A Jefffffffest gift that is my own version of a Leverage AU. I took inspiration from both Leverage and Leverage: Redemption. It’s a series of portraits and short vignette stories that tell you about the team. I am not a big writer so it was fun to flex my muscles. Also drawing Jeff six times is never an hardship for me.
Some businesses that your BL Organized Crime Family™️ should own and what you should be doing with those businesses:

As a super rich Organized Crime Family™️ in a BL, you are clearly doing SO MANY illegal things that earn you 💲✨money✨💲 such as smuggling, robberies, drug manufacturing, trafficking, loan-sharking, AND MORE! But you can't just put the cash you earn from your illegal activities in a regular bank account. Nope! That's sus as hell! You need some legitimate businesses through which to transfer your ill gotten gains.
Please note all of these businesses, like my local noraebang/karaoke place that hasn't updated their posters in 20 years, must operate on a CASH ONLY basis.
HERE ARE SOME EXAMPLES OF BUSINESSES YOU, A BL ORGANIZED CRIME BOSS, SHOULD OWN!
Laundromats - Money laundering. Literal money laundering! It's already normal for them to be cash only. Don't switch to the card system. That's too legit. Coin only. Even better, get one of those machines that turn bills into coin.
Shitty Restaurants - Money laundering and tax evasion. It's normal for restaurants to operate at a loss. Just make sure your business is as unattractive as possible. It has to be shitty otherwise the tax evasion thing won't work out. Also, if it's too good, you'll have too much attention. You do not want attention.
Karaoke - Money laundering. Not a single customer this week? Just kidding! You had thousands of people! Your shitty karaoke place is SO POPULAR. That's how you afford to keep up the rent on your wildly large and expensive downtown space. Duh!
Public Markets - Money laundering and tax evasions. Especially if you charge vendors a percentage of their sales, you can just make that up. Everyone operating at a loss? Too bad! Hope business picks up soon. Just kidding! It never will! And this doubles as a loan shark operation if your vendors don't pay up.
Shipping and logistics - Transportation. Wanna move your 'product' around without anyone being sus? Just own the entire supply chain!
Storage - Money laundering, tax evasion and product storage. How many people are renting from you at any given time? If I need to evade taxes, none! You're operating at a loss. If I need to launder money, SO MANY! Your storage lockers are all booked and busy! What are they storing? That's private and privileged information.
Garbage and Waste Disposal - Getting rid of evidence...and bodies...
Bonus ALL of these businesses also double as LAND AND RETAIL SPACE INVESTMENTS. You are making money while your money's making money.

P.S.A. All jokes aside, organized crime is real and it sucks and ruins lives and entire cities. Reminder that the cancer rate in Naples was higher than any other city in Italy because of the mafia's mismanagement of waste-disposal. Organized crime as an aesthetic can be fun, but remember real life is not fiction and sometimes the romanticization of fiction can have real life consequences.
So did that Korean Broadcaster or company or whatever actually manage to cut Wooju Bakery into a good series or...not? Cause curiosity is getting the best of me a little. Especially since the actors do get paid for it after a bit of a legal dispute.
Depends on your tolerance for silliness/camp. It is not trying in the slightest to be serious, and some people hate it. I had fun, but it definitely has some flaws.

I was thinking about doing this thing I read a while ago that suggested posting a daily line you liked from the day's writing. (Well, on days when I manage to write.) Everything I wrote today strikes me as prosaic, though.

It would have been helpful if KinnPorsche had given us more of a hint about the time of year.
It does not appear to be the rainy season. According to the notes I have for the Kyoto fic, the Thai school year starts in June. US colleges close their admissions period about six months before the school year starts, so assuming that holds elsewhere, Chay's application would have been due in December? Suggesting that the story starts in early November. (Which would jibe with Porsche saying in E1 that Chay had just started a new semester. Still doesn't explain why Chay was going to a private school, given how broke they are.)
So the entire KimChay plot takes place over December. The E14 time skip puts us at the end of January, and not only has Chay's entire life been turned inside out, now he has to study for finals.
What makes a BL?: A look at Thailand's "Esplanade gay movies"

"Esplanade gay movie" is a term some in Thailand have used to describe mostly low-budget, small-studio gay-themed films that received a limited release, often at the Esplanade Cineplex in Bangkok (no relation to Singapore's durian-shaped theatre). I briefly mentioned the influence of indie filmmakers on the formation of Thailand's live-action BL genre during the early 2010s in my Early history of Thai BL post, but felt that a closer look was warranted.
The above posters are of films that had limited theatrical releases, though some are nearer to the mainstream than others. There's considerable variety in their subject matter, which ranges from fluffy young romances (essentially BL as we now know it) to erotic adult dramas, with plenty of experimental stuff in between.
There's Boring Love from 2009, a romantic comedy adapted from a very popular story on the Pantip.com forums. The story also inspired Is This Love?, one of two gay-themed student films from 2011, the other being Just in Case. These two only had special charity screenings, but are early examples in the development of school-romance BLs. Another student short film, Present Perfect (2012) by Anusorn Soisa-ngim, had a remake which was released in 2017 and became quite a festival darling, with a sequel in 2020.
As mentioned in my earlier post, as the category diverged, some of these indie productions were the first to enter BL territory, including Timeline (2013, with a sequel in 2016), Love's Coming (2014, with a 2015 sequel) and My Bromance (2014). On the other end of the spectrum, a trend of erotic dramas being produced for the big screen was also emerging with Me, My Familiar People (2013) by Rachyd Kusolkulsiri (who would go on to make Love Sick), and Teacher and Student (2014) and Father & Son (2015) by Sarawut Intaraprom, who'd previously directed Boring Love. The 2015 sex comedy Love Next Door 2 is a follow-up to a 2013 online-only original.
A supernatural/horror trend seemed to follow, with Summer to Winter (2015) by the creators of Timeline, and The Blue Hour (by Anucha Boonyawatana, who would later direct Not Me) and Red Wine in the Dark Night (Tanwarin Sukkhapisit, The Eclipse) in 2016. The latter two would also be picked up by several international festivals.
More works on the BL side include Water Boyy (2015) also by Rachyd, Sweet Boy (2016) by Sathanapong Limwongthong (Gen Y), I Love You (2017) by Phadej Onlahung (Dear Doctor) and Boyfriend (2016), an adaptation of a popular web comic also originating from Pantip.com in 2005. The last was rather curiously also directed by Sarawut, whose company usually focuses on erotic gay stuff. (Edit: It's because he was the original author of the web comic.)
Works heavier on drama include My Bromance director Nitchapoom Chaianun's The Rain Stories (2016), and Fathers (2016), which was praised for tackling the subject of gay-parent families and also made the festival rounds. And then there's Driver (2017) by Love Next Door director Thitipan Raksasat, which is an erotic drama thriller. I haven't included some better known works like Anucha's Malila: The Farewell Flower or Tanwarin's earlier films that touched on transgender issues.
While I'd have liked to make this an analysis of how these films influenced and/or interacted with the development of the BL genre, that's pretty much beyond me (and I haven't actually seen most of them). But maybe those of you who know the works could share your thoughts. (Or actually, please share even if you haven't seen them.) What do you think defines a work as belonging to the BL genre, and how it could apply to these works (as well as others, like all the stuff by Nitchapoom's Wayufilm, which I've always had trouble categorizing)? Do BL films somehow differ from the recognized characteristics of BL series, given that they are almost entirely the work of queer creators and none are adaptations of BL novels? Do gay viewers form a larger part of their target audience compared to TV?
And did you notice how aggressively shirtless these posters are?
