Things to Do Tarot Readings On:
Geomancy:
Take one suit of cards depending on your star sign or question. For example, I'm a water sign so I use the Cups suit. Remove the court cards and shuffle the remainder cards (the Ace to Tens) and ask your question. Pull out one card, look at the number and place the first mark. Put the card back and continue until all four marks have been revealed.
What Stage of your Practice are you on now:
The Major Arcana rules over karmic patterns and occurrences in life, being the Macrocosm. To work with this, take out all the Major Arcana and ask the question: "where is my energy at now?" And take out one to three cards. These cards, when read together, represent the Major energies in your life at that moment that impact you.
Spirit Identification
Take out all the court cards in the deck (the Pages to Queens) and shuffle them to determine the gender of the spirit and their function (Air is mental/logic/Gnana Yoga, Fire is Warsome/Spiritual/Purifying/Soul, Water is Emotion/Fertility/Baptism/Initiation, Earth is Life/Money/Movement/Karma Yoga).
Queens indicate older women or women in power (such as grandmothers, priestesses, matriarchs and deities like Astaroth, Hera and so on). Kings represent older men or men in power (grandfathers, priests, patriarchs, and deities like Lucifer, Zeus, Ba'al). Pages represent young spirits such as children, brothers and sisters, descendants and young deities like Hermes. They also represent trickster or gateway spirits. Knights represent elder spirits but still in your range, like older brothers, aunties and uncles.
Take the suit cards (Aces to Tens) and shuffle them to determine what area this spirit is manifesting in.
Take the Major Arcana to indicate the spirits major position or office in your life.
Example Reading: Queen of Swords, The High Priestess, the Two of Cups and Ace of Swords
Double Air (Highly Intellectual, possibly a student or teacher spirit). Queen is an older spirit. Two of Cups relates to pacts, contracts and is the Lesser Lovers, Ace of Swords is to cut and reveal. The High Priestess indicates a religious spirit, or a spirit imbued with temple mysteries.
Possible Spirits: Hekate (High Priestess), Allat (the Devil's Quran mentions her as particularly involved in human affairs, the Pact aspect brings to mind promises to spirits), a religious grandmother who prayed for you in the beginning and wants to teach you the family's heritage, the Two of Cups can indicate a drinker or someone who enjoyed wine.

Occult Martial Arts Ideas
The dojo or gym is a sacred space of mental, physical and spiritual growth. You are strengthening your mind and body to create a discipline that makes the struggles in the rest of your life easier. Maintaining the relationship with your spirits also means maintaining the spirit-self, your spiritual integrity; your oaths hold less water if you lack the spiritual ethos.
Spiritual integrity is the synthesis of mundane and spiritual; the extent to which your values hold up under discomfort. I believe walking the path that brings you closer to like-minded and virtuous beings helps overall with manifestation and bringing abundance, good friends and lovers, justice and general peace of mind. To walk this path using our spirits and our martial discipline, one must make explicit practices that combine emotional and mindfulness training, and perception.
Combine martial arts with an applied spiritual practice, meditation, for example. For example, in your meditation you have to breathe deeply, or clear your mind. This is easy in a dark room surrounded by candles. Can you keep this up while training? How about while getting punched in the face?
Interactive meditation, and performance as offering. Pick and maintain one single, uninterrupted quality through the entire training. Keep a smile through the entire class. This can be impressive to those trickster spirits.
Other qualities can be manifested as ideals in the gym, such as excellent defense, harmonized blending, quieting the mind for subtle and spiritual perception, always listening, soft and relaxed stance, etc - even focusing on a technique, or principle integral to a given spirit.
Use the opportunity to recognize when you've lost focus. You use a martial art to disrupt and distract another person's flow. But you'll know pretty quickly when someone else gets you to lose your flow, too. Quickly regaining a trance state or focus when there are distractions, emotional pain or chaos is particularly useful during evocations and divination.
Charisma as a ward - often I find that my wards are less effective when I am still stressed and insecure and doubting them: the most important protection you can be doing is from within. Experienced martial artists have sort of a swag to them. When they walk into a room, people instinctively treat them with a reverance; they can sense a competence there, and a capacity for danger. It is the cultivation of focus in the proximity to danger: the better you can walk the line between life and death, the better your confidence and autonomy, the better your manifestation.
Escaping the comfort zone - years of comfortable training is nothing compared to training on the edge of a knife. The fastest route to tapping into a primordial trance state can be achieved through martial discipline - that state where you are empty-minded, a mere vessel for the force of your spirits to flow through, animal intensity delivering, 100% over-heightened focus and perception required to manifest your goal - in some cases causing injury or preventing personal injury. This witch-like demon intensity comes to the surface pretty quickly after a nice staticky blow to the head.
