synopsis: seonghyeon’s in an upcoming band, called cortis. sure, they haven’t had much gigs yet but they’re getting there! one day, martin suggests that they find a stylist to bring more personality to their branding, and who’s a better candidate than y/n?

“y/n’s at the door. clean up a little, yeah?” seonghyeon quickly said, stuffing a few chips into his mouth and placing his guitar down. martin rolled his eyes to the back of his head at seonghyeon.
“why do we have to clean..” keonho grumbled as he cleaned off the small coffee table in the garage. seonghyeon ran—well speed walked—to the front door. he unlocked the door, opening the door to reveal the girl behind it.
“hey y/n! sorry, we couldn’t hear you,” seonghyeon apologized with a small grin. he stepped to the side, allowing you to come in. you stepped inside slipping off your shoes. “no worries!” you smiled reassuringly, stepping further into his house. it was pretty homey—family pictures everywhere, baby pictures of seonghyeon and what you assume his younger sister, and old but beautiful decor around the entrance.
“c’mon i’ll take you to my garage. the big garage door’s closed because my neighbors complain about the noise. they’re all old people,” seonghyeon explains after locking the front door. he turns to face you, noticing the simple yet stylish outfit you had on. it was no surprise—i mean you were very well known for your fashion.
seonghyeon then leads you to the garage, opening the door for you. you enter the garage seeing the other four boys. keonho had his electric guitar around his body as he stood at the microphone, martin sat on the dingy couch with james just scrolling on their phones, and juhoon sat on the stool behind his drum set.
“what’s up my favorite models!” you announced yourself like you always did. it had became an inside joke that the boys would become models for you in the future.
“yooo” martin gave her a nod with his usual smile. seonghyeon closed the garage door behind him after the both of you were fully in the garage. you plop yourself onto the couch between martin and james.
you look around the garage, seeing the instruments scattered around the room and the empty cans of redbulls stacked into a pyramid. seonghyeon went back to his guitar—picking it up and slinging it over his body. martin let out a big huff before jumping up from the couch. “let’s run it over again, gang” martin says enthusiastically as he rounded the coffee table to pull james off the couch. james groaned but he got off the couch with no trouble.
soon enough they started. seonghyeon and keonho started the song off. the beginning chords of ‘what you want’ being strum from keonho’s electric guitar and the supporting notes of seonghyeon’s bass. you’ve heard it multiple times already but it never got old. as the song continued, the other boys joined in with their instruments. james and seonghyeon at bass, martin and keonho at electric guitars, and juhoon at drums.
after running through all five songs, all of you inevitably got hungry. james, being the only one who had a car at the moment, went out to get food along with martin and juhoon. so it was only you, seonghyeon, and keonho left in the garage.
the air was relaxed with the soft silence and low music playing from the speakers. the three of you just sat around doing anything to ease the boredom.
though seonghyeon couldn’t help that his eyes traveled to you from time to time. his gaze never stayed long, not wanting to get caught. nobody seemed to notice it anyways. you were on the couch just sitting on the run-down thing. your presence a stark contrast to it. your phone in hand as you scrolled on your timeline, snickering at stupid posts here and there.
suddenly keonho broke the silence. “i need to shit, brb,” keonho announced causing a disgusted expression from you.
“holy tmi dude,” you replied, brows furrowed together in the same disgusted expression. seonghyeon shook his head with a small laugh. keonho shrugged you off and soon left the garage. the garage door clicked shut as keonho left the garage, leaving just you and seonghyeon.
the comfortable silence fell over the two of you once more. seonghyeon looked over at you, this time his gaze lingering just a few seconds more. for once, you felt eyes on you. you looked up suddenly catching eye contact with seonghyeon. the two of you looked at each other for a split second before seonghyeon quickly looked away. you raised a brow in suspicion and curiosity. why was he staring? did you have something on your face, or maybe your hair was sticking up and you didn’t know? “are you okay, seonghyeon?” you questioned.
“uh.. no—i mean yeah! i’m good. why do you ask?” seonghyeon stammered, mentally face palming himself. the air around him became awkward. he thought you said something different until he realized what you actually said.
“well i mean you were staring at me” you inquired with a small smile. seonghyeon tried to think of a way to get you off his back. he wouldn’t know how to respond if you questioned him about his lingering looks.
“do you know how to play guitar?” seonghyeon abruptly asked, turning his head to look at you again. the first thing you noticed when he looked at you again, was the subtle flush of his ears. it was kinda cute.
“i’m literally a multitalented queen. of course i can,” you playfully gloated. in reality you only knew the basic chords and notes—not knowing how to put them together to make it sound good.
“oh yeah? let’s test that,” seonghyeon lightly joked, getting up from the old bean bag he sat on. seonghyeon went to grab keonho’s guitar, then going to sit next to you on the couch. he handed you the guitar, allowing you to position it comfortably in your lap. once you got comfortable, you started strumming random chords. seonghyeon’s face twisted in slight pain from the uncoordinated notes you played. it felt like nails on chalkboard.
“alright, alright. that’s enough, please. you’re making my ears bleed,” seonghyeon teased causing you to cackle. you weren’t embarrassed by whatever you did. if anything you laughed at yourself sometimes. seonghyeon smiled widely at the sound of your laugh. he found your laugh endearing. unexpectedly, seonghyeon scooted closer without another thought to second guess himself. “lemme help you. i’ll teach you a bit of joyride,” he said in a casual tone— which was the complete opposite of how he was feeling inside.
you felt your heart fluttered for a moment as he snaked an around underneath yours, his right hand landing on the neck of the guitar alongside your hand. his other hand going to the strings, slightly brushing against your other hand. you could feel how close he really was and you were quite hyperaware of it. your heart thumped against your chest and you swear you could hear it out loud. seonghyeon, on the other hand, felt nervous and awkward. he didn’t know what he was thinking, it was like his body moved on its own.
the air was a bit tense but it still remained relaxed. seonghyeon’s hands guided yours on the frets. though seonghyeon hoped and prayed you didn’t notice the shaking of his hand. which you did because it’s very visible. you just chose not to say anything. you could feel your cheeks heat up slightly as he taught you how to play joyride. his voice wavered a bit but it was still steady and soft. as he taught you the notes, you couldn’t help but be more focused on his arms practically trapping you. your stomach felt fluttery, feeling about a thousand butterflies in there. seonghyeon was no better. his hands shakily guided yours and his ears burned red.
you accidentally played the wrong note, letting out an apologetic yet shy laugh. “oops, wrong one. sorry,” you said to which seonghyeon laughed as well. his laugh was airy and it sounded cute. if only you could see his dimples.
the both of you didn’t notice that the door cracked open just a smidge. behind the door were the other boys, trying to stay quiet and sneaky so they can eavesdrop. james quickly snapped a little photo of them—a smile on his face while he watched the two play joyride on the electric guitar. martin watched with a faux expression of distaste, but deep down he found it endearing.
