"You need a break, y'know? " Daichi states, leaning onto your desk – littered in paperwork from a case you had just closed not too long ago, "Seriously. It's like you live in the precinct. "
You scoff at his remark, your fingers clacking against the keyboard on your desk while your eyes were glued to the screen. Overflowing folders were sitting at the edge of your desk, the overwhelming amount making Daichi take it upon himself to place them in the precinct's file room.
"It doesn't help that you've been told to stay home by the captain. Go home. " After shortly after scolding you, you hear him mutter something... You shake your head, releasing you from the irrelevant thought that entered your mind.
The sound of Daichi's keys jingling against his gear echoes in the empty room, the elevator ring faintly following after.
"Bye, Sergeant. I'll see you tomorrow. " You wave carelessly, your tone of voice deadpan and focused.

"Koushi? " Daichi held his phone against his ear, his index finger tapping at the back while it rung. A sigh leaves his lips once he's sent to voicemail, what could Koushi possibly be doing to be busy on a Friday night?
Half an hour ticks by, and Daichi's phone rings, vibrating on his desk.
"Hello? Sawamura? " Sugawara's voice is clear from the speakers of Daichi's phone, he greets the teacher back, asking how his day was, " Ah... Well, I spent most of my time planning out lessons... Hah. " A dry chuckle comes from the other end of the phone, an exhausted sigh coming from Sugawara.
"What's up with everyone being so stuck on work today. " Daichi remarked, "Seriously. My own workpartner has been glued to their paperwork, and now you, too!"
"Don't stress, Sawamura. You worry too much about everybody, sometimes. "
"Can't help it. They've been stuck on this case specifically, despite being told countless of times to go home.. " Daichi pinched his nosebridge, his voice coming to a hush.
"You're the same way, y'know. This is the first you haven't been on overtime in months. " Sugawara chuckles, "If you're so worried, do something about it. "
" Anyway, I've gotta go. See you, Sawa! "
The sound of the phone call ending bounced off of Sawamura's walls. Guess he had to figure this out himself.

The next day had passed by, and you had come in late. The bags underneath your eyes were practically weighing them down, the dark circles almost uncanny. Your deadpan expression didn't help, yet somehow – your uniform was in perfect condition.
A binder filled with files was pressed against your chest, your arms folded together to keep it in place. You walked languidly, the only thing you could focus on was your desk – which had every imperfection taken off of it. Next to it, you see a struggling Daichi with a bag of trash thrown over his shoulder.
Your eyes squint as you stop in your tracks, he'd always been so helpful, but he didn't have to take on your end of the work.
"Fuckin' hell, my legs are gonna fall off.. " You thought, your body practically feeling numb from the lack of energy you've had for the past week.
Daichi had just come back from throwing the embarrassing amount of useless trinkets and debris from your desk, his hands dripping with water while he rushed over to help you. A poor, stumbling detective who could barely think.
"I'm okay, Daichi. " You usher him away, a feeble smile plastered on your face.
"I'll take your word for it, L/N, " Daichi takes a deep breath, before he even thought about scolding you for the sixty-seventh time "But will you atleast have something that'll help you? Like some food? " He continued.
Your eyes rolled at the mention, but after a second of thinking, it'd be nice to have a cup of coffee. Maybe a sandwich.
"Alright, fine. I'll go. " You mumble, brows furrowed together as a false act of frustration.
"I'll go with you! " Daichi beamed, patting his legs to look for his wallet, pulling out his debit-card once he had his wallet in his hands, "It'll be on me. I told you to do it, after all. "
Your face softens at the mention. What a sweetheart he was– so generous towards everyone. No wonder why he chose to be a cop, he just wants to help everyone.
Luckily for the both of you, the building was right across from a smaller branch of Miya's Onigiri – which earnt a lengthy parable from Daichi, who waffled on about how he had gone against the man who owned the entire business during a highschool volleyball match, and how being persevere gets you into places you'd never even dare to think about.
You laugh at his poorly delivered jokes, walking back to your precinct with a mouthful of onigiri and a warm cup of coffee. From time to time throughout the day, a few worried looks flashed on his face everytime you showed some sort of tiredness.

You didn't come the day after, as a direct order. It was given after the unfortunate event of you passing out on the floor in the middle of the day yesterday.
Of course, you were infuriated – but also, bedridden. Yesterday was the cherry on top since you had pushed yourself to your breaking point; your coworkers were kind enough to give you updates on your case, the others telling you how your work had pointed them to another lead that could finally shut the case. You sigh in relief, sipping on a cup of tea while you scrolled on your phone.
Then, a text popped up– from Daichi. It was short, sweet, but short; he told you that he had ordered a small meal for you, since he had to be the one to bring you home. He knew at your state, there'd be no way you could cook on your own.
Daichi : "Sorry if this is weird. I was just worried. 😢"
You let out a breathy chuckle, followed by an extremely chesty cough. It was worse than you expected it to be. You spent the halfhour sprawled across your bed, with a blanket draped over you.

