Have you considered translating イストワール? From what I've heard it's inspired by Nepheshel and is the same genre. It doesn't seem like that any translation efforts have been made either.

I've been aware of Histoire 「イストワール」 for some time now, and did contact the game's author, Mr. T-k, some months ago through a support agent of his about inquiring about the possibility of an English translation. However, Mr. T-k relayed to me through his agent that he has no desire to authorize an English translation at this time due to his current life circumstances leaving him far too busy to review the game's internal documents for possible translating.

I tried to play this game and encounter this error: Cannot open file "People 1", any idea of what's causing this?

The reason this is happening is because you don't have the RPG Maker 2000 Runtime Package (RTP) installed. Without it, the game won't function properly. You can download it for free here: https://www.rpgmakerweb.com/run-time-package I'm pretty sure I mentioned this in the Troubleshooting section of the game's manual too.

Nepheshel is a freeware RPG created by the doujin circle Studio Til that was first released on June 3rd, 2002. Over 2 decades later, I published an English translation of this classic game with Studio Til’s permission on October 15th, 2022.

Having washed ashore from the ocean onto an island known as the “Confined Isle”, the protagonist is unable to remember anything aside from their name, with his sole possessions being an oddly shaped crystal, a dagger, and an enigmatic book. The island is also said to be plagued by a powerful curse, causing all who dare to enter or leave to completely lose their memories, making escape practically impossible. With little else to do, the protagonist embarks on a journey to find the answers they’re looking for… Nepheshel is a dungeon-crawler RPG, with many complex dungeons sprawling throughout the Confined Isle. The mysterious monoliths known as “Gates” scattered roundabout the island can prove instrumental in your adventure by warping you to and from the depths of dungeons you’ve visited, saving you some footwork. Players are not locked onto any one-way paths, thereby granting them a very high degree of freedom as to how they want to explore the island’s dungeons.

Furthermore, getting through dungeons can be a walk in the park since all enemies are displayed on the field with zero random encounters, allowing players to simply run past even the strongest of adversaries. If you get caught by them however, you’ll be lucky to escape with your life…

Use your power to the fullest, and do all that you can to find the truth.

SHAKE II CHARACTER BIOS

While I'm at it this evening, here's some bio translations I gave a year or two ago for the characters of SHAKE II, an obscure pachislot game with a funky soundtrack created by Daito Giken (大都技研).

BOY (ボゥイ)

The prince of hell, reincarnated into the human world as a DJ! He'll be at the club tonight, partyin' nonstop 'til morning light! BOY's got great physical strength and a foolhardy demeanor to go with it, but when he's in front of the ladies... Dude gets major-league stage fright. Likes: Junk food, skateboarding Dislikes: Unenthusiastic audiences, ladies in general

F.K. (エフ・ケー)

A hunk of junk robot who's a die-hard fan of American comics. He's usually pretty clumsy and is something of a blockhead, but has an oddly tender heart which makes him super popular. He tends to go haywire whenever he's on the run from trouble! Likes: American comics, kids Dislikes: Dogs, complicated math

NADJA (ナディア)

With more than a million albums sold, her live performances are constantly packed! Nadja, the insanely charming singer who is THE talk of town in the showbiz world, is a woman who is an inheritor of the ancient Dracula family bloodline. Though, she doesn't seem to be as fond of blood as her descendants... Likes: Romanée-Conti wine, aroma baths Dislikes: Blood, meals containing garlic

SKELETON (スケルトン)

The ratings for variety shows tend to skyrocket as viewers eagerly await this highly talkative and popular TV host! He's easily flattered... But in his private life, he's a dedicated worker that crams in as much info as he can. Likes: Gossip magazines Hates: Horoscopes (Won't look at them since they're so easy to believe)

KARIS (カリス)

A dancer who's an absolute narcissist. He rules on Dancing Night with his stylish steps. He also makes fitness products as a side business, but those have been selling rather poorly... Likes: His own reflection Hates: Mummy hunters

SABOT & MR. HONEY / SABOHANI (サボハニ)

An elusive duo of mysterious and unidentified lifeforms. They recently hijacked a TV station's space satellite to center in on their favorite trio! (Boy, Nadja and F.K.) What is their ultimate aim? An investigation is warranted! Likes: Unknown Dislikes: Unknown

B-B / BLACK BOY (ブラック・ボゥイ)

The emperor of the underworld in the flesh. A legendary lone wolf who fought his way to the top. B-B is worshiped as an evil influence on the city streets, where crime occurs on a regular basis. Likes: Japanese food, katanas Hates: Conspiracies

I think I may have went a little too overboard in terms of theme design, but I guess now I can properly demonstrate how much of a fan I am over an obscure pachislot game series I have never played in my life.
