was “islamist”, and did not once pause to talk about the motive, the queer hate, how we should be focusing on the continued fight for our existence and not giving right parties more fuel for their fire. i don’t care about islamists who you claim have been responsible for everything bad since before i was born. i care about the queer woman who died for daring to be out and proud and in a crowd most people assumed would be relatively safe. shame on this country.

every morning I come on here and every morning there is some new interview or behind-the-scenes info or bullshit interpretation from the writers of that goddamn show and I'm gonna be honest, I don't know how many more insanely racist, completely nonsensical, story-and-character breaking statements by rolin jones I can witness, before I'm simply going to explode.

In my opinion there’s no saving TVL. There are a few crumbs of interesting ideas, but overall it destroyed everything of substance. It was an actual nuke.

The only way to “save” the characterizations for QOTD would be for them to say TVL was a fever dream or an in-universe IWTV fanfic. To entirely decanonize it, which AMC will never do.

But even if they did, that wouldn’t erase the impact. TVL was actively harmful: full to the brim of antiblackness, abuse apologia, anti asian ideology, misogyny, etc. Its vitriol towards the fans, actors, and writers who made IWTV great, was overwhelming. Even if they sweeped the writers’ room and got a new new showrunner, there’s no erasing that something as deeply racist as TVL was created and thought okay to release in the first place.

Exactly this! You know I see people saying that this show needs a new showrunner and a new writing team- with black and brown and women writers and I am like yes absolutely; but there's no taking this back. What can be done about the horrifying things that has already been broadcasted on TV? Also there's no saving the story itself that has made Louis be "mutually abusive" and complicit in his own abuse. Can they take back all those things Claudia has said to Louis? Can they take back Claudia apparently liking Lestat more than Louis? Can they take back making Claudia a liar? No matter how good, how strong a writing team is- there's no saving this. It was a show that talked about abuse/ trauma/social relations. It can never go back to it after Rolin trying to lick at the boots of white supremacists. It's now just another show with immensely talented actors it doesn't deserve.

I mean, it IS a bit funny, but there's like 2 possible options here:

n.1 he's a coward and hiding so he doesn't get booed or asked uncomfortable questions during the panel, or

n.2 amc execs have that man roasting over a fire somewhere for ruining their prestige darling.
