some people really cannot conceive of lifelong atheists. as in, they cannot conceive of atheists who are not ex-christian (because why would atheists be ex-anything else?) and just bitter that the catholic church or whatever didn't treat them nicely. i was an atheist as a child, because i was raised an atheist. i've been an atheist - and very confidently an atheist - for as long as i can remember. i have never, ever thought that any god exists, and i have no experience with being raised in the church whatsoever. the church did not traumatise me. i do not hate religion or anyone religious simply for being religious. i actively enjoy learning about religion (especially historical christianity, long story). nonetheless, i am an atheist, because it's a belief system, not a trauma response to christianity.
