I know he had a lot going on, but for Mr. Abandonment Issues, it probably felt good as fuck that Abbot relentlessly kept trying to reach him. Robby was a total dick to him and it didn't matter, Abbot did not care. In the moment it was, "He won't fuckin' leave me alone." But deeper than that? He won't leave.

I saw a post of someone talking about what Sepideh recently said in regards to s3 and positive changes made by Baran, and they were kinda hating on robby saying that it shows that robby is a bad leader and that Baran would do a better job.
But Sepideh literally said that Al-Hashimi has been working with double coverage!!! I understand that’s partly because of her seizures but she also said she would recommend it.
And like of course the department is going to be running more smoothly and with less stress when there are two attendings!!!! That doesn’t proof that Robby is a bad leader and wasn’t doing a good job, it proves that management is shit and was overworking him!!!
It annoys me so much when people just pick and choose what they read/hear and make it fit their narrative.
that's not surprising at all! tbh i'm rewatching season one right now and at every given moment gloria is hounding robby about patient satisfaction scores, she's pushing and ranting, and he's retaliating asking for more nurses, more beds, more staff, and she snaps back that he needs to use the resources he has to make things better. it's placed entirely on robby's shoulders to improve a crippling system he knows he can't improve. the blame is placed on him, not the system. during season two he makes it clear to al-hashimi that pushing for change is unrealistic as he's tried and tried but got nowhere - no one is listening to him and he's trying his best. obviously baran al-hashimi is wonderfully stubborn and she desperately wants to push for change, going as far as to use generative ai, which is very controversial. but apparently in season three, she manages to do it.
for robby to leave and return to see fundamental changes, yet unknown, is going to be jarring to him and to the audience. they listened? why to her but not to him? what did she do differently? what could have robby done/said in the past? why was he the sole attending and now there's two? so on and so forth. people placing blame and saying robby is a bad leader is incorrect but realistic because he is relentlessly blamed for a system that is buckling and hurting these healthcare workers and why so many real people are feeling burnt out, drained, and helpless.

they did the research in the first place because they believed you and wanted to tell people about it. they are not our enemies.
people always go "Instead of spending all that time on a study they could have just listened to us when we said these thing happen"
they did listen, that's how studies work, they asked people about their experiences and put all the data together in a nice package that can be cited

The number of times I have been delighted by witty banter only to find out later that I was “Flirting” is both unfortunate and disappointing.

I found out several of my female coworkers were planning on trying to get our male coworker to ask me out because “You guys kept flirting” but I was like “We were literally just goofing around. Like we literally just told jokes to each other. Literally just stuff that friends do, the same stuff you and I do.” I was definitely 100% NOT flirting but everyone thought I was

This might be a good time for Ms. Psych degree here to step in and let ye all know that People Are Unable To Identify Flirting. There are double-blind studies to support this, if you instruct participants to flirt or not flirt with another participant, neither the second participant nor onlookers are able to accurately tell which instruction the first participant was given. Even if you get the flirting participant to rate their attraction to the person they’re flirting with, and only count trials where people are either flirting with people they find attractive, or not flirting with people they don’t find attractive NO ONE CAN TELL WHO IS FLIRTING OR WHO ISN’T.
I’ve heard that people actually have a *less than 50% chance* of guess whether someone is flirting or not.

my mum (2 phds, has led the national committee for her area of science in our country for 10+ years and has worked in that very male dominated area for 30+ years) was utterly shocked when I told her people online don't like robby because they see him as a misogynist.
like genuinely she was shocked. she said that if they were actually looking for a male character in the show that women working in stem would be unhappy to be colleagues with, then it would 100% be langdon.
she said its clear to her that if these were real people, she'd far prefer to work alongside robby because she can see he makes an actual effort to defend women and takes into account when people pull him up on things (such as david in s1). she said that he's realistic in that he doesn't always notice his bias but that she'd be happy to work with someone that actually tried, as opposed to langdon, who she described as being like "the nightmare of me and my female colleagues' workplace experiences".
she said she wouldn't be able to stand working with him on account of the way he talks about his wife like she works less hard than him, and the way he doesn't think about her in his decision making for massive household choices (she proceeded to say abby should've actually divorced him), as well as the way she said he's the kind of guy who won't take onboard criticism if he was pulled up on something misogynistic.
then I asked her how she felt about robby and al hashimi, and she just said that in her eyes, it's clear he's professionally respects her, even though he's reluctant to do so. her choice of wording was that his reluctance is due to his "possessiveness" over his department since he can't be in control of much more, and that he wasn't ever harsh with al hashimi due to her gender. (she wants them to be good friends in season three because she says they will be a "very competent" team, and they remind her of what became some of her best workplace friendships).
anyway lol this is just my mums pitt analysis, and I just thought it was interesting that an actual woman in a very male dominated stem area had such different views on who is actually safer for their female coworkers than pitt twt or tumblr seems to..

Having experienced a lot of it in my 20s, I think some of the worst, pettiest, most straight up this-is-just-bullying-you're-passing-off-as-praxis incidences of Queer Infighting endemic to young people can be best understood as attempts to exercise power by people with very little power.
Like you're 22, you're queer, you've just become a Marxist, the scope of World Suck is overwhelming and you have $30 in your bank account. What can you do to feel like you have any power? Well, you can try to get your frenemy cancelled for cosplaying a character from a problematic show. You can write a public callout post over someone's obviously friendly use of a slur you don't think they technically have the right to reclaim. Doing this stuff can make you feel like you have power and your actions have an impact. Unfortunately the impact in question is a negative impact on other marginalized people. But that often takes some maturity and self-reflection to notice.
I'm reminded of this post from 2017. To paraphrase, OP took part in community service via their university and part of that was cleaning the bathrooms at the local homeless community centre, which would frequently get trashed, not because the homeless people using them disrespected the work of the people cleaning them but because they had so little control over other things that happened in their lives, and the bathroom was something they could affect.
This, too, is a trashed bathroom; young queer people living through hell and having precious little control over their circumstances or the world in which they exist can affect something by using the language of social justice as a cudgel on their would-be allies, as well as getting a brief feeling of power over someone else by doing it.
It's not worth it. Don't trash your community bathrooms.
