I think Ilya is driven even more crazy than in canon because Shane is in short sleeves when he reaches his hand out to shake and it, too, is covered in freckles.

ilya's absolute worst showing at a summer exhibition tournament is the year shane mafuckin hollander, for reasons (clothing brand requirement, freak heatwave and 'tism temperature sensitivity, chosen specifically to fuck with ilya who knows), wears sleeveless shirts and ilya cannot fucking concentrate

shane's tan and sculpted and having a grand time with low-stakes matches and the arm holes are big for range of motion and show a delirious amount of his ribcage and there are shoulder freckles
