im thinmking about uuuuhhhhh cancel culture (which is super fun discussion everyone loves it nothing but good feelings) and i think one of the big important things about pursuing legal justice over social justice is that like. legal testimony is extremely clinical and mundane and that makes it so much easier than making sense of a major controverys through some fuck-ass journolism website or social media threads where there's too much emotion in eberything. a lawyer is going to sift through a devastating tragedy and provide an accusation in the most dry way possible. and i willl never ever make excuses for the many many failongs of court systems, but i think that's a better source of proper understanding and overall much better for our mental health and wellbeing then the chaos of a timeline full of people freaking out.

You listen to music regularly? Why? Have you even tried quitting? Could you quit? You get music stuck in your head? Wow. You're so ruined and music brained. I bet you make your partners listen to music with you when you have sex. Music addiction has really ruined a whole generation. You know it's not realistic to expect reverb in real life, right? You're probably so desensitized that you don't even feel anything anymore when you hear a bird singing that it wants some fuck.

Personally, I abstain from all music in order to keep my hands clean but really music should just be illegal outright to protect musicians from abuse.

A couple of walk cycles I made as warm-ups to get back into animating things, using a dev model of a GUN Hunter. I put together a tool using shaders to measure walking pace, which has helped prevent any sliding or skiing. That alone is a major improvement in comparison to previous animations I've done. Cross-legged strafing animations are tricky, particularly on characters with bulky legs. Large robots are not exactly elegant.

PSA: For fan works, reblog and like from OP

Tumblr is rolling out a new reblog/notes system that completely disregards creators. In their new system, they're taking a twitter-style approach where reblogs will have their own notes that DO NOT contribute to the original post's notes.

Because of this, creators will no longer be able to see an accurate display of likes/reblogs/etc. This is completely altering the way feedback and responses to works are going to be received on this website.

If you come across a fan work that you enjoy, please take the extra step to go to OPs original post, and leave your comment/like/reblog there. Or go one step further and send an ask to OP directly to tell them what you liked!

I really hope Tumblr staff reverses course and reverts to the original reblog system for the sake of the large base of creators who use this site to share their works, but until then, please be considerate and make sure the creators here see/feel the love.

..fuck am I even supposed to do if this rolls out and sticks? Doesn't this basically completely kill my ability to gauge how much attention a post is pulling? Or basically cut off any kind of algorithmic growth at the leg?

I'm not exactly someone with a particularly large amount of clout, and I've never been able to get a good idea of how aware anyone is of what I post within any given niche. Maybe I'd never realistically acquire a following despite this change, but this definitely seems to make that problem a lot worse. Assuming this does get implemented and stays around, I can't see any kind of site-wide effort to more directly engage with the original post helping much. Trying to build a following on social media sites has always had a conflict with people generally not wanting to do anything inconvenient even if that includes supporting people who make shit they like.