Focus - undisciplined attention span is like that of an iPad kid. We can't receive the messages from our spirits or learn quickly. We can't control our focus - absorbed by some meaningless angel number or detail, misreading signs into the clouds about your ex, while the truth and patterns of your life goes unnoticed. Martial arts help us direct our attention and command it, as if our focus is a spirit itself, waiting to be spent - a little bit of focus sustained for a long period of time for a class, or intense focus at will for things like a conflict or sparring.
Letting go of the goal. There is a problem in manifestation where if you want something bad enough, you can kind of fuck it up by obsessing over it, and doubting, and worrying, and going back and letting your conscious ego worry about it and sabotage the outcome. A method for something like manifesting a job, or winning a fight: resolve as if you're already doomed. The outcome is already set. Then move yourself with the freedom of not caring about the outcome; without hesitation, doubt and fear.
Adopting that attitude of anticipation and trust helps your relationship with your spirits. Lesser witchcraft is like fighting. You really don't need to know exacfly what you're doing to achieve your end goal, or conversely cause serious damage. With good spirits certain things might take priority. In a fight you might focus too much on striking someone in the head, forgetting to protect yourself and your organs on your body. You might want to curse your abusive ex into the next dimension, but your spirit might focus on keeping you safe, creating obstacles between you and him, removing him from you physically rather than causing pain. It can be easy to react strongly and get angry at a well meaning spirit for not obeying you exactly - stay calm and practice perception.
As above, so below - as inside the gym, so outside. Ultimately your practice will benefit from critical self-awareness of yourself, your mental responses to stress and danger; people drawn to witchcraft come from fucked up circumstances. Technique relieves and transforms that stress. By understanding emotional stress and learning how to transform it so it does not take a toll on you and becomes productive is the essence of practice, as well as the path you walk in the rest of your life.
Transforming the fate of a situation is done subtly at first, manifesting smaller and smaller things until large outcomes are finally achieved. At some point you'll also realize that large problems have very very subtle moments of inception that slowly grow uncontrollable. Controlling yourself and your negative response patterns changes the outcome of shitty situations - what happens when you change your body language around a belligerent boss, hang up on an abusive phone call, stop engaging with the zero sum artificial realities other people present us with. Basically just applying techniques you learn in martial arts adjacent.
Remember that you are also a spirit: complex and multifaceted. your presence instills a certain essence onto others, you might bring a joy or positivity, make others push themselves more, you might agitate or intimidate others the same way. You have a direct and indirect impact that you own and you can change. With any other spirit, person, or being there are no trivial interactions or communications. Own and invoke your energy and control the glamour you put off; and notice how that affects your immediate environment.
Cultivating the intuitive self - the conscious mind is responsible for analyzing things logically, but is very slow and can miss things. In the back of your mind where you learn muscle memory, technique and different kinds of intelligence is when you can bypass that part of thinking; the unconscious is responsible for breakthroughs, reflexes, physical changes. The best way to improve is by embracing each encounter without even trying to control the outcome; you're not trying to win, the problem is not a puzzle to be forced or solved, your companion is arriving at the same moment of creation as you are. allow your body to do what it does without interference. This is true for sparring, spirit work, whatever the fuck. Celebrate and have gratitude for manifestation, but don't take credit! Analyze each result, set new goals, and enter each time new. Switch between learning when to apply analysis and when to move intuitively.
We all must learn and evolve whether we choose to or not. Martial arts and occultism have direct equivalence and a lot of overlap. You grow with intention, deliberation, mindfulness, critical self-examination, determination and commitment to a goal, innovation, trust, and compassion to yourself and your relationships. by truly letting go of your defenses, you become truly indestructible.

["A Method of Wax Figure Creation for Witchcraft"]
Note: This is one of my methods of poppet creation for wax dolls. It's not the only way. It's just one of my personal preferences. You're welcome to use it, adjust it, etc. as is comfortable for you.
I like to create my wax dolls using a central personal item from your target as a solid base. I like to use a taglock of matted hair from a target. Due to the amount of hair that is needed for this, I find it best to use hair collected from the target's brush. But, if you only have a few strands of hair, you can fill out the rest of your matted base with yard or thread. If you have herbs, written commands or other elements you want to incorporate, you can add them to this core as well. Begin by twisting and teasing the hair with your fingers until it holds together relatively well. Once it reaches this point, I recommend rolling it together between your palms until it has a firm, cigar-like shape. This doesn't have to be big, but it will serve as the core of your wax figure's torso and will give the initial wax something to cling to.
