250 years and most native tribal groups continue to not be federally recognized. Embarrassing!
Hey so a small thing that literally everyone who sees this is capable of is correcting any “used to” statements about native people in this country.
“Native people used to live in this National Park” No. They still do.
“Native people used to tell these stories-” No. They still do.
“Native people used to use this plant as a natural remedy-” No. They still do.
Better yet, familiarize yourself with the tribes local to you. Odds are, they do not yet have federal recognition. You can still read the stories they have to share, you can share their ongoing battle for recognition with others, you can sign petitions and spread the word to others to do so as well. But do something.
white people being offended by a black man laughing at a white man who spent the game mocking him 😂😂😂😂😂 we can’t do anything LMFAOOOO
bestie (derogative), I don't know where you're from (if I had to guess I'd say the US just because of how horribly you're botching the concept of racism to the oversimplification of black vs white) but paraguayans aren't white people, they're latinos, same as colombians, ecuadorians, chileans, uruguayans, argentinians, etc. Your ignorance of south america is showing. Just for your knowledge, guaraní (the tongue of the natives that lived in those areas before colonization) is one of their two national languages alongside Spanish and is routinely used by Paraguayans themselves, and Paraguayans have historically faced discrimination even within their own region (South America) because they've been forced to migrate from their country in search of better economic opportunities. There's actually a fairly large Paraguayan diaspora here in Argentina, which is part of why I love my hermanos paraguayos so much 🇵🇾🤝🇦🇷 If any paraguayan wants to rb this adding more points/context I probably missed, feel free to do so, but I hardly think a country that has faced so much discrimination and that has honored its native roots like Paraguay has would classify itself as "white".
But back to my original point, if you were to show a paraguayan to a person of Anglo-Saxon descent, they'd never see them as white. We South Americans are continuously discriminated against in Europe and North America, but because you, random tumblr user, made an ignorant conclusion based off of someone's skin tone while completely disregarding their nationality and the cultural nuance behind his identity, suddenly it all goes away?
Also, I think race should be understood viewed through the broader lense of discrimination and privilege as a whole. Yes, Mbappe has a darker skin tone than Orlando Gill. Do you know what he also had that Gill didn't? The comfort of a European lifestyle. Gill (and most of the Paraguayan national team) had to face countless economic hardships to get to where they were; Gill himself had to sell his own clothes just a couple of years ago to be able to feed his newborn baby. Around that same time, Mbappe was making millions of dollars with PSG and his face was plastered everywhere. Which of these two men sounds more privileged to you?
I'm not offended because Mbappe is black and Orlando Gill is "white", which he's really not, if you ask me. I'd be equally offended if it was Harry Kane refusing to shake his hand, or Lee Kang-in, or whoever, I really don't care. I'm offended by Mbappe's lack of sportsmanship and how he clearly thinks he's too good for South American football, which he's disrespected multiple times by now.
ps. orlando gill never mocked mbappe once during the whole game, he's one of, if not the most, respectful players of the paraguayan nt. but you wouldn't know that, because according to you south american = brutish dunce, right?

this and also that thing he said that he didn't want latino players in his team bc that would "taint" the French spirit or whatever
I'll never forgive him
the 2026 update is that he learned jack shit :)
