Cryptozoology Anthology is available NOW in full-color paperback and limited edition hardcover (with extra content)! http://amzn.to/1BU3tzh
The CRYPTOZOOLOGY ANTHOLOGY team is spread out across the US, so we use WeTransfer to share files. This morning, as I picked up what should be the last file needed before publication—an image of Bigfoot—I was greeted by this screen on the WeTransfer site. I'm calling it a good omen.
Now available on CafePress: The 2015 Cryptozoology Calendar, featuring Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster and other legendary creatures from stories published in vintage men's pulp adventure magazines in the 1950s, 1960s & 1970s. A little something for the monster lover on your list, from Dave Coleman, Bob Deis & Wyatt Doyle, editors of the forthcoming Cryptozoology Anthology!
Are Sleep-Over Nurses covered by your health insurance policy? If not, you’ll just have to make do by ogling this illustration by artist Gil Cohen, or by reading the story it was used for in the April 1967 issue of Male. You can see more cool artwork by Gil and read the MensPulpMags.com interview with him in the posts at this link: http://bit.ly/1lHAmYn

"Call Doll Villa" ... a little-known piece of World War II history that was, er, revealed by the September 1964 issue of Action For Men. (Written by Robert LaGuardia. Art by Bob Stanley.) That issue also includes a classic illo by Al Rossi, based on a reference photo he took of models Steve Holland and Eva Lynd, which Eva shared with Weasels Ripped My Flesh! editor Bob Deis and Bob shared with readers of the www.MensPulpMags.com blog in the post at this link: http://bit.ly/1hICthZ

Only three issues of the men's pulp adventure magazine Gusto were published, in 1957 and 1958. This is the third and last issue, dated February 1958. (Painting by artist Clarence Doore.) Gusto's demise was due in large part to the US Postal Service, which revoked the magazine's mailing permit for containing "obscene, lewd, lascivious" content -- such as an article about the classic Calypso song "The Big Bamboo." You can read more about this example of overzealous 1950s-style censorship here - http://bit.ly/odEnD0. You can read the article about "The Big Bamboo" in our Weasels Ripped My Flesh! anthology (if you dare).

Artist Wil Hulsey, who created the iconic "Weasels Ripped My Flesh" cover painting we love so much, also did this gonzo killer creature cover painting for the story "Spider Monkeys Tore Me Apart," featured on the cover of Man's Life, November 1957. You can see more of Hulsey's classic killer critter covers here: http://bit.ly/1lxG6IW

This ad for the Love Fever book series in Man's Conquest, August 1959 says that the books were "Guaranteed to raise your temperature and keep it up!" The return of "Hamburg's Notorious Call-Girl Twins" (Men magazine, July 1959.)... In this episode, Mr. Carl Oberholzer learns an important (but, alas, fatal) lesson about what can happen when something seems too good to be true, like having gorgeous twin babes suggest a three-way... Autumn 2014 release.
Men's adventure magazines often provided alternate versions of historical events that were far more pleasant than reality... Like the cover story about the Bay of Pigs in Man's Daring, Sept. 1963, which featured pro-American "Joy Girls" kicking the butts of Fidel Castro's evil Commie troops. You can see more examples of classic Cuban Commie covers here.

Artist Joe Little did a great duotone illustration for this Walter Kaylin story in the September 1959 issue of Men. The story is a wild pulp yarn that has a surprisingly bloody ending. It's included in our collection of Walter's stories, He-Men, Bag Men & Nymphos. (www.WalterKaylin.com)

As noted in various posts on MensPulpMags.com, bodybuilder and entrepreneur Joe Weider published some unusual men's adventure magazines in the 1950s and 1960s. One was True Strange. It focused on stories about the supernatural, monsters and UFOs and it featured excellent collage-style cover paintings by artist Thomas Beecham. Here's our favorite True Strange cover: the August 1957 issue, starring Marilyn Monroe.