If you do not have a target--for example, if you are making a wax figure as an offering or as a seat for a spirit--you can use any item for your core. It does not need to be a taglock. That's just what I prefer to do for targeted effigy magic.
Once your taglock is complete, set it aside and use a double boiler or a countertop wax melter to melt the wax for your figure. I like to use beeswax because I have it already on hand for candles, but it's not very forgiving. If you want to make your wax figure more detailed, I recommend using a softer wax that you can more easily mold and shape. Melt and temper your wax the same way you would for hand-dipped candles (in Fahrenheit that's about 180 degrees for beeswax, 160 for paraffin wax, 150 for soy wax, 175 for calendula wax). If you don't have a thermometer, you can find the sweet spot by playing around with your heat once you start dipping. If your wax is coming out lumpier than you would like, the heat is too low. If the layers are building too slowly, it is too high.
Using tongs or a string tied around the taglock (which I find the easiest method), dip your figure's core into the wax several times to begin to build an initial shape. To speed this process along, it can be helpful to have a bucket of cool/cold water on hand to dip the figure into between wax dips. Just make sure to dab off any water droplets before redipping into the wax to prevent any water from getting trapped. Once you have a good core shape, you can start to accumulate layers with quicker dipping and use your fingers or a tool to start to shape the limbs and features. It is helpful to cover your workspace with wax or parchment paper during this part so you can safely lie the doll down to work with. Don't try to shape the limbs too long at once. They will get longer as you add layers. If anything breaks off while shaping, use a little wax to reattach and dip it a few times to reinforce it.
When your figure is the shape that you want, you can continue to add any desired detail (very carefully) using a warmed metal tool to shape fine details, smooth the surface, and make any inscriptions you like. I like to activate these figures by holding them under water once they are finished and saying "Drowned you are, waxen doll. Creature of my own making. When you are born again, you shall be changed and renamed." Then, lifting the doll from the water, say "Now you are born anew and a-named. I name you [target's name] and make you [target's name]. All that is done to you shall also be done to [target's name]."
If you are making a figure as an effigy or as a seat for a spirit, you can dedicate it in whatever way you prefer. You do not need to use the drowning method.

[Alt Text for Screen Readers: "A Spell to Reveal an Unknown Identity"]
At the darkest point on a Thursday night, take a candle stub (three or four inches should do) from a candle used upon your altar or a Church altar and place it in front of a mirror or bowl of water. Cover your eyes with your hands and say "Come, now, spirits without name, and reveal to me the person that I wish to see."
Uncover your eyes and explain in plain speech who it is you want to have revealed to you (ex: a person who is gossiping about you, a secret admirer, etc.). Then, light the candle and gaze into the mirror or water beyond it, waiting for the identity to be revealed to you. This may happen as an image in the flame or the in the mirror, an impression that occurs in your mind, or in a dream after your spell.
Adaptation: If you prefer, you may also use another divination method by the candle's light (Tarot, bones, etc). Whatever divination you work best with is fine.
Allow three days, repeating the rite each night and burning just a small amount of the candle, for the identity to be revealed. Once you have divined the person's identity, you may anoint the remaining lump of candle with blessed water and say, "Now I have seen you. Now you are known. Now, by the spirits, you must hear me." At this point, you can speak plainly to give this person a command (such as to cease their gossip, to end doing harm, or to see certain good qualities in you) and burn the rest of the candle down as much as possible. Discard of any leftover wax and wick in the garden of a church.
Reblogging to add notes on how I arrived at the methodology and format for this spell. This spell is inspired by a folkloric motif known as Type 425A in the AarneāThompsonāUther Index (ATU Index). The specific folk tale that I used as the primary source of inspiration for the symbolism and mechanics of the spell is a Norwegian folk talk called East of the Sun and West of the Moon (AsbjĆørnsen & Moe, No. 41), which fall into the thematic category known as "The Animal/Monster Bridegroom" (425A, ATU) and the broader category of "The Search for the Lost Husband" (A25, ATU).
This spell is started on a Thursday night because, Thursdays are considered an especially potent time for sorcery and for works invoking the help of spirits. This is especially true with magic relating to graveyard and churchyard work and is a noticeable theme recorded in Swedish and Norwegian personal grimoires. (If you want to view examples directly [and can read Norwegian], I recommend browsing the University of Oslo (UiO) "Magic in Norway" Archive. If you cannot read Norwegian or Swedish, The Graveyard Wanderers: The Wise Ones and the Dead in Sweden (Johnson) also contains several examples of this association in practice.)
