Shipcember day 10: Spuhura
He adores her in every universe and that is a FACT.
STAR TREK Charlie X | S01 E02
STAR TREK Deleted Scene (watch here)
Uhura: Mr. Spock, that music really gets to you. Spock: Yes. I find it relaxing. Uhura: Relaxing? It's.... I don't know what to call it - but relaxing's not the word. Spock: Most interesting. I suppose it works differently on non-Vulcan nervous systems. Uhura: I'd certainly like to learn how to play that. Spock: I'd be glad to give you the theory. The mathematics are somewhat complex. To my knowledge, no non-Vulcan has ever mastered the skill.
we need more content of specifically TOS spuhura please
Sometimes I draw ink/anime Spock, some others I paint blocky pastel Spock-
Bottom line is: there's always a good reason to draw Spock
PT #2 of : I know that TOS photography might look cheesy and unapologetically 60s, especially in their framing choices. (Which I love) But the colours.
THE COLOURS
And of course, I had to include Mirror Mirror

[VULCAN PRIESTESS HEADCANON]
another fun yarn spun on the server. The headcanon here is that fancy Vulcan families used to, and still sometimes do, hire extremely powerful telepaths in order to quiet and take care of their babies. These would be people who would basically be masters of emotional control, take a super high ranking role in society and be able to use their telepathic abilities to just lull your spawn to sleep instantly. Fancy Vulcan families are BEGGING to get one of them to work for them, so they’re often flooded with lavish work contracts and offers. They’re also super good in Self Defense and espionage and so a lot of them are former intelligence or will go into working in that sector after a couple of decades. I think especially in the mirrorverse thered be a high demand for murder nannies.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk
I love Tuvok. No member of Voyager had more to lose than him. He left behind a wife and four children and had to keep it together the entire time. Must have been so isolating. LLAP.
Yesterday the need to draw T'Pring struck me like lightning and here she is now in all her gorgeous glory 🖖💜✨

I wish we had Spock speaking more in the vulcan language, especially with other vulcans
"STAR TREK" S2E18 - "The Immunity Syndrome"
the more i watch star trek tos, the more it becomes abundantly clear that the reason why modern trek doesnt get kirk at all is because they dont utilise mccoy nearly as much anymore
in modern trek, they always present the idea of logic vs emotion, with spock being logic and kirk being emotion, but thats not how tos has it. in tos, the logic vs emption debate is spock vs mccoy. kirk is supposed to be the mediator between the two, sometimes siding with one side over the other, sometimes finding a middle ground between the two. thats why hes the captain, hes able to see all angles and pick the best course
when you make kirk the emotional one, it completely breaks the format, because 9 time out of 10, it means kirk has to be correct. theres no more balance
mccoy is just as important to tos as spock is, and while i do understand why spock is as popular as he is, without mccoy, the show doesnt work. you need them both. kirk spock and mccoy are the three leads of the show, and removing one requires you to change the others, which is whats happened to kirk
and because having kirk as the purely emotional one requires that he and spock butt heads constantly, which on the long run hurts their dynamic, the modern trend has been to make spock more emotional to smooth things out.
so really everything suffers as a result.
[IMAGE 1] "Watching AOS right now and THEY DESTROYED UHURAS CHARACTER sO MUCH"
[IMAGE 2] "No thoughts, just the way they assassinated Uhura's character in aos"
#TOS Uhura would think worse things about the AOS version of herself than the mirrorverse version of herself #at least in the mirrorverse she had a spine
———————
Yet another frustrated sigh...
No, AOS did not destroy Uhura's character. We just see a different side to her, you know?
Here's a quote from Nichelle Nichols herself, who approved of the characterization -
“While they were shooting, J.J. Abrams invited me to lunch and invited me to come to the set. I was so excited. The surprise he had going was that the young woman playing Uhura [Zoe Saldana] didn’t know I was coming. She just gasped.
As J.J. had planned it, she didn’t have to shoot, so we sat for two hours and talked, and it was as though I had known her all her life. I was so honored. I thought I was seeing myself — I knew I was in good hands. She just picked my brain.
When I see her come on, that’s me and I’m living it. A little ways into the movie, I realized she had taken to heart what I said and became more reserved and tighter. I’m so proud of her. She took a role that was established and gave it life.
Now I know who I was before I got on that ship for that first mission. It’s so exciting for me and rewarding. J.J. and she did me honor.”
—— Nichelle Nichols for the Iowa Gazette

Also, AOS Uhura has a fucking spine. Did you forget she faced an entire squad of Klingons on her own the 2nd film?
