When the dissociative identity disorder starts dissociating my identity
Neurodivergent reminder: Overstimulation feels a lot like anxiety, and understimulation feels a lot like depression.
More importantly, you don't need to know which it is to practice self-care.
Self-caring anxiety and overstimulation looks the same:
Recognize you're feeling big feelings
Take as many deep breaths as your need to slow your mind
Identify what’s causing the feeling, whether sensory, environmental, or situational
Minimize that cause as much as possible immediately
Self-caring depression and understimulation looks the same:
Recognize you’re in need of stimulation
Turn on an interesting long-form video of some kind
Do some quick exercise like a walk or jumping jacks
Call a friend that'll let you infodump
If you're neurodivergent and easily get stuck on labelling things — I see you.
I'm here to remind you that you don't need to know what it is to take care of it in the meantime.
You can — will — figure it out later.
You'll get the future you want so badly. It's okay to be on your own timeline. You don't have to feel ashamed for taking a gap year, a leave of absence from school/work, or time off of whatever you do. Things will come together eventually. Take care of yourself first.
When everyone seems to have a damaged, unhappy "inner child," it is time to examine and change the treatment of children on a massive scale.
not sure how many other people have this experience, but i personally find it very hard to call my "abuser," well. my "abuser." both because i get this sense that im not entitled to use that word but also because i feel like im needlessly villainizing an otherwise good person that loves me
my mother, despite everything, is the most important person in my life. i guess thats why everything hurt as much as it did. but i feel dirty even implying that she did anything wrong to me, even saying that i have this disorder makes me feel guilty, and frustrated with myself
because how dare i try to lump myself in with people that have real trauma? the worst shes ever done is just be mean to me, isnt that what all moms do? i really feel like a crybaby sometimes but i cant even allow myself to sit with my emotions because my feelings are so silly
"do you want final fusion?" "are you pursuing functional multiplicity?" girl i am pursuing a NAP & i want to FINISH THIS WEEK
get lost. take that train. read for hours so time passes faster. talk with strangers. say hello to dogs. walk down streets you’ve never been to before. look up to the sky. go to coffee shops. tell that barista that you think her shirt is cute. take pictures with your polaroid camera. buy post cards. ask random people what their mantra is. go into that hipster looking vinyl shop and support the owner by buying a record by his favorite band. laugh with people you’ve just met. exchange numbers. ask for book recommendations. buy that book in the book store right around the corner. take the bus to a park. watch the sunset. remember that you are loved. take the train back home. hang the polaroids up your wall. continue exploring and learning. learn to love life.
Hi!
I really wanna talk with your "scary-looking" and "gross" headmates
I see you, rotting corpses
I see you, guts-out
I see you, person with no face but flesh
I see you, alter with all limbs amputated
I see you, nonhuman horror strait from lovecraft's stories
I see you, even if your eyes can't see me
I see you, human flashlights
I see you, ripped sex-dolls
I see you, a single moving organ
I see you, deformed figures that are not humans anymore
I see you, whos skin is covered full in rot and pus
I see you, "no skin but burns"
I see you, even if I can't even imagine you.
Even if you are not hc-did, even if body survived just SA and you exist now, even if you feel like system have not enoth trauma for your existence.
You are not as disgusting as you think you are, and I see you, and I love you, and you fucking deserve love
-greetings from Stump
Dear system, let's agree to stop making new email accounts all the time, our ass is not remembering all that
If you need help with discovering who you are or you have a new alter you’re trying to figure out we made a short quiz you can use to categorize some basic things like gender, hair color and personality traits :) We found it helpful and we hope you do too!
FYI this will not ask for your email. You can complete it completely anonymously. To see a summary of responses you can submit then on the next page re-review your responses in full!
Answer questions to learn more about yourself - your gender, personality, etc. This quiz is originally designed for DID/OSDD/systems who ar
As a reminder: libraries, museums, zoos, etc are NOT brand accounts! As an example, the Monterey Bay Aquarium Tumblr is very cool & they support ocean conservation and education! I believe the National Archives and Smithsonian Libraries are also around here somewhere. Support public institutions!
Well this sure hit me like a ton of bricks
Hi disabled friends.
I've kinda been noticing in our community-specifically heds- there seems to be this downturn in health/ quality of life (???) around 19,20,21,22.
If this has been your experience please give me your response in some way. I'm gonna assume if you interact with this post you've either experienced this personally or a loved one experienced this.
Thank you for your time.
Have I told y’all about my husband’s Fork Theory? If I did already, pretend I didn’t, I’m an old.
So the Spoon Theory is a fundamental metaphor used often in the chronic pain/chronic illness communities to explain to non-spoonies why life is harder for them. It’s super useful and we use that all the time. But it has a corollary. You know the phrase, “Stick a fork in me, I’m done,” right? Well, Fork Theory is that one has a Fork Limit, that is, you can probably cope okay with one fork stuck in you, maybe two or three, but at some point you will lose your shit if one more fork happens. A fork could range from being hungry or having to pee to getting a new bill or a new diagnosis of illness. There are lots of different sizes of forks, and volume vs. quantity means that the fork limit is not absolute. I might be able to deal with 20 tiny little escargot fork annoyances, such as a hangnail or slightly suboptimal pants, but not even one “you poked my trigger on purpose because you think it’s fun to see me melt down” pitchfork.
This is super relevant for neurodivergent folk. Like, you might be able to deal with your feet being cold or a tag, but not both. Hubby describes the situation as “It may seem weird that I just get up and leave the conversation to go to the bathroom, but you just dumped a new financial burden on me and I already had to pee, and going to the bathroom is the fork I can get rid of the fastest.”
I like this and also I like the low key point that you may be able to cope with bigger forks by finding little ones you can remove quickly. A combination of time, focus, and reduction to small stressors that can allow you to focus on the larger stressor in a constructive way.
Ohhh thisssssss
You will feel safe again
