" you mean william isn't the redheaded one ? " she scrunches her features in confusion. " guess that makes sense. would be kinda fucked up if he was harry. " being reminded everyday of the thing you're losing rapidly. plucking the blunt from his hand she pulls a lighter out from the back pocket of her pants. finally she had something to calm the rapid beat of her heart. after a long drag she hands it back. " two people just today actually. this makes you lucky number three. how do ya feel ? "
as she attempts to convey a bout of confusion, he knows better than to fall for it — she had a lot of tricks up that sleeve of hers he could admire, it was humorous despite the act of knowing otherwise. " you might be having a laugh now but the last photo i seen would have me concerned for the next five years ahead if i were him. " if she wanted the photo he would be happy to provide during the time between taking a hit from the joint passed back to him. " like a charm. " he responds almost cooly with a smirk to himself. three times, third person, the joke lined itself up. he used to be first in line constantly tell her she was a pain in the ass with full meaning and fondness attached, it was a relief to know she was still very much the same scottie. " vindicated almost. " he looks to her with an arch of his brow lightly the corners of his mouth lifting to a smile as he exhales the smoke, passing it back to her. your turn. though he figured she could keep it, needing it much more than he did. " i'm sorry about gabby by the way. "
A laugh slipped past her before she could stop it, earning a couple of disapproving glances from nearby mourners that she promptly ignored. "You're right. A citizen like yourself deserves proper recognition for all your hard work and dedication to Grimmvale," she replied, her smirk making it clear she wasn't buying her own words for a second. She tilted her head, crossing her arms. "I mean, don't you? Someone has to make sure the quality's up to your standards before you hand it out. Sounds like responsible business practice to me." At his question, one brow arched. "Trade?" She glanced into her purse as though taking inventory. "I've got two dollars, an expired lip balm, and my sparkling personality. I'm practically overpaying."
" it's a bleeding shame but finally, someone gets it. " sarcasm meets sarcasm as he smirks to his own words. it's lighthearted, his ego wasn't that enormous to truly believe so otherwise.
" it depends if you want honesty but tonight, no. " maybe back when he was fifteen and inexperienced, he admittedly did a lot of needless sampling but he was far past that but in certain cases, he would especially if it was a new consumer, for trust and proof it was clean for those wary. so really, it did depend. " .... i think i'll let you keep your collection of bits 'n bobs. " in truth, it was a sad collection but almost reminiscent to his own pockets once upon a time. that same jacket the joint she requested came from, holding out a joint for her. " your sparkling personality will suffice and maybe a biscuit or two from sweet as, or as you americans call them, cookies — i'm really not that picky. "
"What is it with everyone wanting to numb their feelings?" she asks, slightly agitated. Wren understood very well that for some people this was just some distorted social hour, but for others, like her, she was grieving. Gabby had become family to her when she truly had no one else. They were supposed to grab dinner after the day she went missing, and Wren only felt guilt. "I don't want your stupid drugs, Sylas..."
he shrugs at her question. " lots of reasons. " he says almost rather factually even though he didn't quite feel like naming a few of them. he's had countless people buy from him whatever it was they needed, he had. there were a good bit who were just looking for something to simply feel lighter, for some it was a case of habits they couldn't kick but others were looking for a temporary solution that would repeat after the fix. it wasn't his job to ask, it was easier to not particularly care what the reason was, he was a dealer not a therapist and it was a boundary he preferred to keep separate if not selfishly for his own preference. " all good, zamora. you mind if i have a light then? " he asks almost rhetorically while taking a cig out from the carton resting in his jacket pocket along with the lighter to ignite the end. he would say he was surprised more people weren't lighting up but then again, to a lot of people here it was just for participation but based on wren's reaction, that clearly wasn't the case. " — i assume you were close? "

being here and seeing all of this, it reminded the man of when he lost his own parents. he did not know her that much to be connected to her but it was still tragic. "I'm not confident in them figuring out who did it," Derrick admits with a slight frown. he could only continue drinking from his cup as he turned to the other. "sorry to sound a bit morbid just kind of sad i guess."
" i sure hope you're not in law enforcement working this case... " she trails off, picking a piece of salted pretzel she bought off, eating the small nibble. it could come off as cold sounding to most people, sure but that kind of negative thinking is exactly what the force didn't need to not solve it. as much as she too would like to see whoever did it caught, it only posed a risk of her potentially having to defend the scumbag which has been a rather intrusive and unwanted thought that has her in a more of a mood. " did you know her? " it's a straight forward question dara equates to being the only acceptable reason for such melancholy.
