just realized all but one of these bitches is elves. look. look. i been playing since i was 12 and little me was not ready to unpack everything that a beautiful dwarven women represents yet.
this is viera'vun lavellan. she goes by viera. she is my inquisitor, and a solasmancer (i am so sorry to her). she is by far the oc i write the most, and that is because i love her so very much. she was a dalish hunter trained primarily with dagger, later specializing as a tempest. at heart she is a pathfinder whose greatest strengths are her perceptiveness and resilience, while her weaknesses lie in her self-sacrificial tendencies, her impulsivity, and her tendency to run away. she likes to climb, run, and sing (poorly). she also has a daughter by solas named niri (at least in my canon worldstate). varric calls her 'finch'.
iloniyn, whomst i might even love more than vie. him and her are hunting partners as well as (platonic) soulmates, recognized by the dalish as tael'inan. they are each a half of a whole, and refer to each other together as one entity. iloniyn is incredibly sarcastic, over-confident, and prickly, but cares deeply about those he's loyal to, giving of himself freely to them and only them (even if he complains while doing it). he is bonded to @sweetmage's oc athimien, likes to whittle, is a great shot, and can play the lute. also acts as niri's father. varric calls him 'snipe'.
ishme aeducan, a sharp, hard woman who pulls the strings in any given situation, and will not be made a fool again. raised to navigate the subtle and dangerous world of dwarven politics she is incredibly cunning and calculating, and just a tad morally dubious. she is softened by alistair, who teaches her how to be a person as she teaches him how to be a king. it takes her at most a year before she is able to maneuver the bannorn into supporting her as queen, and even less time to make a puppet of her brother, to whom she allowed the aeducan throne. wields dual blades as a warrior.
taufei! she is a wife gal through and through. while at first viewed as a yound tag-along with no experience for the world outside her clan, she rises as a leader alongside ishme by the end of the blight, gripping the hearts of the commonfolk with her idealism and personality. she is friendly, and sees what the world should be. though content enough to do her own thing most of the time, she doesn't relent once she's set her sights on what she wants, and as such she often finds herself in...hairy situations. those situations include falling in love with and wooing a witch of the wilds and producing a sweet lil totally-not-in-any-way-shape-or-form-creepy baby with her! yippee! once she was the second of her clan after merrill, but her magic was never very strong, so she made a living on infusing potions. turns out she's actually incredibly powerful, but only in augmentative magic, as pointed out by morrigan. she is a skilled herbalist, knows enough archery to protect herself, and actually has very long luscious curls that Do Not Exist in game so you're just gonna have to trust me, okay? also has a cat :)
kita tabris. she is very...intense. if you're her friend, she's a bro through and through. if you're not her friend, she is very...intense. picked up her mother's sword and decided to learn how to use it because, hell yeah, big fuckin sword (which, as it happens, is exactly what her mother did). she finds battle thrilling, and isn't afraid to spill blood. while she comes across as flippant or immature, much of it stems from an avoidance of her more serious (and painful) thoughts and emotions. she loved her alienage even if they didn't really understand her, and honestly, while she wasn't exactly all that excited about marrying a stranger, she wasn't opposed to it if only on the grounds of giving back to the community that had let her do her own thing otherwise, despite her eccentricities (and intensities). plus, dude seemed chill. she is now, however, zevran's gorgeous and extremely powerful girlfriend whomst he finds quite endearing, and the fact that she can, has, and will crush a man's skull with her bare hands only strengthens his devotion <3
this is araia surana, a very sweet young mage who is wholly overwhelmed by the big, new world around her. previously a teacher's pet who didn't much mind kinloch hold with little in the way of friends, jowan's 'betrayal' left her reeling, and with nowhere else to turn. while she was always curious of the world beyond, she is also incredibly anxious by nature. after a time spent nonverbal, she picks up a habit of lying to avoid confrontation, and while she is very good at it it does eventually put strain on her and leliana's relationship. her passions shift often as she has a general hunger for learning, but she is partial to ancient magical techniques and, eventually, the study of spirits. she loves leliana's stories of adventure and romance, and often plays the part of a 'doll' when her girlfriend decides she needs someone to dress up. after the archdemon is defeated she spearheads efforts to find the cure for the joining alongside kita and zev, and eventually enlists the help of a wisp of discovery.

I did once have to explain to an almost 3 year old why a chihuahua wasn’t a cat and let me tell you THAT was a struggle and the kid was very mad about it.

people will say “they’re only friends” and then show me two people who would crawl through broken glass to hear the other laugh once. two people who have memorized each other’s coffee orders, fears, childhood stories, and emergency contacts. two people who would haunt each other’s houses as ghosts. be serious.
Just an FYI—the original intention of this post was to challenge the way people say only friends, as though friendship is somehow lesser than other forms of love. As if being deeply known, cherished, and chosen by another person could ever be a small thing. Normalize profound platonic love. Some of the most fulfilling, transformative, and enduring relationships we will ever have are friendships. 🫶🏼
