Hey can you guys reblog Cheeseburger so he can take a sunbeam nap on lots of blogs. No other reason I just want you guys to see him.
So, Cheeseburger died on November 21st after an unfairly short battle with an unfairly rare cancer that is rarely seen in cats. I only got to spend a month with him after his diagnosis, and losing him has been the greatest heartbreak of my entire life so far. He was my best friend and my soul cat, and he was there for me when I was completely alone, for twelve long years.
I made this transparent PNG the night he died in preparation for one of the many ways I was going to memorialize him--a surface rug in his likeness that I planned on laying directly in the line of his favourite sunbeam. And I uploaded that PNG here, because this is the website where people post their cats.
I was not expecting the reception I got. Many people have pointed out that this post has more reblogs than likes, and how insane that is in 2025 when reblog culture is at an all time low. I didn't even talk about the fact that Burger passed away in the original post, it wasn't a tearjerker reblog bait or anything like that. People just loved Burger that much, in the same way I fell in love with him at first sight. He was such an ugly kitten.
Anyways, it's really special to me that so many people have reblogged my best friend. I made this PNG to memorialize him in a completely different way, and you all wound up doing just that in ways I never even imagined.
Thank you. Wherever he is, I know the sun is shining.

Thereās actually a lot of history regarding the development writing systems and why there are different visual representations of numerals, but the short answer is: itās regional, and you probably picked up how to make your numbers look based on your parents or your primary school teachers
I do it out of spite because in grade school a kids detective story identified the culprit by saying NO American wrote their sevens with a line and I thought that was super flimsy evidence and it made me so mad I started putting a line through my sevens so the fictional detective would be wrong and then kept doing it for several decades since.

Proship has never meant anything except a combination of three ideas:
Ship and let ship (your ships don't harm me and vice-versa) and YKINMK (your kink is not my kink, and that's okay; my kink stories don't harm you and vice-versa)

Censorship of fiction is not acceptable either
Any other definitions are made by antis, not proshippers, and are an attempt at revisionism to justify harassment based on false claims.

Yeah. Antis like to claim that the "pro" means "problematic", but nope. "Pro" (for) is simply the opposite of "anti" (against), and all that "proship" really means is "Let everyone ship what they want, everyone mind their own business".

Incorrect. We had shippers and then people started calling themselves "anti-shippers", and pro-ship and anti-anti arose to mean "not an anti-shipper". That's all it's ever meant. It means not being an anti-shipper. Anti-shippers are trying to redefine it as meaning "problematic shipper" in order to try to gain rhetorical high ground by trying to give the impression that anyone who's not an anti-shipper is specifically writing underage rape porn and selling it to child abusers or something, but that has never been the case.
Some proshippers write about underage ships. Some write about gay ships. Some write the kind of generic romance that you'll find in an average romcom, with one character being the other's boss. Some write ships that not even the most obsessive puritan antis could find a firm moral reason to object to. Some, like me, don't write about sex at all and tend not to write about romantic relationships very much either, but firmly hold the stance that others should be allowed to write those things if they want.
Do you despise underage sex scenes? Does the very concept of them make you throw up in your mouth a little? Me too! I find them fucking disgusting! You know what I do about it?
I... don't read them. I certainly don't participate in hate campaigns to threaten, doxx or suicide bait random authors for writing stuff I don't like. That doesn't achieve anything. That doesn't protect any children. All it is is an excuse to bully someone and tell yourself that it's okay to feel righteous and powerful about it because people Deserve It if they write the fictional story wrong.
God I remember watching Voltron and Star Wars kick off into new depths of what being an anti meant.
We had shippers and gen fans and antis. Anti this ship, or anti that ship. And then somewhere things changed - I know it from Voltron but who knows, maybe someone else got there first - but ship wars went from being āyour ship sucksā to āyour ship involves someone two years younger so the age difference means itās pedophiliaā. āOne character said the other is like a brother to him so your ship is incest.ā Or my favorite from my old fandom, āthat character is possessing someone so your ship is necrophilia AND nonconā.
It always involved rewriting definitions so that there was a reason the antiās ship was pure and the ship they hated was morally wrong.
I remember years of adult antis showing younger fans what they considered ābadā material so the kids could report it. Adults deliberately showing kids explicit art or fic to encourage kids to search it out and try and get it deleted. I can go grab receipts, itās not hard because it happened so much.
Anti antis became a part of the ecosystem to push back on harassment campaigns and doxxing and all the other toxic nonsense that came from the ship wars. Proshippers were the group that said āI wonāt stand for censorshipā and usually tried not to get into the fighting the way anti antis did.
It never stood for problematic.
Unless you count pushing back on thought crime and censorship to be a problem, in which case we have a very different problem to discuss.
This whole thing seems absurd to me because I remember when th word "problematic" emerged as a less judgemental term to use when discussing people's behaviour. The whole point was to not categorise something as good or bad because that immediately put you in a frame of mind that was resistant to nuance.