" i think your nose is gonna start growing there, pinocchio. " a laugh bubbles passed her lips before the gum does. if sy was around, one thing was for sure. his dedication to his craft was admirable, it rivaled her own. this night was much too heavy for scottie and that meant she was going to avoid that at all costs. not everyday your foster sister is brutally murdered in the town you currently live in. " since we all know the truth, " she pauses for a second to bring up her left hand, " fork it over, prince william. "
" pinoochio? that's awfully dreadful but not as dreadful as william... " he trails off as if he's measuring how much offense he should be taking. he supposed his options weren't already in his favor as it was. " honestly scots, out of the two and you choose to compare me to the balding one. " fork it over. if it weren't scottie, if it weren't for who the memorial was for, he wouldn't have been so eager to oblige of handing it over so quickly but he's not one without heart. " anyone ever tell you you're demanding? " he teasingly asks with a quirk of his brow as he reaches into his pocket to hold it out to her.
☆゚*·゚CHUCKLING SOFTLY, MACK nodded. He stood there, looking him up and down. "Yeah, you do actually, but I won't say anything if it's true." He wasn't one to yum someone else's yum, or cause any issues for anyone. At least not on purpose, or unless he was purposefully playing a prank on someone. "Can't say I've done it. I've done all kins of adrenaline filled activities, but never any drugs," Mack explained, wondering if maybe one day, he should. It would check the experience.
he sucks in a breath, a feigned moment of contemplation at the others words. " judging a book by its cover, i expected better. " he gives a shake of his head fishing out a carton from his pocket for a cigarette as if it weren't true. " adrenaline filled, hm? " already, his interest is piqued. " what, you mean like bungy jumping without the cord? speed racing? don't leave me hanging. "
kannika was no stranger to the notion. she never dabbled herself after she tried it at a party and failed miserably. swearing it off after suffering the embarrassment. "how am i suppose to know that is true or not? I heard looks can be quite misleading." she answered him as she looked around. "i mean if not you maybe the little granny in the pink sweater and glasses has an entire stash on her since no one would think to check her."
her eyes roamed around. there was alot of people who attended the event. she wondered if maybe she could do something like this for a more joyous occasion. "how helpfully would it be? would it not just make one feel everything ten times more?"
" i don't mean to be offensive but i highly doubt the granny could pull the sales unless it was arthritis medications. " it was a surface judgment call, the comment inadvertently verifying her point. " but i suppose that just means you might have a point - you don't know. " he liked to leave the possibility of truth in the air with a slight tease, he would not confirm nor deny it.
" i'd assume the goal would be to take your mind off things, " it was the easiest answer he could muster. in truth, it depended entirely on what you got. " not necessarily a bad thing given the circumstances, in my opinion. " he certainly wouldn't be one to judge how one would take their approach to dealing with things and that was where he came in without questions.
Ryder scanned his eyes throughout the crowd; he had been doing so all night. Then came her voice; he turned his head towards her, and the tip of his mouth curved up. "No trouble, not tonight." Though he knew where Jake was, and in the eyes of his lawyer, that might be considered trouble. "You get to take the night off from lawyering, and find something to do to ease your mind." Or maybe someone.
dara made sure to keep an eye on those surrounding them for any potential ears and eyes she didn't particularly want around or to see them together even if only in close vicinity. she'd have to come up with a good excuse why she, a big time lawyer is spending her free time with the president of the lost boys outside the courtroom. " i'd say that's almost a shame, " because then she could have an excuse to do something involving work.
she gives a raise of her brow at the mention of find something to do. the rest that follows doesn't ring in her ears nor did the bits before as she turns to him. she's heard something similar from him all too much before. " i know you're not seriously propositioning me here of all places. "
ㅤㅤ"Never, Elliott, never you," the corner of Richard’s mouth threatened upward as he eyed the area around them for unwelcome spectators.
ㅤㅤHe felt acutely aware Silas's entrepreneurship was among the trades lining his very own pockets. Drugs is one thing Richard never quite made peace with, but he understood what it would mean to try and restructure the family business with decades of out-of-state agreements in place. He'd merely settled on enforcing a no children rule and left it at that.
ㅤㅤWhat adults did was their own folly.
ㅤㅤ"Wait until the memorial part's over, would you?" He took a drag from his cigarette, shifting slightly to make room for Silas before he'd ran off to narcotize the whole gathering. "Our clientele will survive the delay."
where most people would take genuine offense to the judgment, sylas has a small laugh from it. perhaps he would look less so if he actually put in effort to do so with the full capability but he wasn't interested.
" you take me for a low level peddler, mate? " he holds a hand over his heart area in a feigned offense. richard should know as well as he does, it would be a smarter idea to wait. an entire service of those under influence would be terribly obvious. " and insinuating i'm only here to do so... is gutting. " truth be told there were more people who didn't care about the girl than did that wouldn't wait for the memorial part which was a shame, he did like her but it was just how people were or maybe it was an american thing.