East of the Sun and West of the Moon is a tale that centers on the magically concealed identity of the heroin's husband, which she reveals with the use of a bit of candle given to her by her mother. Although this would make a candle from the family home or any candle stub procured from a loved one suitable for this spell, I elected to use a candle associated with the Church or one's altar instead. I made this choice both because of the folk magical associations with curios from chruchgrounds (often used in the summoning of spirits and the revealing of hidden things) and because of the themes of Christianity and purity which appear in the folk tale.
The tale has a recurring theme of threes (three drops of tallow, three stages in a journey, three nights the heroin attempts to save her groom), which lends to the three-night time frame. This was also a practical decision used to allow more time for careful divination. The candle and wick are returned to the church in the end (if there is any leftover) because the tale does have an emphasis on the fabled purity associated with Christian faith (Christians being the helpers that reveal the truth to the groom, and heroin's Christian faith allowing her to pass a test that the witches and troll in the story cannot, etc). This can be done in any place the practitioner associates with purity, faith and closeness to divinity.
highly dependent on cosmology(?) but I would generally advise against setting up an altar to manage a part of your life and then forgetting about it, which is the magical equivalent of putting a wild horse in a corral and forgetting to feed it.
Correct, you did not need to feed it before. And yet behold, it is now starving.
You know?
Like yes, a domesticated horse can have wildly better health, longevity, safety, etc. But you also have to feed it. And you did not have to feed it while it was roaming free.
Which in and of itself is a fine approach to altar building: "what if my [protection/prosperity/small business/relationships/etc] were a Creature that I was kidnapping and domesticating?"
Safe corral (protection for that thing)
Veterinary care (healing for that thing)
Home care (washing, polishing, and mending that thing)
Feedstock (energizing and feeding that thing)
Enrichment (drawing in new experiences that make the thing happier and healthier)
Getting rid of snakes (banishing things harmful to the thing)
Cute outfit for that thing (altar aesthetics matter and I don't mind saying it)
In such a style, any given altar should have a representation of the Creature and then protection for it, things to uplift it and help it to thrive, care and healing, very good source of nutrition for it to feed on, and depending on need some surrounding work put into the environment (getting rid of snakes) so that your thing is highly protected, as befitting such a cherished Creature.
You can indeed reach much greater heights of wellness and success with a domesticated thing, but then that requires all the care that homesteaders are already familiar with. And I think it's likely that to corral a Creature and then neglect puts you much worse off, because the Creature is of course ultimately something from your life important to you, that you are seeking to take direct control over.
So in some cases, it is much better to never try to enshrine the Creature at all. And in other cases, very powerful magic, and easy to be had.
the Chicken furthermore tries to convince you to practice sorcery in a fun and fulfilling way
There is a difference between practicing goal-oriented practical sorcery, and placing the entire value of your sorcery on whether or not you achieved the goal. One of these things is soul-crushing.
Practicing sorcery should be it's own reward. The actual steps you are performing should be stuff that you like, or thrills you, or captures your fascination. As an activity, practicing sorcery should be satisfying regardless of whether or not the spellwork manifests properly.
If the sorcery on your plate is not satisfying, compost it and return to the endless buffet and try a different type of sorcery.
If you do not have the things you need, your first step to a spell becomes innovation. What is the purpose of the thing in the spell, and how can it be replaced?
A spell can be cast with a length of string, or a paper and pen. Or with a bit of crayon. Or a dead fly. Or with just you.
Sorcerous knowledge tends to reveal itself when the clutter of correspondences is placed aside, so having few things to practice with is not a curse.
You do not need an interpersonal spiritual friendship with every single spirit you want to work with in magic. YOU DO NOT.
Interpersonal friend relationships with spirits should probably be reserved for very special spirits in your "inner court," the beings with which you choose to share your life and that you honor as teachers and guides.
Many spirits are pleased to assist with magic, but have no interest in getting to know us personally.
Imagine if everyone in your askbox wanted to ask you for help on something you're knowledgeable about, but instead of just asking for help, they first wanted to DM you for a few weeks to make sure you're comfortable with being asked for help, meanwhile on your correspondence chart pinned post it says "I can help with [topic]! Just ask!"
Asking spirits for help in magic is a good, valid way to start building a relationship with them.