The sound of your doorbell obnoxiously echoes inside of your apartment, a dreadful groan escaping you as you got up. You were delightfully met with an oddly beat-up Sawamura Daichi, holding a paperbag filled with a container of soup & medicine.
"... Come inside? " You raise an eyebrow, bewilderment stirring in your thoughts — but, that curiosity and confusion had to wait. You couldn't possibly leave Daichi out in the colding, holding your food... That he bought. With his money.
"Thanks. Sorry for such a late notice, L/N. " Daichi apologetically lowers his head, his muscular and tall frame struggling to get through your door with his uniform and the bag getting in the way. You lethargically take it from him, carrying it to your table.
"This is wildly inappropriate, you know. " You say, dragging a spare chair to your dinnertable while Daichi stood there waiting. Your voice was stern, and rather disappointed – the slight frown and furrowed brows that was plastered on your face reinforcing the message your voice had sent out.
"It's my job to help people, and you so clearly need that help. " Daichi muttered, eyes looking off to the side. You laugh, patting him on the back – saying you were just joking.
"It's alright. I know you're off the clock anyway, stay for dinner? "

"Seriously? The volleyball team's setter?" Your friend, Haru, raised an eyebrow, a snicker leaving her lips, "You've gotta be kidding! Isn't he, like, a massive loser?" She questioned, disbelief practically littered in every word she threw. She sat up on your bed, her legs crossed, arms hugging a pillow while she waited for an answer.
"No! He's so cute and – Oh my god, it's so hot when he's playing... " You sigh, laying on your stomach, elbows digging into the mattress while your hands held your head up. You kick your feet in the air at the mere thought of the setter, "How on Earth am I supposed to get his attention? It's like he sees right through me! " You basically squeal in frustration.
Being popular is great and all, but everyone is just so obsessed with your every move and since you were basically THE girl, it was so easy for people to get wrapped up in your business. Even your dating experience!
It doesn't help that the boy who's got your heart in his hands is the one and only Kenma Kozume. He was quiet, and when he wasn't he was softspoken, he didn't bother with people — instead, he was constantly wrapped up in video games. Even sneaking off during lunch just to play them. People just don't bother him as much because of his performance in the volleyball team.
To you, Kenma was the cutest boy on the planet. In class, you find your eyes gazing onto his lean silhoutte, his pudding coloured hair, and his cat-like features. However, no matter how close you were to him and how many times you tried to indirectly grab his attention, it was like he barely even acknowledged your existence.
Despite it, you were completely determined.
Although, maybe this was all a fantasy that could never happen. He wasn't interested in you – but maybe. Just maybe, you could win his heart.

At school, you couldn't keep your eyes off of him. Wherever he was, you would slyly follow – unfortunately, there were many who tried to do the same with you. When a guy tried asking you out, you looked straight past him, giving him half-assed answers while you admired Kenma.
It was getting harder to hide, really. Your group managed to pick up on it, and surprisingly, they didn't care as much as you thought they would. If anything, they were glad you finally started liking someone. They still think he's a little weird, though.
What was a bit annoying was how they'd relentlessly tease you for your apprehension whenever they mentioned you making a move. You weren't used to being ignored, especially when boys basically hand you things on a silver spoon for just existing.
"Y/N, just talk to him! I promise you, there's gonna be no way in hell you'll be ignored." All of your friends agreed with Haru, her statements being echoed. Their affirmations did end up encouraging you, which earnt a collective sigh of relief. Hearing you ramble about Kenma was almost as tiring as cheer practice.
"Can we go to his game next week, pleeaase? " You pleaded at the lunch table, clasping your hands together, "We can use the excuse of... Uh. Cheering for them! Yeah! "
"We have to be there to do that anyway, remember? "
"Oh. Yeah."

Before his game, you kept trying to get his attention. You managed to gather up the courage to talk to him in class... However, your attempts were in vain, considering how condescenion practically dripped from every word that came from you. Which would result in. Well.
"And then I said that he was surprisingly fit for someone like him! " You cried in embarrassment , "Like, WHO SAYS THAT?! I'M SO STUPID. "
Attempt two went a lot better than the first. You chose your words carefully, and gave him a bunch of sweets. Which made him utter more than 5 words your way. God, he sounded so angelic, his voice was basically like an orchestral melody to you.
"You know, I thought you'd be meaner. " He stated, eyes glued to his switch, "Thanks for the sweets, L/N. "
You say goodbye quickly since your heart was practically about to rip through your chest at the rate it was beating.
Later on, you overhear a small snippet of a conversation he was having with Kuroo.
"How are you so normal with L/N?! Deadass if I were you I'd die on the spot just by having her look at me! " Kuroo was rambling with disbelief, as if Kenma had committed a sin, "She definitely has a thing for you. "
" There's no way she's just doing it cause she likes me." Kenma responds, his tone hushed – almost ashamed, "I wish she did, though. "
"Me too. You don't have any game at all. It physically hurt when I saw you fumble the girl you've liked since freshman year. "
... Oh.
You froze in place, he liked you for years and you never noticed. You've been admiring him this entire year and you never noticed. The moment you snap back to reality, you run back to your friends and share the news.
"HE LIKES ME. HE'S LIKED ME SINCE FRESHMAN YEAR. " You declare, jumping with glee, while your friends basically screamed with excitement with you.
"We told you he'd liked you and you didn't listen!"
"I'm so telling him after his game. Should I get him something? Like... A new PS5? I'm getting it for him. "