" i surely hope you aren't here to keep an eye on little old me which if you are, i think you'll be disappointed, causing havoc isn't on my to do list for tonight. "
"and i'm shocked and quite frankly appalled you think i don't you well enough by now." cassie replied with a light chuckle. "go ahead. you know i don't tell secrets." she added, knowing that while it was tempting, she'd never actually touch anything. no alcohol, no drugs, at least not for tonight. not when she was trying her best to keep the fear at bay. "and if it helps, i think everyone else is thinkin' the exact same thing as you right now."
" foolish of me to think otherwise. " it was as close to spoken confirmation as he'd give her with only a small laugh. she was right, he did have some on him, some personal he'd only share with a few. " i don't think there's anything wrong with it, personally. whatever gets you through but, " he sighs with a slight scoff. " not everyone agrees or it wouldn't come with a prohibited label. " the only good thing that would come out of it was like it'd be a mini prohibition era for him except alcohol it was drugs. he wouldn't argue a potential penny to come from it but it was stupid regardless.
they say you can't pour from an empty cup but i've been doing it my whole life and aside from all of these mysterious ailments it's working out great for me
dara holds an iced sprite in hand as her gaze fixates on the bonfire, the warmth off the fire grazes her skin, she almost catches herself getting lost into it when she's pulled back when an all too familiar hits her senses. she doesn't have to look at him to recognize who's approached her. " lost boys trouble, already at a memorial bonfire? " she piques the question as if she expects this exchange to be professional to which, she would and would have a strong preference for it being so. " i would hope not, that would certainly not be a good look to your club's image. "

"Oh, please. You're basically Grimmvale's model citizen," Aaliyah shot back, the sarcasm impossible to miss as she rolled her eyes. "I'm supposed to believe you showed up completely sober and empty-handed?" A smirk tugged at the corner of her lips as she looked him over. "Come on, I know you've got at least one on you. Don't make me pat you down."
" it's about time i finally get some recognition. i provide a great service to the community of grimmvale that goes criminally underappreciated. " he quips through a small smirk. it really was a service after all, some people just needed to roll and smoke a joint after a long day and he was providing a helpful gesture. " and she's accusing me of sampling the merchandise. " he gives a shake of his head. " — the slander goes hard, cross. " she was right however, he didn't come empty handed, he had his own personal supply he could share. " i might. that depends entirely on you, love. what do you have to trade me? "
Ryder let out a laugh. "Oh yeah, you look like a choir boy." The blonde's head shook with the words. He was sure God himself didn't believe Sylas either. Ryder wasn't a recreational user himself, not anymore at least. He dabbled in his younger years, but since having his daughter, he kept things on the straight and narrow. "I'm sure, if you looked, you'd find one not too far at all."
" i never really fancied choir all that much to be honest plus the near combustion on arrival was always a bit of an issue. " it's a dry joke despite never touching that ensemble nor would he had ever. he was too busy with other things he'd heard plenty of times he's either going to hell or prison by those stiffer than boards or simply because it was a judgmental call based on appearances. it was fitting in the moment, he supposed. " i'm good mate, thanks. " unlike some of those in his clientele, he wasn't entirely desperate for it. it'd suffice for a cigarette however, fishing a pack from his pocket, offering one to ryder. " did you know her or are you just paying your respects? "

"That was just so touching. What a speech." Alana said, looking over at the person next to her. She wished she could roll her eyes. Everyone being here in the same place, acting like they cared about some random girl, pissed her off. Sure, she was a nice girl, but the fakeness everywhere was astounding. "Anyway, you got something a little harder to drink?"
" please, i could hear the lack of enthusiasm from here. " it sounded as all speeches did. rehearsed. there wasn't an idiom of care in their tone, their voice matched their face, not a tear shed. whether that was to save face or a superficial surface, well she could take a guess. " and if i did, do you expect it to be shared with you? " she's curious in the answer for if it was entitlement, she would be inclined to simply walk away and leave her hanging. she simply did not have the time or patience to deal with it nor did she particularly feel like it on a night she was told herself she would relax with no additional obnoxious factors. she does however, have a hidden flask of vodka hidden in her purse if she was satisfied with the blonde's answer.

it didn't sit right with him, how someone so nice, someone he had dated could just die like that, be found in pieces and yet no one had any clue what happened. there had to be something, and it frustrated him that there wasn't anything to be done other than to continue life as usual. tonight was supposed to be a celebration of gabby's life, but he found himself sulking, drinking from his flask in the near darkness, lost in thought for a moment before realizing he wasn't alone. "what? you want something?"
" yeah, " she approaches adjacent to him, letting the silence linger in the air for a moment. " to see how you are. " but of course that seemed pretty obvious, didn't it? gabby's death was already causing a different ripple effect in all who knew her, some more visible than others then some, maybe like her where it'd hadn't fully hit yet. " you looked like you can use more company than whatever it is in that canter of yours. "