Repeatedly calling on the same spirit or type of spirit over and over in spellwork is a fantastic way to deepen your relationship with them.
Working with a spirit in magic does not mean you are obligated to build a shrine to it, venerate it, talk to it outside of spellwork, or any of that.
Practicing sorcery is not the same thing as casting a spell. Practicing sorcery also means practicing the composite skills which come together to make a spell.
A spell is like a completed painting. But to make that painting, the artist needed several skills: the ability to sketch the scene, knowledge of how to apply and work with their paint, color theory, an understanding of how to render landscapes, and so forth. As a sorcerer, your skillset might be imbuing intent, raising energy, centering and grounding, practicing trance, practicing psychism or divination, etc. As you gain familiarity with these things, spells become less like an imposing stranger, and more like someone you're sure you've met before.
Practice can be it's own reward, but discipline is often required for progress.
Raising energy once a day, forever? I think not.
Raising energy once a day for seven days? Or, dedicating to doing it a total of ten times this month? Perhaps so.
An artist may not be in love with every single step of the process, and sometimes a sorcerer may have to get good at a skill that's not their favorite. But if no part of the process sparks joy, then something is wrong.
Sucking at something is the first step to being kind of good at something. Be reasonable with yourself: does the beginner artist doodle a landscape, then look at their work and declare that their art "doesn't work"?
Not every witch is talented at every sort of sorcery. Not creating a potent prosperity spell after five tries doesn't mean you're bad at magic. It might mean that your current understanding of prosperity magic precludes good results, or that you are casting on one very intransigent situation, or that your true talents lie in destruction and chaos instead of peaceful growth.
Set practice goals, give it an honest go, and move on when the time is right: "I am going to practice raising Fire energy and putting it into this stone using the Pore Breathing method. I'm going to do it fifteen times." (3 months later): "That sucked and it never worked, but I did it all fifteen times. Next I'm going to do a grounded roots visualization and use it to channel water energy to cleanse my room." (10 days later): "That was awesome, I want to do it more than 15 times."
Play around and be silly with it. Taking your path seriously is not the same thing as taking your path somberly.
Sports teams practice drills to be ready for game day. Sorcerers are wise to take a page from their book, because when real-life game day arrives, it feels much better to deal with it when you know you've been having pretty good success with channeling water energies, so maybe it's best to do something with that, because you can't move fire for dick.
More Effective Spellwork
I write because I love to share ā§ My beliefs are not universal, universally good, or universally helpful ā§ This post is full of my personal beliefs, practices, and UPG ā§ Take from it what you will and leave the rest behind ā I mean a ton of UPG, and this is really NOT going to resonate with everyone. Seriously please don't be mad at me.
I know what you want. You want to cast spells and get results. Me too, so let's get at it:
There are two brothers named Conjure and Banish, and when they work together, they are more powerful than ten men.
Your life is probably already at capacity. Nature abhors a vacuum, as they say. You're surrounded by vibrations. If you want to call in a new vibration (like love, prosperity, or peace), where will it fit in? What if you have a directly opposed vibration (debt) that will cancel out your desired outcome (emergency fund)?
When you banish something, that vacuum is created. The world will readjust to fill it. You have a hole in your life the shape of a shitty ex-friend who needs to permanently get gone. The world around you wants to fill in that hole, and it's going to take the path of least resistance. What is the perfect size and shape to fill that hole? ...That exact same friend. Or someone just like them. Boo, we don't want that. That would suck.
Banish debt, then conjure wealth.
Banish shitty ex-friend, then conjure blessed and wonderful friends.
Banish habit, conjure new helpful habit.
UPG: Do not combine the banishment and conjuring into a single spell. I can't turn left and right at the same time. I can't step inside and step outside at the same time. Banishing and conjuring are mutually exclusive. Two spells, twice the power, one to open space and one to fill it with your desired reality.
In the Forest of Wishes there are three wells, and for your wish to come true you must drink of all three: the first well is named Divinity, the second is named Your Will, and the third is named Physical Vessel.
Does only the physical exist, mass, molecules, density, and nothing else? No, there is also life, spirit, and will. Is physicality imbued with spirit and will all that exists? No, there is also divinity.
So much easier it is it is to birth new realities which are infused with all three!
Petition gods (which you have a relationship with, or whom are cool being petitioned by strangers), your higher/divine self, or perhaps even the universe itself through fervent prayer. Prayer is not a form of worship here; it is a form of communication. Have a conversation, even if it feels one-way. Explain your needs. Explain what you want to have happen and not happen. Ask for help. Ask for the way to be cleared and the roads to be open.
