I find it a bit weird that people downplay Historia and Levi’s bond. Like I know he coerced her to become the queen, but I’m just thinking… Wasn’t that the point? Especially (and ironically) when the first Ackerman-Reiss friendship started after many years of conflict with ‘violence’.

Not only that, but considering they mirrored each other’s backstories, sharing an arc and creating a home for orphans together (they both adore children) while others were reluctant about it. And the only time Levi ever smiled in the series was at Historia. It’s safe to say they have some potential there and I wish their dynamic was explored more.

I can see where this person is coming from, so at the time giving Erwin the serum was the most logical decision, yes. But plot wise, no.

Tbh the topic of who should have got the serum is purely the matter of opinion since we can think all we want about the directions this could have taken.

Like I said, plot wise it was pretty obvious that Armin was the one who was going to live and Erwin was the one who would die.

Looking at the motivations and dreams doesn’t matter logically speaking, but it fits with the themes of the story. Like Hange explained, Erwin was the right choice in her mind, and Levi says himself Armin is nothing like Erwin, because it’s true.

But nonetheless, he chose him because he decided that right then and there to let Erwin die on that roof as he had already sacrificed his life for humanity.

+ The way I interpreted it was more about Levi being moved by the dreams that both of them had, Erwin lost that spark, as he had done his duty. So, Levi decided to choose the next generation; “The boy who had the same look in his eyes as all of you.”
