two of a kind | chapter fourteen
summary: two people carved by their vices, Angel realizes he still has soft edges and he likes the way they fit with Husk's tags: friends to lovers, bedsharing, they're in love your honor note: I missed linking a couple of chapters here oops
“Trust me?”
And he does, Angel realizes.
More than he’s trusted most people.
On impulse, Angel ghosts his hand over one heart on Husk’s palm in acceptance (he doesn’t miss the reflexive curl of Husk’s fingers) and some of the tension from his shoulders falls away when Husk offers him a small smile.
“Now—” Husk rounds the bar and rests a bar rag over his shoulder. “Where were we? You want something in particular?”
Angel turns around on the stool and manages a wobbly smile. “Dealer’s choice?”
That small smile is still there as Husk tips his chin up. “I think I might have an idea.”
“Sounds good.”
Husk rustles under the bar, placing a bowl down on the bar top and brings out a fresh bag of pretzels. He opens the bag and pours some into the bowl before closing it and putting it back under the counter. He pushes the bowl closer to Angel. “I have no idea where the other guy was getting the pretzels, so these might taste different.”
His fucking heart— Angel winks at Husk. “I’ve never met a pretzel I didn’t like.”
“Careful with those kinda words, it is Hell.” Husk takes a pretzel and pops it into his mouth.
Angel laughs and grabs a handful, watching Husk as he starts to mix Angel’s drink.