The flight plan has been submitted to the universe; now, time to fuel the airplane. Pay spirits, invoke powers, and/or engage your intense willpower during the spell process. Infuse, direct, and channel energies into your spell.
It is difficult for the astral to become physical. There is a glass veil around the world, and magic scrabbles its feet on the smooth surface seeking a foothold. Puncture this veil and allow your magic to boldly step into the physical world - by devoting a physical object to be its earthly body.
This physical object may be the spell jar, dollie, or amulet kept for a long time. The object may be a paper sigil, candle, or incense, burned down into its composite parts. It may be a leaf you then drop on the sidewalk, or a cup of tea you drink. It may be anything, as long as it is physical.
(I know many people can successfully manifest by just doing pure energy work or without any physical components, etc. But not everyone can just visualize and have successful manifestations, sometimes practitioners [like me!] do need extra steps.)
A witch had many wishes to make, but the trip to the Forest of Wishes was long, and building camp there was tiring. Conjure said, "why not build a house there?" Banish said, "yes, then each journey will be twice as easy, and take half as long."
Altars (both physical and digital, though for reasons above I prefer physical altars when possible) are not just for gods or general spellwork.
An altar can be built for a specific purpose, and be taken down when that purpose is achieved.
Such specific purposes might include a prosperity altar to manage finances, a work altar to deal with your annoying coworkers, a peace and love altar to bring sweetness and calm into your life, etc.
The moment you consecrate the altar to the purpose of "managing such-and-such situation," it becomes like a little portal linking you to those energies. Another way of thinking of it is that the altar itself becomes the same as that situation, just as a dollie becomes the same as the person it represents. What happens to the dollie happens to the person; what happens to the altar happens to the situation.
This cuts down on steps within practical spellwork. The targeting is mostly done for you, for example; we know where the spell is going because the altar is already connected to it. The altar accumulates energies you build up, making it easier and easier for you to access the same energies every time you work through it.
Simple acts of magic become much easier, as literally dusting the altar dusts off the situation - lighting a candle on the altar, even if it is uncharged, gives energy to all your intents surrounding the situation.
The altar becomes a command center for that situation, allowing you to engage with it more quickly and easily than casting independent spells one after the other.
When the situation has been modified to satisfaction, the altar can be taken down and done away with.
Short Direct Vision Spell with Helios
Source: PGM Va 1-3
Difficulty: Intermediate
Materials Needed: Olive oil, a small bowl, bay leaf, myrrh, frankincense, something to burn the frankincense with
I found this direct vision spell in the PGM so I decided to try it. I felt Helios trying to enter my headāa sensation where Iād anointed myself, my closed eyes started to roll back and things went blackābut I struggle with channeling spirits or trance meditation and he was unable to communicate with me. I hope this will serve someone here well. Itās the easiest vision spell Iāve seen.
ė 볓기
From @ancientmagickacademyā :
As this is a spell for divine communication, cleanse yourself beforehand (I took a quick shower) and Iād recommend observing basic ritual purity: not having sex for three days before the spell. Wear a phylactery during this spell.
The PGM itself gives no instruction on how to perform this, so I made my own recipe for the oil to anoint yourself. As olive and laurel branches are commonly used as crowns in spells, especially spells for divine communication, I used olive oil with a bay laurel leaf. I added some myrrh as it is used for many inks in divine communication spells. (these ingredients were also chosen because I had them on hand)
I also decided it would be best to burn frankincense as it is a sacred incense that it offered to Helios and used in other trance spells.
Hereās an image of my set-up after the spell, the charcoal burned:
Begin by lighting your frankincense and offering it to Helios with some words of praise. Feel free to make other offerings to Helios as well.
Pour some olive oil into your small bowl and add the bay leaf (dried is fine; I used it). Add a small amount of myrrh broken into flecks, grinding with a pestle or simply pounding it will do. Use the bay leaf to stir the oil.
Repeat the following spell until you feel the presence of the god: O Helios BERBELŠĢCH CHTHŠĢTHŠĢMI ACH SANDOUM ECHNIN ZAGOUŠĢL, bring me into union with you and show me [the matter you want answers on].
When you feel he has come in, anoint your forehead with the oil, close your eyes, and allow yourself to channel him and go into a trance vision.
I had a headache after I performed this, (Iām guessing Helios couldnāt quite fully enter my head nor fully leave it) so I lay down, thanked Helios and said he could go, then washed my forehead with salt water and that did the trick. Iād recommend doing the same if you run into that issue.
