decided to watch steven universe to bring back the they/ them energy and here's my notes:
- from the first episode you can clearly see how nobody takes Steven seriously and he is yet to develop some sort of pd because of this ;
- pearl is an abuser, i think the su fandom doesn't like to hear it because she was also used but... Steven is a child...? how exactly was he supposed to react to all this? in the early episodes especially when pearl doesn't care about him and lets him get hurt (she does cope and loves him later on, but she's over 6000 years old, hasn't she learned how to act?) ;
- of course amethyst gets to be the most mature of them all, because she actually thinks like a human (what i mean is, changing after your trauma and coping in a way), and also she DID miss the whole gem war.... she and steven have a close relationship, because they're never taken seriously, and even she says that there's nobody here to take care of her anymore (and how she says Steven has to talk about how he feels and to stop putting others in front of him) ;
- wait this made me realize that pearl did the same shit to Connie, she was still moping over rose and forced Connie to sacrifice herself for Steven, who, mind you, IS A DIAMOND????? and pearl knew this and since she still hasn't gotten over her place in the homeworld, thinks that Connie and Steven have the same relationship ;
- ok enough pearl dragging, she's actually an deurotagonist / anti-hero so it makes sence (read somewhere that she is supposed to be a bad person) ;
- not even gonna talk about rose and pink diamond, you all know that she just did that because she was abused (it's the pearl point all over again) ;
- white diamond > blue / yellow > pink > pearl (both) and spinel > steven (cycle of abuse, or line?) ;
- i love garnet so much i cry everytime she talks about her past ;
- i loved lapis ever since we saw her and she's still my favorite character (and i relate to her the most, after steven) ;
- jasper hot asf omg man ;
- I ALSO LOVE STEVONNIE, god i just needed someone like her to make me more happier about myself ;
- the way spinel was just a villain for the movie and just made steven even worse is crazy ;
- i relate to Sadie too, man being in your 20s and still working a part-time job is so draining, i hope to do the same as her ;
- also Steven was 12 when this all happened, and i now notice how accurate his reactions are, like yes he would be sad that nobody tells him anything, or that he doesn't take anything seriously, you still treat him like a kid.....
- im glad that they didn't show any clear signs of connverse being together, it just feels like they've always been that way, i mean stevonnie is there ;
- it's just such a good show