The day finally came. It was a game between Nekoma and some other team that you couldn't remember the name of. You were at the front of the bleachers with your squad, dressed in the cheer uniform that your school had newly altered. The logo of Nekoma High plastered in the center of the red shell.
It was evident that you had been glued onto Kenma, and maybe you were reading into it, but it seemed like he was playing better than usual. He was on court for way more time, his sets were unusually accurate as usual and the way his carried himself just seemed so different from the previous game. At one point, you had your squad cheer his name out when he smugly dumped the ball on the other team.
In the end, they won 4 sets to 1. Which was nothing out of the ordinary for Nekoma.
"You guys can head along. " You tell your squad, "I need to go to Kenma. " You say, grabbing the giftbag you had brought with you, along with another bag with even more trinkets in it.
"Goodluck, Y/N! We know you've got this! " Your team cheered you on, giving you a few celebratory and encouraging words before you go to ease out your nervousness.

You waited outside the stadium, the cool air biting against your skin. The sky was painted with a beautiful blue fading into a pink while the sun slowly set in the distance. The clouds were airbrushed in, while the sound of birds singing were carried by the breeze. You place the bags down carefully while you waited by the exit.
A few minutes had passed and you hear the chatter and steps of the team slowly approaching. When they all come out, your eyes flitter between all the members before you spot Kenma, who had Kuroo's arm slung around his shoulders, ruffling his hair with his other hand. Kenma had an adorable frustrated expression plastered on his face, telling Kuroo to quit it.
"Kenma! " You call out his name, waving your arm, "I need to talk to you! "
All the boys basically stop in their tracks when they see you, and a few teasing voices and words emit from each one of them, especially Kuroo and Lev. Kenma looked around for a moment, pointing at himself with a confused look. You nod in response, and all of his teammates basically usher him over to you since he seemed too apprehensive to go by himself.
When you two are left with eachother's company, you can feel the eyes of the others locked onto the two of you, which gave another sense of awkwardness layered onto the mutual nervousness you and Kenma felt.
"So... Uhm.." The colour of red spreads across your face, while you bring up both bags, handing it to him before you continue the rest of your jittery and unplanned speech. Kenma took them with astonishment, his mouth opening and closing as if he was about to say something but he couldn't seem to get the words out.
"I just wanted to say congratulations! " You start, fidgeting with your necklace, "andthatIreallyreallylikeyou. Okay bye!" You abruptly kiss him on cheek before running away immediately. Kenma stands there, frozen, while all the guys yelled at him to chase after you.
Which he did.
Before you got too far, he called out your name which made your frantic attempt to run away come to a halt. You turn your head, just to see him a few steps away, hands on his knees, huffing and puffing, trying to catch his breath. You giggle, deciding not to make life harder for him, you walk toward him.
You give him a second to collect himself, and when he stands up straight, he grabs your hands, looking into your eyes.
"I like you too, Y/N. So so much, ever since our first year. I never thought you'd like me, so I never tried to talk to you – I'm sorry. "
"What are you sorry for, Kozume? Just knowing you like me back is like, more than enough. " You pull your hand back from him, moving it to caress the side of his face, "I'm sorry I never noticed. "
You grab onto the collar of his volleyball uniform, pulling him into a kiss. He's caught completely offguard, but before you knew it, he melted into the kiss, his arms wrapping around your waist, pulling you closer.

"Yo, what the fuck?! She got him an entire PS5 and– " Kuroo exclaimed, rummaging through the bags.
"Leave his stuff alone, nosy bitch. " Yaku cut him off, practically dragging him away from the bags.

Ok guys I while i dislike gabrielle, i absolutely love how her gender in the show is so... how do i say this.. transgenderismcore (dear god someone take my fingers away because why did i type that)
The way she is represented is great. It's amazing. I think that Anne definitely projected onto her a little with the entire gender thing, despite the fact she despises Gabrielle.
This might be an unpopular opinion- but I don't like Gabrielle de Lioncourt that much. While she may be a complex, nuanced and messy character with flaws that you can sympathise with, she just isn't for me.
As a written-character, she is AMAZING, while I do relate to her SOMETIMES, I do think her treatment of Lestat and the (possible) neglectful treatment of her other children is a bit weird! Clearly Lestat was her favourite, their incestous relationship almost made me put TVL down (which honestly im not afraid to admit.)
I might've worded things wrong- however, i'd appreciate some insight on gabrielle in general because i really do want to understand her more :)
Claudia looking different because of her actor being changed can be applied to the fact Louis was an unreliable narrator and the fact that he also could've imagined Claudia looking like what he and Lestat's child would look like- this has been said multiple times already lol but i wanna talk about it still
I like to think that in the first season, where claudia was played by Bailey Bass- Louis described her to be much more similar to Lestat, because at that time, he was still with Lestat. In season two, when that blonde twink was out of sight (but not out of mind) Claudia starts to look more like Louis (mannerisms and all) because of how Lestat wasn't there with them.