Spell to Assess Cast Love Spells
Source: PGM IV 94-153
Difficulty: Easy
Materials Needed: None
Yes, there are so many love spells in the PGM thereās even a spell to see whether a love spell worked! I used this with one of the first love spells I cast and it correctly predicted its success (I was salivating so much I was worried I would drool while talking). I just used this on a love spell I cast last night and kept yawning when I finished talking, so letās hope for the best! These statements will make way more sense when you read the spellā¦Ā
I assume this spell should work with even non-Graeco-Egyptian love spells, so if you have a love spell that you cast and are waiting on results for, you can perform this spell to check up on it. Let me know how it goes!

From @ancientmagickacademy :
Prepare for this spell however you wish; I tend to just clear my mind before reciting it.
Speak the following passage once, doing your best to put emotion into the dialogue. Feel free to read it off this post. If a large amount of saliva forms in your mouth as you speak, the love spell has worked and the target wants to talk to you. If you yawn frequently while speaking or immediately after, it is a good sign and your target wants to come to you. If you sneeze two times or more during/after speaking, the love spell failed. If you get a headache and start crying, your target is danger; the PGM seems to imply that the love spell is harming your target. If nothing happens, I assume it means the love spell failed.
YN = your name, TN = targetās name. Iām using she/her pronouns in the spell to refer to the target, as this is what the original uses, but change it accordingly when you recite this.
Isis is the one who comes from the mountain at midday in summer, the dusty maiden, her eyes are full of tears and her heart is full of sighs.
Her father, Thoth the Great, came in unto her and asked her, āO my daughter, Isis, dusty maiden, why are your eyes full of tears, your heart full of sighs, and your garment soiled? Away with the tears of your eyes!ā
She said to him, āHe is not with me, O my father, Ape Thoth, Ape Thoth, my father. I have been betrayed by my female companion. I have discovered a secret: yes, Nephthys is having intercourse with Osiris, my brother, my own motherās son.ā
He said to her, āBehold, this is adultery against you, O my daughter Isis.ā
She said to him, āIt is adultery against you, O my father, Ape Thoth, Ape Thoth, my father; it is pregnancy proper for me myself.ā
He said to her, āArise, O my daughter Isis, and go to the south to Thebes, to the north to Abydos. There are those who trample there. Take for yourself Belf son of Belf, the one whose foot is of bronze and whose heels are of iron, that he forge for you a double iron nail with a wide head, a thin base, a strong point, and light iron. Bring it before me, dip it in the blood of Osiris, and hand it over; we shall place it in this mysterious flame.
Every flaming, every cooking, every heating, every steaming, and every sweating that you will cause in this flaming stove, you will cause in the heart, in the liver, in the area of the navel, and in the belly of [TN] whom [TNās mother] has borne, until I bring her into the house of [YN] whom [YNās mother] has borne and she puts what is in her hand into my hand, what is in her mouth into my mouth, what is in her belly onto my belly, what is in her female parts onto my male parts, quickly, quickly, immediately, immediately. Rise up to the kings of Alclah, speak the truth in OupоĢke, arouse god after [TN] whom [TNās mother] has borne, and I shall send her to be with [YN] whom [YNās mother] has borne. For I am To son of To; I am the Great son of the Great; I am Anubis, who bears the glorious crown of Ra and puts it upon King Osiris, King Osiris Onnophris, I am the one who arouses the whole earth, that you may arouse the heart of [TN] whom [TNās mother] has borne, that I may know what is in her heart for me, for [YN] whom [YNās mother] has borne, on this day.
Rise up to heaven and arouse the High One after the Noble One. Rise up to the abyss, and arouse Thoth after Nabin; arouse the heart of these two bulls, Hapi and Mnevis, arouse the heart of Osiris after Isis, arouse Ra after the light, arouse the heart of [TN] whom [TNās mother] has borne after [YN] whom [YNās mother] has born.
When she drinks, when she eats, when she has intercourse with someone else, I will bewitch her heart, I will bewitch the heart of her, I will bewitch her breath, I will bewitch her 365 members, I will bewitch her inner parts whenever I desire, until she comes to me and I know what is in her heart, what she does, and of what she thinks, quickly, quickly, immediately, immediately.*
*These last two paragraphs can be repeated a few times as a reinforcement to the love spell you previously cast.
