lukewarm vampires
no listen to me vampires are only "cold" compared to living humans who have a pulse built-in heating unit. but it's not like they have built in refrigeration. the undead aren't actually "cold" per se at best they're room temperature. lukewarm vampires
THIS IS WHAT I'VE BEEN SAYING
Put your vampire in a nice hot bath before you take it to bed

The insatiable urge to be annoying is in my blood, forgive me.
Have you tried changing your blood? Like an oil change, easy
I have the straw installed but nobody wants to trade with me :(
Nooooo, straws are for brains!!!
You're right!! Bring in the transfusion spigot!!
Exactly. Glad I could help with my amazing knowledge of general vampiric anatomy. Don't forget the funnel to fill in the new stuff.
The insatiable urge to be annoying is in my blood, forgive me.

Frankly, generative AI is being given too much credit for the devaluation of art and labour. Dipshits who think the Idea Guy is the only one doing any real work and everyone else is a mere technician who should be grateful they're permitted to be involved at all have been a thing for as long as art has been a thing.
(This is why you'll never get anywhere accusing folks boo-hooing about "prompt theft" of hypocrisy, incidentally. No hypocrisy is present if you genuinely believe that Idea Guys are the only people whose labour has value, and a great many of these folks do in fact believe that.)
"Isn't that kind of a strawman? Surely no one actually, literally believes that Idea Guys are the only people who perform real labour"
The insatiable urge to be annoying is in my blood, forgive me.

So super quick, I'm gonna need you to put the vykos brainworms, in the bag. Gimmie the deets. Unfiltered opinions. I am curious.
Jeez, there's just... so much. Listen, I WILL get back to you, but I need to think about this for a bit? Like, sure, I could give you a short, funny answer, but if you really want my unfiltered opinions (which is a dangerous thing to ask because I'm usually very conflict-avoidant and my opinions do not reflect current popular takes I fear), then you deserve that I put some thought into it, yes?
Do you think there's a dedicated community of young Tzimisce in the modern era who use the word "Vykosmaxing"?
Haha, if I had any headcanon for AFTER Gehenna in 2004, it'd be definitely that
Thanks to the person on Facebook who cobbled this together out of pure spite and allowed me to share, I commend their decision to make Vykos memes

seeing straight men be disgusted by booktok smut recommenders has actually radicalized me to the side of booktok smut recommenders. girls your taste may be atrocious but i will never disparage you for exposing mainstream discourse to the concept of soaking through your underwear. spent my whole life listening to men talk about penises it’s about time they get jumpscared by women talking about pussy in crude detail on social media. go forth and goon my warriors
I work at a bookstore and hearing one of my male coworkers call smutty romantasy "the downfall of society" because it's "literally just porn" radicalized me
Men have an entire industry. Entire industries dedicated to their sexualities. Let women have fantasy sex. there's not even a camera crew involved.

As a general rule of fantasy and sci-fi naming, the closer to the back half of the alphabet the average letter in their name is, the eviller they are. A name that doesn't contain any consonants north of R is poison frog colouration. If it uses Y as a vowel in a non-terminal position you're basically fucked.
That single "e" is doing a lot for you, Mr. Prokopetz.
Well, yes; a lot of Western fantasy and sci-fi media's propensity to villain-code the back half of the alphabet boils down to Western authors being Weird™ about Slavic cultures, and I'll give you three guesses where my surname comes from.

A tale as old as time
Many characters in Bloodlines will give you some grace and advice because you’re a baby, even if you are being a disrespectful asshole and while it is a decision partially made for gameplay and story convenience, it IS also important narratively.
You are a fledgling left without guidance and many older vampires like Nines and Therese will give you a break even if you test their patience, because you are an idiot baby and they have very likely been there themselves and likely lived because someone else offered them grace and didn’t make an example out of them. The decision to NOT exercise their power and influence, speaks of their own humanity.
Similarly, Mercurio becoming a trusted ally if you show him a shred of grace and humanity and Beckett going out of his way to find you before leaving to warn you about the sarcophagus (and even admitting he might be wrong), and Isaac choosing to warn you to not trust Lacroix regardless of your affiliation, are important showcases of the humanity you can find in WoD. Mercurio appreciates the smallest acts of kindness because he knows they are precious and rare. Beckett knows you’re still somewhat innocent and naive and thinks you deserve a chance to survive this mess. He has no reason to care about you other than that he just does, because there is still that goodness to him. And Isaac doesn’t want to see you perish as another pawn of Lacroix’s, because he appreciates the work you did in his barony and sees that you are capable of being more than what the prince has in mind for you.
You meet Samantha and you know there was love and humanity in your old life, no matter who you were. Someone cares and misses you, and that little scene is so well acted and melancholic, and human.
Heck, the freaking sleazy smut paddler warns you about the snuff tape and tells you it’s a truly messed up deal and not worth dying for. He doesn’t know you. He has no reason to care. But despite how he may come off and being less than a stellar person, he is still decent enough to warn you.
And you often have the option to be kind, yourself. You can help others for no reason. You can be kind to the homeless and to the sex workers, who are easy targets for predators, because many others won’t care about what becomes of them.
Your very first interaction after the opening scene, is to be greeted by a likely inebriated homeless man and if you show him that drop of kindness, he is grateful and polite, and man does it feel like a nice encounter after what you went through.
Finding those bits of humanity and kindness in WoD is so vital to writing good stories in that setting, imo. And power of friendship is OP as fuck in that setting because of how precious and rare it is to find.
