I occasionally write fictional stories of my own and rarely finish them 🥲

this blog is about a series that draws inspiration from the Bible so Christianity would be the focus here. that being said, all are welcome regardless of religious and denominational affiliation

I just listened to Dallas talk for 16 minutes so you don't have to:

Due to unspecified legal troubles, s4 will not be available to stream any time soon.

They are extending the theatrical run and "bringing it to churches" in the mean time.

When they finally CAN bring it to the app, they will be releasing TWO episodes per week to make up for the delay.

If you don't want to wait for each episode, you will be able to pay to stream the whole season or buy it on DVD.

I get what he means when he says what they were doing previously wasn't sustainable and I support them in trying to keep it as free as possible for everyone to watch by doing things like having the entire thing in theaters first, but this still sucks beyond belief. Considering they are extending the theatrical run and that it will available on DVD by then, that implies they don't think it'll be available to stream for quite some time (my guess would be a month or more).

also, in addition to my post about the pharisees in jesus christ superstar, i think the pharisees in the chosen are also worth talking about. i'm surprised dallas jenkins has so far given a fairly neutral/two dimensional portrayal of the pharisees and not just cartoonish evil villains, but from the way season 3 has had nameless ones pop up for no reason and start yelling & as the passion is in season 6, they're going to have to portray the sandhedrin directly soon enough. i am NOT jewish and am not an expert but i just think it's worth saying that this is a christian tv series and that there is underlying bias that prevents a fully neutral portrayal of the pharisees and sandhedrin, whether you're watching as a christian or a non christian. the antisemitism is just going to get more obvious as the passion sequence approaches. i've legitimately seen so much antisemitism (although expected) in online discussions and i just wanted to put it out there

I think a fantastic and absolutely gut wrenching parallel that The Chosen can make is after Jesus dies and the disciples are all stuck together fighting over what to do next, whose fault it is, angry and grieved and at each other’s throats—

Like they were all fighting over the campfire while Jesus was healing people all day

—Mother Mary, Mary Magdalene, Tamar, and Ramah (and possibly if not probably Eden) all return covered in Jesus’ blood from having cleaned his body for his haphazard burial before sundown. Their hands stained red and smelling of perfume and oils, and cheeks wet with tears, entering with a quiet but grief-stricken dignity. They never left him. They stood by him til the end and they have the blood and sweat and tears to show for it—

Just like Jesus walking back to his tent after an exhausting, difficult day of healing, sweating and panting with the effort to walk.

—And the disciples are silenced by this. They ran away. They denied him. They slept when he asked them to pray. They are ashamed.

And the screen cuts to black. Credits roll in silence.

have y’all seen the trailer yet?! I can’t wait from how season 4 is gonna go. from the trailer, this is where Jesus is going feel the time ticking on him with John the Baptizer’s looming death, his looming death and from one scene, there is a shot of Judas accepting some coins so there is that.

it is safe to say that we’re gonna be in for a crazy (and awesome ride btw) with season 4 🥰

Season 4 Predictions for Rad Thad Tuesday

Knowing that we’re gonna get the disciples bickering over who’s better, maybe Thaddeus may feel a bit like he doesn’t belong cause he’s more “unassuming” than the others despite being one of the first called. Seeing the behind the scenes shot of him with Little James and Jesus, I think we’re gonna get a “good enough” character arc😭

I just read that post and lmao. it is funny to me that someone would create all that post and still manage to be misinformed or even share misinformation. also, who is going to tell the writer of that post that most of Jesus’ disciples were not up to standing.

if they have a problem with The Chosen depicting Nathaniel and Mary Magdalene as alcoholics, someone should remind the writer that Simon Zee was once a Zealot, Matthew was once a tax collector and Simon Peter, even after following Jesus, denied Him three times and cut off the ears of the high priest’s servant. somehow, those are okay to be in the Bible but portraying Nathaniel and Mary Magdalene as alcoholics crosses the line?

and the dig towards Roumie for being Catholic is ridiculous as Catholics are Christians and some actors who have portrayed Jesus are either atheists or were non-believers at one point. all this is just ridiculous.