(note that this spell has some missing bits that I smoothed out to make it read better; the spell works fine like this)
Voodoo Mama's Spellbook: Revenge Curse
*My spells are okay for any and everyone to use in their craft, not just those who practice Voodoo or Hoodoo*
Oh babies this sure is a NASTY spell. This is a revenge cross/curse. I originally got it years ago from a website and changed a lot of aspects of it. I cannot seem to find the original writer to give them the original credit but if you know please let me know. Again, I have changed a lot about the spell and have made it my own.
Ingredients:
Spiderwebs, from a very dark place in your home preferablyĀ
Black Square of Fabric
Dead InsectĀ
Plants or herbs for your intent. I will be using Spanish Moss and the flowers from a Persian Silk TreeĀ
Personal Item of the PersonĀ
Black CandleĀ
Oil to anoint the candle with proper intent (Optional, I will be using Black Arts Oil)
Small slip of paper
Pen (If you can write in bats blood ink that would work amazing too.)
Directions:
Write what you want to happen to the person on the slip of paper. Do you want them to suffer? Lose their job?Ā
Anoint the candle in your oil of choice and light it. Imagine everything that will happen with this curse. Really put your energy into it. If you are contacting any specific deity for this, now would be the time. If not, continue.Ā
As the candle burns, place the cobwebs you obtained into the center of the square. This is to bind and hold. This will stick.Ā
Take the dead insect and place it inside of the web. This insect represents your victim. They are now stuck in your web. Add the personal item at this point to bind it to them. Bonus points if it is their hair or nails as it will make the spell more likely to work and even stronger.Ā
Sprinkle any herbs or plants that you gathered into the mixture, visualizing their intent.Ā
Pour the candle wax into everything. Just onto all of the ingredients. You are sealing them in and there is no turning back at this point.Ā
Tie everything together with the fabric. Thank your deity if you called them. Go somewhere dark and dank, using the candle as your only light. Like a corner of your basement, a crawlspace under your house, a hole in your closet wall, somewhere like that. Make sure it will get as little light as possible. Once you find a place, blow out the candle and let the smoke linger. Now you will leave it there for either 16 days or 16 weeks, which is 4 months. There is no in between. The number must be 16. So choose the smaller time or the longer time. Either way it will work but I would think of it like this: The longer it stays the more extreme the curse will be, as it builds up over time. Do not look at, touch, or mess with it until it has been either 16 days or 16 weeks. I would count it down to the minute just to be safe. The devil cannot even refuse you when you use the number 16.Ā
As the time continues, you will notice things start to slowly happen to the person. Small inconveniences. This is when you know that the energy has found the person. It is watching them and waiting on your last command.Ā
You are now to seal the deal. All of the built up energy in this charm is ready to be released. Take it and (quickly) go to a graveyard. Bury the charm under ground and as soon as it is completely covered, the energy will spark and sink into the ground. Pushed by the spirits, it will find the person you aimed it at and hit them like a ton of bricks.
Warnings: This is a very powerful spell. I would not recommend it if you just want to cause a little bad luck on someone. This is for serious revenge and someone who really deserves it. THIS CURSE CANNOT BE REVERSED. THE CURSE WILL CARRY ON UNTIL IT FEELS IT HAS DONE THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF REVENGE FOR YOU. The energy has to go somewhere and if you leave it alone for longer than 16 weeks the spell will hunt you down. If you throw it away it will hunt you down. You cannot back out after the wax is poured. If you choose to stop, before the wax is poured of course, simply take the bug out of the web and bury it and then dispose of the other items.
iāve had a hard time getting my head around theĀ āarchetypeā thing and i still am not fond of the overly new-agey view on it. i think there is individuality within spirits, always, and i donāt think every single deity need to be apart of some bigger archetype.
however, i do like RJ Stewarts take on it: āan Archetype is a Matrix or key image which gives shape and direction to energies arising out of the Primal source of all being.ā
Winter Saint Offerings
Some leftover fruitcake ingredients taught me a valuable lesson quite a few years ago when I was short on winter saint offerings: if you keep a selection of dried fruit in an air-tight container youāll always have sweet treats on hand to present during veneration.

The house of the Dead. (French Folks Traditions)
The room of the dead should not be swept and if it is done, the sweepings should not be thrown away because this could drive the soul of the dead out and hurt it. The dust and sweepings are pushed under the bed and will be burned later.
Nothing that is present at the time of death should leave the house, otherwise the deceased would be forced to wander until he has been able to gather everything.
Of course, not the slightest noise should be made. The clocks are stopped. The bells are covered with handkerchiefs. The mirrors and paintings are veiled. All objects hanging on the walls are turned over, plates, pots, pans, paintingsā¦
