Greetings everyone! We have a newly branded blog and are excited say hello to Waava Week 2025! This year marks the 12th anniversary of the 'Beginnings' Episodes from "The Legend of Korra", which first aired on October 18th, 2013.

It's amazing to see this event still going after all these years - and the celebrate everyone's creativity and love for this rarepair we're pleased to announce this year's Waava Week will run from Sunday, October 12th to Saturday, October 18th - that's an entire week of Wan and Raava!

It was nothing like the dances humans knew, and the music they had followed was nothing humans could hear.

She still remembered the patterns winding through the cosmos with his other half, the light that dotted the stars and celestial bodies while he was the velvet void between. Two parts of a mechanism born from the universe itself.

Happy October 18th! This year's Waava Week has been truly special. As someone who has been with Waava all twelve years, the number of people participating this year has been a blessing to see. It has been so much fun celebrating with everyone and it brings me so much joy to see new people joining in this ship week. This was originally my idea for day 1 (song/dance) but after thinking on it more I thought it would be a more fitting for the end of the week. Hope to see you next year! 🥰

Day 7 - Glow / Golden

summary: She cannot accept that this world is never, ever fair. // On the eve of Harmonic Convergence, Raava searches for resolution. A worthless prayer, a final touch; she searches, she pleads, she takes what solace she can in golden eyes.

notes: and we reach the end of an incredibly successful waava week !! going out with a bang tbh because this is definitely my favorite of all the prompts i've written this week :')

He lifts her from the teapot, so careful and gentle that she almost hates it. She is so weak—so small, so frail, so fucking pathetic. 

Look how far Raava has fallen from grace; the spirit voices that slip through the cracks of her mind, tainted by Vaatu’s darkness, make no secret of their pleasure in reminding her. 

Wan brings her close to his chest, cradled in his arms as if he wants to protect her from herself while he asks, “are you sure this is a good idea?”

“It is not a matter of good ideas,” she answers firm. She has already made up her mind. “It is a matter of want.”

Let Raava be selfish this final night. Let her take what she wants; she has wanted nothing far too long before this human gave her something to want for. 

He sighs, “Raava…”

She curls a tendril around his forefinger, so small it hardly wraps the digit twice. 

“Please, Wan. Do not try to convince me otherwise.”

That pulls a tired laugh from his throat. 

“I don’t think I ever could even if I tried.”

It starts in his right arm.

At first, it’s nothing more than a dull throb, a slight sting in the aftermath of a rush of flame or the tossing of rock. He makes do with it, trying not to overextend himself when he can, making each move of the elements efficient and precise. His earth was sharper, his fire faster and his air was the harsh wind of a storm.

But over time, the pain crawled down his arm, making his hand stiff and the tips of his fingers numb. When he had trouble firing off more than ten fire bursts without his hand locking in place, Wan knew there was no ignoring it.

He needed a healer.

Day 6 - Brittle / Strength

summary: This existence, theirs and theirs alone, is natural to them. Wan’s body and soul, Raava’s light and the brittle bones that hold her. This inevitable pain Raava has bound herself to. // Wan struggles to accept limits, Raava struggles to share pain, and neither of them can know the future; time moves on regardless.

notes: thinking about old wan is too heartbreaking so obviously. this prompt was perfect for that :')

Wan is aware of only two things in the present moment. All else falls to the wayside; it has to. This isn’t a time to think, not when they’re barely out of dodge from an unexpected conflict, and now all he wants to do is get as far away as his legs can possibly carry him.

That’s part of the problem. 

The first thing he is aware of: every step is pain. Every move, every breath, every beat of his own heart. His old bones and fresh bruises jostle, they creak together and slow him down. 

The second:

“You should have left,” Raava seethes in his ear. “You were not needed.”

Raava is not pleased with him.

He had always been the outcast — kicked out, exiled, abandoned — the works. He had belonged to his Lion Turtle, but only because he was born there. He had belonged to the oasis spirits, until he'd grown big for their pond. He belonged to Raava, for a year they traveled the world together, side-by-side — until Harmonic Convergence came and changed everything again.

Now, he belonged to no one.

summary: "I might not always be able to read your thoughts, but you know I can feel what you’re feeling right now, and…” Wan puts a hand to his chest, and feels her practically thud against his sternum to meet it, which only furthers his point. "I think you might actually be the one with the one track mind between us, Raava.” // asceticism (noun): as in abstinence, as in sacredness, as in self-denial; Raava is a particularly good master of such things.

notes: free day? more like free USE day, am i right????! (i'll see myself out)...dedicated to the wonderful wonderful @katkastrofa bc this concept had us going INSANE in dms back in the winter for weeks on end. also i was fretting over giving this more of a scene-setting intro, and then i was like...what am i doing, we all know what we're here for? so this just rlly jumps right into it

Raava doesn’t even grace him with a warning. He’s midsentence when suddenly his knees almost buckle with the intense burst of arousal she sends through him. 

“Oh,” Wan sighs, eyes squeezed shut while he fights to stay upright. He thinks frantically, he’s going to notice. 

“Then it may best serve you to leave,” she offers mischievously inside his mind. “Now, Wan.”

“Master Wan?” the old man opposite him asks in clear concern—he does, in fact, notice that something is wrong. How could he not? Wan’s reaction is painfully obvious; this is not great for him. “Is everything alright?”

Wan has to grit his teeth in an attempt to pull himself together. He’s thankful that at the very least, Raava’s control is somehow keeping the erection he’d usually be struck with already at bay. One small favor. “Think of something,” she suggests and it’s more like an order. Of course she’s not going to help him think of something, that would be too easy. She’ll leave the thinking up to him.

waava week (2025) // day 4 - free day (redraw)

For this year's 'free day' prompt I decided to redraw my Waava Week art from 2022! This art holds a lot of meaning for me - it was one of my first real time drawing Wan and Human!Raava in a romantic-esque setting and since making it this art has been my computer's lock screen for the last three years! So when it was announced one of the prompts for this year was a 'free for all' prompt I couldn't think of anything better to make than to try redrawing this old art to see how far my skills (and Raava design) have come! 😄 (also per my self-imposed Waava Week rules I had to draw them looking into each others eyes 😍)
