The smell of the jumper was creamy and old and homey. The color suited her best. She loved how it hung loose around the waist while it hugged her chest. It grown a bit tight, well she had grown into it. :) She smiled. The memories rushing past, at the back of her mind telling her that they had to be let go of. She agreed and simply gave her reflection and subconscious mind a nod of approval to let go of the pinching past.
She went over to her ‘bottoms’ section and pulled out that skinny, black, ripped jeans in which she was once told to be ‘ a desperate wannabe trying hard to fit in’. She knew she was far from this. She knew their words now held no value. She knew she had move on , a long time go.
“This should do” , she pulled out her mam’s nose ring from the drawer and put it on. She could see her mother’s reflection, as she sat on the vanity now.
She decided to try some make up today. No, not to cover her flaws, just that, she felt like instilling a change in everything she did and being confident about it, as in , for real, not just in theory.
The grey sneakers with yellow fluorescent lining once again, reminded her that all of this, all the torture, the cries, the pain was like a fluorescent lining among the grays. Only to wake her up, from a dream,since she had been sleeping high and didn’t seem to realize what all she had missed.......about herself.
She rushed upstairs to take her school bag, took a look at her mam’s photo and whispered - “I know, you should be (proud) :”) “
And thus, she let the tears drop on the glass right on her mom’s chest in the photo. She wiped them away and smiled a huge smile, this time, her twinkling eyes accompanying it.
She rushed towards the door, and as she stood on the mat, she realized it was turned upside down. She overturned it and another smile took over the realm of doubt on her face. On the door mat was written in bright, bold, yellow characters -
