using polymorph - material which you place beads in boiling water and then are able to mould them for a short period of time after it comes out before going solid again. To relate to my project I wanted to make bee wings, using wire and the polymorph. firstly I found it quite dense and then realised that you are able to stretch it thin and see light through which was ideal for wings, so started again however it was quite hard to get it thin and smooth / not holey and it came out quite patchy so I re did it a couple of times When I finally mastered a good stretch of the poly morph - trick to use a much bigger piece than needed as weight helps stretch - I found that I preferred it holey/ patchy as it added more texture and made it look less plastic.
after admiring Danielle cloughs work at upfest I created a sample of work in her style, relevant to my project ( posted on insta and she actually liked it ! ! )
for my path way project I am looking at bees and their importance to survival. here I've found a dead bee and studied under a binocular microscope to find details which i could use in my work. I'd like to study it with a stronger microscope to be able to see more of the wing detail
