Jobless man builds helicopter with recycled material
All he wanted to do was fly in a helicopter. So an unemployed man at Siza informal settlement near Rustenburg decided to follow his dream - and build his own helicopter.
Now he is calling on aviation experts or experienced pilots to check if it would be safe for him to take his home-built helicopter on its maiden flight.

So my therapist was like, âYou donât have to do either. You can just say you havenât worked in a while because youâre recovering from an illness.â

HIV vaccine approach nears human trial
For decades, scientists have struggled to develop vaccines to stop the spread of HIV. And for decades, the vaccines have failed. HIV mutates at a ferocious pace, outrunning the immune systemâs antibodies.
Studies published Thursday demonstrate that the immune system can be accelerated so itâs primed and ready to block HIV infection.
The studies describe a multi-pronged approach to an HIV vaccine, each one demonstrating a component of the process. Assembling all these components into a vaccine for humans is the final step. Testing could take place in about two years, the scientists say.
