the idea that women are "more allowed" to express emotions than men under patriarchy honestly seems like a lie that serves patriarchy itself.

women are constantly pressured to dissociate from the way our circumstances negatively impact us, and we are straight up not permitted more emotional expression in any meaningful way that is received well in patriarchal relations. in reality, we are marked as "more emotional" and therefore taken less seriously than men.

nobody under patriarchy is allowed a healthy and full expression of their emotions, but framing emotional expression as an advantage that women have is bizarre.

Hi Nony! I touched on some of this in the similar ask re: Big Val, and the top level reason is similar - while THJ was good for the team in regular season, he didn't perform during the post-season.

The pressure with THJ isn't as high as with Big Val, as it doesn't come with the Jokic back-up minutes problems. Both THJ and Cam were brought on last season as replacements for MPJ and the catch-and-shoot archetype, which, with Jokic's passing skills, you really just need a consistent 3 point shooter with a quick release and you'll get a bunch of open 3s.

The problem is that (like the entire rest of the league also deals with) the game is getting tougher and tougher, so it's not just the 3, it's the D (say that three times fast). Hence everyone always talking about 3&D players. THJ is good at the 3 (in regular season anyway), not good at the D. And with the 3, he does go cold - I remember Mavericks fans warning of this specifically when he first got announced as going to the Nuggets, to expect some spectacular regular season games that'd get you excited, but then see him shrink in big moments.

THJ fit into the team fine (I'll miss his "In DE FACE" exclamations to Denver admin after wins), particularly with Val, I assume due to being newbies together, and Val also seemed to get along really well with literally everyone. There was one interesting comment Nikola made late in the season (possibly play-offs, I can't remember) to post-game media about Tim's intense emotion in negative scenarios, which Nikola seemed a bit non-plussed by, but I took it with a grain of salt as English is Nikola's second language and sometimes he says things which could be easily misinterpreted. But! An interesting tidbit.

Tim's catch and release was a beautiful thing to watch, he's a good regular season player. But like I said in my Val post Denver are trying to find the secret sauce for play-offs success as well now, and the focus seems to be on new younger players or retaining new guys who held up in the play-offs like Cam. Spencer Jones probably would have been re-signed due to this reason already if he wasn't doing some Stanford Business School negotiation shenanigans, bless his LinkedIn heart.

Denver are also trying to keep hold of Peyton Watson, which will be costly but they're waiting it out to see if they can save a few million against competing interests. Shedding Val and THJ gives them some breathing room, although I disagree with the common thought that Denver are cheap - they've carried lots of really high contracts for multiple years now trying to keep their championship core, and since the recent changes in FO have tried poking around the edges to see how else they can do to shake out more success.

So, like Big Val - enjoyed having THJ on the team, can understand why they've parted ways. And it's a happy story for THJ as well, he's gone on to Miami, where he has the strong connection of playing with the team he remembers growing up alongside for the long time his dad played there. And he got his dad's permission to wear his retired jersey! That's pretty cool.
